Installed Invidia R400 and painted it black for a stealthier look. This setup is with an MAPerformance catted jpipe! It's a must if you want the best sound out of this exhaust.
Current mods:
Stage 2 MAperformance (Cobb AP, Map intake, catted jpipe, tune)
TurboXS bypass valve
Silver's neomax coilovers
ESR 18x10.5 +22 wheels (255/35/18 tires)
Invidia R400 catback exhaust
Soundtrack by MRKRYL: Lightness

Sounds perfect, thats exactly what I want. I really don't want it too loud where its obnoxious and any cop who hears it cracking and popping wants to pull me over. I want the power increase but with a conservative sound. People who go catless are crazy lol

Hi bro. Excellent video as always. I agree that the video/audio doesn’t do he sound of the r400 justice at all. I have a Cobb catted/ non-resonated jpipe and I just installed the r400 and it’s ridiculous. It has a real nice and deep tone to it. But it IS pretty loud with the Jpipe. Guess I’ll have to watch out for the police in Orange County 😬 Keep up the awesome videos 💪
@TheShaddix
@TheShaddix 5 жыл бұрын
Awesome! You should consider doing the resonator delete too. That doesn't make it louder, it makes the sound clearer. If you haven't seen my video on it, give it a watch. And when you're around cops just cruise in higher gears and short shift. This exhaust is very quiet when at low rpm compared to some others. It also depends on your attitude when you get pulled over. I've had all sorts of exhausts and driven all around socal and got pulled over countless times for random stuff, and if you're polite and, most importantly, honest, you'll be fine. There is that one chance you might run into someone super strict and by the book, but it's rare.
@cdbig9er

It sounds like the Corsa has little drone, but do you happen to know how they compare in overall volume? @TheShaddix
@TheShaddix 6 жыл бұрын
hey thanks! Just a stock wheel wrapped. The wrap itself is not tailored to the wheel specifically, so it has gaps where the wheel gets wider around grip areas. Also didn't want to spend on a new wheel and didn't really like any options. I thought this simple wrap was gonna be just a temp fix, but it ended up fitting and looking great. I wouldn't get any other wheel also because I think this car needs a smaller diamater wheel anyway.

The drone was actually terrible for me the first day I installed and drove this home on the freeway. But the next day it became better and I was never annoyed with it again. Either it became better sound-wise or I just got sort of ear-blind to it, but this drone is not an issue after a day or so of driving. Nice build ! I was curious as to where you got that steering wheel cover seen at 7:45? thanks
@TheShaddix
@TheShaddix 6 жыл бұрын
Thanks! The cover is really just a universal cut that I stitched onto the wheel. It worked out surprisingly well. I initially just wanted to get something temporary as custom wheels are expensive, but really liked this wrap, so I want to get this redone again and stitch it a bit better and use double-sided tape to prevent it from moving at all. Anyway, the guy whom I order from mostly does shift/ebrake boots, so I gave him the diameter and thickness of the wheel to get this custom made and it was really cheap this way, even with genuine alcantara. Hit me up on my email theshaddix@gmail.com and I will give you more details if you really wanna get this done. Stitching this myself took about 3 hours, did it in a parking lot... but could have been way faster. You get some gaps here and there in areas where the wheel gets really thick (side grips) but they aren't that noticeable at all. Feels 1000 times better than stock. No more of that sticky sound and feels amazing with suede bike gloves. I paid only 35 bucks for this.

@@TheShaddix It's pretty cool that you share stuffs to your fellow subie owner unlike other subie owner that ignores question and doesn't want to share. I gotta say I want a wrx so bad is bying a used one ideal!
@TheShaddix
@TheShaddix 5 жыл бұрын
@@AnonYmous-wz8ql Buying a used wrx/sti is a hit or miss as most of them have been modified (even if they are stock when you buy them), so it's nearly impossible to find one that's unmolested. I would personally advise to lease a brand new one vs. buying a used one so you have a worry-free experience. Buying a brand new one is too expensive as your payment would be pretty high for 5-6 years, so that makes no sense to me unless you know for a fact you'd keep the car for a long time. The longest I've had any car was 2.5 years, even fully modified ones. So I started leasing years ago. This way I know no one has messed with the car and I am starting from scratch, so if there are any issues, most likely they were caused by me and I can work with that. But you save a ton of money buying a used car, especially if you buy from a private seller. But then you don't get an extended warranty with that vs. buying from a dealer (unless seller bought one from the start). There really isn't any ideal way, it's just about what you can afford per month and your end goal with the car. Everyone would advise you according to how they prefer to do it, so it's easy to be misled. Do your own research and math to make the right decision!

