A recent Market Index weekend article showed that the “best days” investment approach analysis resulting in better returns than random/picking dips approach actually held true for the S&P 500, but not true for the ASX200. It pays to take a more nuanced approach with the ASX apparently. I don’t have a crystal ball, but the Buffet indicator and some other indicators are suggestive of an imminent correction, seemingly one that is never coming… but with the massive skew in the USX market somewhat masking the underperformance of the remains 493 stocks in the S&P500, I am a bit nervous!

Tracey, I think you do an excellent job but this week I bailed entirely from the ASX. If anything I will be placing short spreads in the next few weeks to last 6 months in selected derivatives. The reason is the global situation is looking significantly dangerous with the China Taiwan situation and the Russian Ukrainian situation and there doesn't look like any improvements on the horizon. I generally agree with your positive outlook and it is well reasoned but the global political situation can't be ignored either. There are still some well priced stocks though and I like stocks with a good dividend anything over 7% is fantastic if it is a large well run company IMO, but each to their own. Time will tell but the geo political situation has taken a serious turn for the worse so I am out.

Sensible and straightforward observations as usual - I've had many stress free years investing in good ASX 200 companies.

What are your management fees in ETFs like? is it better to only have individual stocks in your portfolio or still have the odd ETF in there?

I’m currently editing a video on ETFs! It should be out tomorrow and hopefully answers your question 😊

When I dumped $30,000 into IVV IOO and VESG in November 2021 my stocks fell 20%. Never again, there is definitely a crash coming soon.

So sweet to be over confident. True diligence is a proper diversification. You got 11 sectors, learn to hedge. Use a broker with grunt. Before buying stock remember you have not made or lost your money until you gone full circle. After every purchase set 2 exit points, a stop loss that you NEVER look back. A target to beat others, sell when the steam is still on but you can do better elsewhere.

I like your videos - always great content, well presented, thanks. But could you think about leaving the slightest break between editing cuts. It’s very disorienting to watch with the sentences chopping into each other.

Hahaha The only time I'd even consider buying stocks at or near their ATH is if they pay consistent phat juicy dividends.
@lesmotley68395 ай бұрын
If you bought at the peak in 2008 you would have had to wait 12 years to get your money back. We're currently in the world's biggest bubble. It's probably time to take a more cautious approach.

I would not be investing directly in the US stock market right now just because its an election year. Way too many unknowns There is a time to apply sensible logic to investing to maybe reduce some risk After November...maybe
@reecem28016 ай бұрын
That’s interesting because the s&p500 has gained an average of 7% on election years since 1952. Yes it’s lower than the 10% average but hardly a reason to stop investing imo
@tradetech78896 ай бұрын
@@reecem2801 Historical data is meaningless in the present. The US has some huge issues economically, socially & politically ....right now. But you go for it! It's just an opinion. There is one particular S&P 500 ETF I'm keeping an eye on, not buying just yet
@Rick-kj9dd6 ай бұрын
I understand the concept of dollar cost averaging, but realistically how many investors would have kept buying shares when the market was quickly and drastically going south after the peak of 2007 GFC. I'm suggesting it's dangerous investing large amounts of your capital when the market is very high. I hold bank shares which pre GFC share price peaks have not yet returned. That's a 16 year period since 2007 with good dividends but still no full return of your capital if you purchased shares at that peak. I also can't get my head around your quoted research that buying the dip gains are worse than buying at a new high. Doesn't make common sense to me.
@ReggieLouise6 ай бұрын
Yes, that didn’t make sense to me either, RE buying the dip. But, as markets generally are on an upward trajectory, there’ll always be a new all-time high.
