Hundreds of clinics specializing in ketamine treatment for depression, anxiety and post-traumatic stress disorder have popped up in the U.S. in recent years. Some investors are even throwing hundreds of millions of dollars into ketamine startups. How big could the market for psychedelic treatment get?

I've never taken Ketamine before but I have taken 4 grams of Golden Teacher Magic Mushrooms (Psilocybin) recently. A truly lifechanging experience. Actually, that's putting it too mildly. The GREATEST single experience of my life. Literally a gateway to the next world. A doorway to heaven and the afterlife. Reunited with my late, estranged mother and reconciled. My eye shades were sodden with tears and I'm not a crier. More beautiful and loving than you could possibly imagine. Words cannot describe it. EVERYONE on earth needs to experience it.
@Jim-Tuner
@Jim-Tuner Жыл бұрын
You will chase re-creating that experience for the rest of your life. The thing is that you are not opening a doorway to anything. You are frying your brain. And eventually your going to be sitting in a corner seeing the doors of perception staring dead-headed into a strobe light. The more you use them, the more the bad effects will take hold. I guess the good thing is that your brain will be so damaged that you will not understand that anything is even wrong. Seek out people how have used these things and understand them. The positives and the negatives of them. If anyone tells you there are no dangers in them, RUN AWAY from those people.

@@Jim-Tuner I remember thinking just like you and then I actually tried it, lol. They are not addictive and I could happily go the rest of my life without using them again. In fact, they have been proven to END addiction like smoking, drinking, and drugs not cause it. End depression, anxiety, and suicidal thoughts. Make people productive members of society. I personally know a girl who it saved from committing suicide. You should try it someday instead of just sticking with your preconceived prejudices. You have no idea what you're missing out on.

This is extremely difficult for people who are in the last 1/4 of their life and have suffered for so long. What I wouldn't do to experience to not feel the overwhelming depression that I wake up with and go to sleep with everyday. Depression is like taking your free will of feeling happiness away from you. Then you feel guilty because you know that self loathing is a sin. So you then feel unappreciative of life. The more you try to fight the depression the more you feel like a failure. I wouldn't wish it on anyone. I will never be able to afford this treatment in my lifetime. I've come to terms that this is only for wealthy depressed people. I can only hope that if I do come back in my next life that I can feel natural happiness and do everything in my power to help people who can't experience it.

I’m sorry most of your replies are bots. In terms of ketamine treatment though, as it’s new I suggest trying to find clinics looking for new patients for research on the benefits of this treatment. Since it’s only recently started to gain recognition in the medical field, there’s still a lot of places doing clinical trials with it that will administer it for free or even pay you for your participation so that more research can be conducted on it. You just have to do your research on the upstarting ketamine treatment clinics in your area and keep an eye out online for clinical trials

K doesnt get FDA approval, as this vid pointed out, trials costs billions and K is a generic drug. Meanwhile, big pharma comes up with novel, patentable versions of K, and those do get FDA approval but patients (and insurance) pay big bucks. In a functioning democracy, govt would pay for the trials for the generic version thus making treatment widely accessible to all.

People said the photograph would replace artists, the record player would replace musicians, and the computer would replace graphic designers; these fields were all heavily disrupted by these technologies but ultimately these technologies became techniques or disciplines of their own. Technology cannot replace the human deciding what is good, tasteful, or relevant; so perhaps ai art will be more like found art or curating a museum, but those are artforms themselves.

There was a very strange feature in this case, strange because of its extremely rare occurrence. This man had once been brought to the scaffold in company with several others, and had had the sentence of death by shooting passed upon him for some political crime. Twenty minutes later he had been reprieved and some other punishment substituted; but the interval between the two sentences, twenty minutes, or at least a quarter of an hour, had been passed in the certainty that within a few minutes he must die. I was very anxious to hear him speak of his impressions during that dreadful time, and I several times inquired of him as to what he thought and felt. He remembered everything with the most accurate and extraordinary distinctness, and declared that he would never forget a single iota of the experience. ‘About twenty paces from the scaffold, where he had stood to hear the sentence, were three posts, fixed in the ground, to which to fasten the criminals (of whom there were several). The first three criminals were taken to the posts, dressed in long white tunics, with white caps drawn over their faces, so that they could not see the rifles pointed at them. Then a group of soldiers took their stand opposite to each post. My friend was the eighth on the list, and therefore he would have been among the third lot to go up. A priest went about among them with a cross: and there was about five minutes of time left for him to live. ‘He said that those five minutes seemed to him to be a most interminable period, an enormous wealth of time; he seemed to be living, in these minutes, so many lives that there was no need as yet to think of that last moment, so that he made several arrangements, dividing up the time into portions-one for saying farewell to his companions, two minutes for that; then a couple more for thinking over his own life and career and all about himself; and another minute for a last look around. He remembered having divided his time like this quite well. While saying good- bye to his friends he recollected asking one of them some very usual everyday question, and being much interested in the answer. Then having bade farewell, he embarked upon those two minutes which he had allotted to looking into himself; he knew beforehand what he was going to think about. He wished to put it to himself as quickly and clearly as possible, that here was he, a living, thinking man, and that in three minutes he would be nobody; or if somebody or something, then what and where? He thought he would decide this question once for all in these last three minutes. A little way off there stood a church, and its gilded spire glittered in the sun. He remembered staring stubbornly at this spire, and at the rays of light sparkling from it. He could not tear his eyes from these rays of light; he got the idea that these rays were his new nature, and that in three minutes he would become one of them, amalgamated somehow with them. ‘The repugnance to what must ensue almost immediately, and the uncertainty, were dreadful, he said; but worst of all was the idea, ‘What should I do if I were not to die now? What if I were to return to life again? What an eternity of days, and all mine! How I should grudge and count up every minute of it, so as to waste not a single instant!’ He said that this thought weighed so upon him and became such a terrible burden upon his brain that he could not bear it, and wished they would shoot him quickly and have done with it.’