@TheShaddix
@TheShaddix 5 жыл бұрын
@@mannygonzales2009 you should install it as it is. There is no need for any additional hooks. Once you bolt it down you'll see it's solid. The weight is supported by the jpipe and the muffler section. Definitely don't use zipties there as they will just melt.

I know your are rocking the gs intake. But what are your thoughts on the Cobb big sf intake? Better worse same?
@TheShaddix
@TheShaddix 5 жыл бұрын
I'm sure it's fine, I just like the design of the gs. It's also the loudest of them all which takes a bit getting used to, but you will never look back once you do. You hear a lot of spool, bpv, etc. With quieter intakes you don't hear much, just a lot of muffled suction noise. Maperformance and gs are the best for sound, hands down. But gs is the best intake overall. The box alone is worth the money! It's not a boring cube.

Wrx or sti which one is better and more reliable
@TheShaddix
@TheShaddix 5 жыл бұрын
They are both reliable if you mod them properly and take care of them (assuming you won't leave it stock). The most important things to keep in mind are: always make sure the oil temp is good before you start giving it more gas; run good oil in your car; check your oil level every now and then as some of these cars do burn a bit of oil; don't constantly abuse it. They are solid cars. The issues you hear about them are mostly related to misuse or just factory defects.

@TheShaddix 6 жыл бұрын
Check my new video to answer your last question (also can't run the map stage 1 or 2 tune with any other intake besides their own due to how much air it gets and the placement of stuff). I've just sold the intake to someone today. I went back to the gs intake because 1) it looks better with the box vs. open green filter 2) you need a box as the filter will get soaked after rain or car wash, not to mention being exposed to more heat 3) GS intake fits 100%. If you need more details about the map intake because you're thinking of buying it, just email me and I will tell you my honest opinion. I don't want to rant in public as their company isn't that bad at all, they just need to re-re-design the intake again. I still have their j-pipe and it's solid.

Did you delete the grille on purpose? Ive been waiting for grille options for the 2018 and the only ones so far are $500. I like the look of yours..
@TheShaddix
@TheShaddix 6 жыл бұрын
Long story short, got tired of the stock look after a friend of mine told me how not sporty it looked... Took the grill out, dremeled the middle out completely and left only the black surround frame. Ended up being more challenging of a project than i expected, so been taking months now, but finally got it to look good. I plan on adding carbon inside like an extrusion since the frame is so thin you can see a bunch of beams, etc. I also painted the bumper where the grill sits so you don't see any white. It already looks way better than stock just as is, but need to finalize it. Then I will add some plastic mesh behind it. Also thought about dual hella horns but realized how much of the radiator they actually block, so skipped that. The only good option right now is the chargespeed grill which goes for 700 (ridiculous). Looks awesome but come on, 700 for a grill!? I'd buy it if it were the very last mod I wanted to do to complete the car, but that's not the case. Mine will look similar with nothing inside except for the logo. I will post a video on this once i am done. You should just start off with taking the logo surround off and painting it black. I think that alone is what kills the look on the stock grill.

@@JAYDMGYM well, to me my car sounds great. I'm very picky with the exhaust note and this setup I got is exactly what I wanted. If you think it doesn't sound good, that's a personal pref. TheShaddix no man I’m not disliking anything good video, good quality, good camerawork. Good sound the whole video good way better than I can do at the moment. Besides that so is it 2015+ that you can’t get uel headers are uel headers bad for all year Subaru or just 2015 and up?
@TheShaddix
@TheShaddix 6 жыл бұрын
even the older sti and wrx that came with uel actually benefit from going to equal length. You lose the rumble, of course, but gain in torque and such. There is really no benefit to uel other than the uneven exhaust flow aka rumble. The Wrx got a new engine with a twin scroll turbo starting 2015 up to 2019, so no more ej. It's called fa20. The sti of same years still has the old ej engine, but slightly updated. This new turbo in wrx needs the headers to be equal to spool up fast. The torque curve is drastically different as a result vs. the sti. I just did some clutch stopper install on a 2015 sti and man, it sounded amazing with the rumble and some single exit muffler. Definitely a compromise between sound and performance on wrx. What I also noticed is that when you get a solid transmission mount you actually get some rumble with these cars on the inside. Also, this setup sounds better in person, it's got a lot of bass and character. On video it's pretty much all about how good the mic and the listening device are... If you hear this on your phone, it's so so. Listen to it on a good system, that's more accurate. When I watch this video there is a lot of buzzing and drone due to the mic being weak. In person there is none of that. Just a deep tone that gets progressively better as you accelerate.
