I learned bull put spread, but I still don’t understand the impact of the IV, I am above both sell and put but I am in red….. do you have a video on that pls?
@jacksonislegend3 күн бұрын
Implied volatility affects both options in the bull put spread by increasing or decreasing their extrinsic value (time value). Higher implied volatility raises option premiums, which can widen the spread's value and cause losses, even if the stock is above the sold put's strike. As expiration approaches, time decay reduces extrinsic value, causing the spread to converge to its intrinsic value, where profits or losses align with the stock's price relative to the strikes. So essentially, if the underlying stock's price stays above the sold put strike, the closer you get to expiration, the more time decay erodes the values of both contracts. Essentially, you might just need to wait a little longer. I highly recommend using a tool like optionstrat to help visualize these concepts.

Please read more in depth about options trading or you will lose money very quickly. To answer your question, no, you don't need the money to buy the shares. sold a 136 put. But now im wanting to hedge a little. I can buy a put to offset potential loss in lue of the bearishness?
@jacksonislegend3 күн бұрын
I'm assuming this was a cash-secured put that you sold. If it’s not cash-secured (i.e., a naked put), your risk is much higher since you don’t have funds set aside to buy the stock if assigned. In that case, buying a put below the $136 strike is even more critical, as it limits your potential loss if the stock drops significantly. Selling naked options is incredibly risky and almost always inadvisable. Did you watch the video here? If you're bullish on the stock but want downside protection, you can buy a put with a strike below the $136 put you sold. This protects you if the stock drops significantly. By doing so, you're creating a put credit spread (or bull put spread), which limits your potential loss while still allowing you to profit if the stock stays above $136. This is the first strategy discussed in the video.

@donnyh34977 күн бұрын
If you don't have the money for the shares, your broker will exercise your long put to cover it and you only lose the difference. It's best not to trade these spreads on dividend stocks anywhere near the ex-dividend date.

@@donnyh3497 but i think something you have to watch out for is if by expiration the stock ends between your short and long puts. because then there is a chance you won't be able to close.. so imo always best to close selling options early but im still learning.

Any resources I should use, other than your videos Henry, to learn enough to get approved for level 3 so I can do spreads?
@zacster904 күн бұрын
You might be able to use this strategy on robinhood with a small amount of total portfolio. credit spreads are not naked options. A credit spread is a combination of buying and selling options, while a naked option is a single option sold without owning the underlying asset.

Love your show, Henry, but this is misleading. Name me one broker that will let you trade a spread without at least $10k -$20k in your account, or in the case of RH, a couple years experience and over $100k in your account at least. You’re just not allowed to trade spreads on a small account anywhere. If you know a broker where that isn’t true then you should put that up front. The low collateral, high profit part is true: the small account part is not. A better way to put this is “if you already have gotten to a large account, and a good amount of experience, you may want to accelerate your gains using a small percentage of your capital: if so, this is the strategy for you”

I've made money using all these strategies and I've gotten sucker punched by all of them as well (sadly more often the latter rather than the former).

With a small capital, you can use Vertical (Put Credit Spread) like he said in the video. For example: TSLA current stock price is $396, First you SELL Put TSLA @ $350, then you BUY Put TSLA @ $345 to protect your SELL Put if the stock price fall below $350. After the expiration date, if TSLA price never reached below $350, then you collected all the premium.

I see XAI515T moving right along side all the Alt's you mentioned! Plus I see all the Alt's plus XAI515T moving in lock step in the charts! My point is XAI515T is cheap! Retail likes buying cheap! Especially when that cheap item is on the verge of becoming expensive