Why? If it's a highly effective treatment, then it's effective. By far the biggest problem is that the price for a generic medicine in these cases is charged at 100X what it could be. Psychedelics appear to be effective, the only issue is that people aren't making huge amounts of money, but the medical approval process is built around big companies pushing solutions to charge $1000/week. When really, it should be maybe $40/month.

@@letsburn00 the way i see it, the best cure is prevention, while some have hormonal imbalances, everyone is depressed when times are inevitably hard, i hope i don't have to list off the flaws of american society and the world at large, their are too many, the point is, you can help people cope with emotional pain, but it wont make the world they live in actually better, giving someone ketamine feels an awful lot like treating a symptom while leaving the underlying disease untouched
@letsburn00
@letsburn00 Жыл бұрын
@@diegoaguilar6602 I think that is true. But one aspect is that a lot of people develop mental health issues because of stuff that happens in their childhood much of which is linked to poverty. The problem is that positive things done in childhood only shows up in the depression data 30 years later. At which point, we need to try to treat/cure. But government efforts to reduce child suffering gets huge pushback already. So going to do more is a big uphill battle until those who pushback stop getting voted for.

People want a magic cure for mental illness. They want to get around the hard work of dealing with the problems by just "pilling" them away. What they don't understand is that these drugs don't cure anything. They just suppress the unpleasant outward symptoms for a while. Then eventually you end up with an even more damaged person with even more problems. But nobody is listening. Just as with the pain pills, money and the elite have made the decision.
@Jim-Tuner
@Jim-Tuner Жыл бұрын
@@RM... You might want to look at who is funding most of that positive research. And also ask yourself why so much exclusively positive research is coming out. What I can tell you is that there is decades of older research that quantifies exactly why this not a magic cure for mental illness and what the horrible long-term consequences of irresponsible over-use of these substances is going to be. What the people you personally know are eventually going to discover is that its not a cure. It simply suppresses the symptoms for a while. And the longer the substances are used, the more the consequences of their use are going to be apparent. "traditional" antidepressants are equally bad. The vomit is because some of us lived through something exactly similar to this with the over-perscription of pain pills and the commerical development of "pain clinics" which dispensed dangerous drugs to people who shouldn't have been given them. We watched the same pattern of studies promising everything under the sun for pain pills, nobody listened then and the same thing is happening again. Seeing all this happen again makes some of us vomit. Now you know. You have a choice to either listen or not. If you choose to ignore the warnings, you will have no one to blame in a few years other than yourself.

Did 6 sessions for $3,000 in a hope to treat my medication resistant PTSD and OCD. All it did was put my brain into a terrifying black hole meshed with the incomprehensible molecular structure of the universe and pray for a return to normalcy for an hour. It was a complete waste of money that had no long lasting effects for me.

Well, you know the old saying, " Everything that sparkles isn't gold" its the same thing with this drug. Folks who offer these services will hype it up as the best of the best treatment for the depression. Because they see 🤑 dollar signs floating all around them. Some folks will benefit and others will say, nope it did nothing for me. But as time passes. We shall see if this is a miracle drug or not.

don't make these people rich. you definitely do not need to overpay for ketamine. the fact that for years people have been put in prison for all of this stuff and now doctors make a huge amount of cash with it rubs me very much the wrong way. i mean great, at least it's half-accepted now. but still. I personally continue to do whatever I want. and these people ain't gonna see a dime from me.

Did I hear $4000 dollars for 6 treatments. Well, that's depressing. If you really want to make money, it's not going to happen just with the wealthy coming in for treatments. The smart move, is to open the door to the hard working folks, by offering payment plans, excepting insurance or two for one deals or buy a one week treatment plan get 2 days free. Now you save money and more people will be interested in coming into your establishment for treatment. Well that's my two cents of how I would market my business. 😊 PS: Lots of things can be exclusive. Until your not making money.😉

Side effects?
@Jim-Tuner
@Jim-Tuner Жыл бұрын
toxins associated with the drug build up in the body over time. The body also develops a tolerance to the drug leading to people needing more of it for the same effect which increases the danger associated with taking it. All psycadelic drugs tend to lead in the long run to brain damage of one sort or another. They are not addictive, but people can become dependent on them to function over time.

@@RM... And I get the sense that you are a pharma rep or work in the industry. You carefully avoid any of the negatives by insisting that everyone is following a limited "standard" use of ketamine and that no one is giving treatments any other way. And are we really going to pretend that Ketamine toxicity is not a thing? That all the research and the medical papers somehow don't exist? That the stuff widely available on the internet through a basic google search isn't there? I mean really. What is your game here?

@sjwimmel
@sjwimmel Жыл бұрын
@@itsame9780 I agree that depression and PTSD are not conditions you choose to have. What I meant was that they are, in a way, thought patterns, often subconscious and out of our control but still patterns. Certain drugs (ketamine, MDMA, LSD) have been shown to help either bring these patterns into the conscious mind so you can change them, or make it easier to deal with them without all their emotional load.
