Invincible should've stayed a comic book
Omni Man was the best part of invincible season 1. Season 2 is now invincible without omni man. I wonder how good it will be.
Guys thank you for watching. I don't know if this season is beloved or not. I know invincible fans are mad and cursed their own show because of the delay but does that actually mean anything. Was all that rage for nothing? Probably. If season 1 is a masterpiece, this has to be great or good. But for a goat like me this was garbage.

I could forgive Mark for the occasional dumb teenager moment. Problem is, he ONLY has dumb teenager moments. This is even worse in the comic. They missed the chance to really fuck over Cecil with having half the team die or quit, which would seriously raise the stakes after the Anissa and angstrom plots. Fake out deaths don't usually have a lot of purpose, especially if they just reappear later in one episode. That being said, I think the show handles some of the drama well. Mark IS a dumbass teenager whose only been superpowered for a year, it makes sense that he'd sometimes be selfish and want more of a break than what would be responsible. Having him just say "Alright, I'm on my way" immediately for every threat would make things feel flat and stagnant.

Just because the plot can be justified doesn't make it for a "interesting" plot. I would argue RSG's argument is more logically compared to your's and even being a fan of the Invincible if I reflect on what we just watched for a few seconds you'll realize this season was very disappointing. You don't need to dive into evey potential plot point that can be established for a character sometimes it isn't relevant or even entertaining to watch. And that's the essence of S2 of Invincible and why it was so bad. Nothing happened. Not to mean "nothing happened" but 90% of what's introduced this season was even worth covering for an ENTIRE Season.

However them making this sort of writing likely IS of their accord, and is valid - Kate “dying” would be, while shocking, foolish, since she easily could have had a copy for safekeeping like she did. A better way to do it would to have had lower stakes - Superheroes aren’t stupid in a world of supervillains after all. I agree - Kate’s fakeout is abominable writing. The stakes were too high for the truth. Rae was fair, in my opinion. She answered why Ant Man shouldn’t have crawled inside Thanos and expanded to a giant size. As for Amber and Mark’s relationship, I mean, I get it. It’s boring sometimes. But it’s still sort of realistic. I have one myself and it gets dull at times, so there’s no reason to say Mark’s relationship with Amber is anything better or worse. They try to make it work which is why I still like it even if it’s sort of bland sometimes, though the stakes pop out every once in a while. TL;DR: My opinions are mine, yours are yours, and it’s not our place to judge. I simply shared my thoughts on the same topics. Every hero and villain in this show looks and acts like the creation of an 8 year old. I thought this was funny at first but once I realized that would be the norm for the entire show it became a chore to sit through any scene not involving the main plot… even having said that, Mark’s character frustrated the hell out of me this season. Amber should’ve dumped him two episodes in, Cecil should’ve banned him from working for the government for his first f up, and he should’ve just given up being a hero cause he got his ass kicked every fight. Also, I hate how in every show whenever the protagonist fights someone inferior to them they look experienced and coordinated but when it’s someone that’s stronger they suddenly forget how to fight. What a waste of time this season was.

I still expect him to fight like an amateur when he’s up against someone like a viltrumite, but I don’t expect him to be graceful and coordinated against someone who’s clearly weaker than him either. Like you said he probably doesn’t have fighting experience so he should fight clumsily no matter his opponent. He should be missing swings, accidentally hurting other people, causing property damage, tripping over himself, etc. That would be way more realistic, but we don’t see this. We see him simply outsmarting his weaker opponents who generally having more experience, yet he uses none of this combat strategy against his stronger opponents. I find that frustrating and disappointing.

I agree with a fair amount of your criticisms. I wouldn’t say the show is the pinnacle of excellent writing or anything, but I personally see more good than bad. One of the things I liked the most this season is the fact that Mark and Debbie still have parts of them that miss Nolan, but at the same time they feel guilty for missing him because of the damage he’s done. I found that really neat. I personally have enjoyed both seasons of this show so far.

Season 1 was such a banger, absolutely loved it and even put it above The Last Airbender, but GOD DAMN I HATED SEASON 2. Multiverse? Are you kidding me? Way to kill the plot and make everything feel like it doesn't matter + they pulled time machines out of their asses for some reason. And then don't get me started on Invincible being so FREAKING WEAK, Anissa completely destroyed him like WHY? He had that insane beat up moment with his father, which felt impactful because you know... it's his DAD and here comes a random ass Viltrumite that we've barely seen and gives me ANOTHER BEATING just as bad LIKE WHY, HAVE WE NOT PROGRESSED? Mark wanting to go to college and have a girlfriend while also trying to balance his responsibilities his powers give him is his main internal conflict. Im conflicted because while I completely agree with most of your takes in regards to season 2 i don't know that i do for season 1. Season 1 was great, had great pacing, and nice hook and finale, but I'd agree that watching season 2 could feel like watching paint dry. @@RSG200 That’s all thanks to you. I used to be cringe at handling other opinions but recently indulging in videos like yours has really opened my mind. I agree that the Raimi Spider-Man movies have weird dialogue sometimes but it’s their aesthetic/campy gimmick that makes everything work well. It’s very reminiscent of Stan Lee’s early Spider-Man work and personally, I’d prefer superhero adaptations embracing their roots that way. Invincible’s upfront dialogue is pretty jarring to me and a lot of animated shows have this problem but I just tune into it cause of the story with the Viltrum Empire and not necessarily cause of all its characters or themes. However, even then the Viltrum Empire’s motives don’t even seem wrong in any capacity which begs the question of why Mark and everyone on Earth are so hesitant to change. Anissa makes it clear they care about people and they only really killed themselves and other civilizations that refused change but again there isn’t anything shown to us that proves joining the Empire is even wrong. Maybe there’ll be proof later on in the series or we can just turn to the books for an answer but it’s cringe to look for answers from the comics since the show is willing to make changes like they did with Shrinking Rae. Either way, even if they’ll reveal to us why it’s wrong in Season 3 it makes Mark and the heroes seem incompetent and stupid in Season 2 cause when Anissa challenges Mark’s practices his only defense is he doesn’t kill people. Instead of making Mark seem noble/heroic for it, it makes him an idiot. Anyway, I think it’s important we keep standards for the things we consume otherwise we’ll receive repetitive garbage.

In regards to the Mark being selfish thing, he's a human teenager who's lived on Earth his whole life. Did you expect Mark to just instantly transition his life to a endless cycle of "wake up, save the planet, go to bed" with no complaints. You didn't even mention the fact that the reason he wanted to be Earth so bad was because Mark wanted to keep his relationship with Amber from falling apart, which it did in like the next episode, partially as a consequence of Mark never being around. I would personally argue that it would be infinitely more boring, and lazier writing if Mark was just a killing machine with endless batteries, and he never gets burdened by the side effects of being a super hero.

A little bit after I realized: -Wtf happened with Darkwing's apprentice? -The animen aren't back after having them teased at the end of season 1? -The Mauler Twins were only relevant for like 1 episode. -Doc Sizemic also was around for like 10 minutes depsite being teased. -Battle Beast didn't even show up. -The "main villain" was only in the beginning and end of the season, only being shown in post-credit scenes. -Atom Eve's arc meant nothing. -Monster Girl and Robot's arc meant nothing. -Donald's arc meant nothing. -William and his boyfriend's arc meant nothing. -What's with the deal with the Warhammer Tomb King anyways? -Duplicate and Shrinkrae waren't even actual characters and really should've died. Or at least Duplikate prime reveal being MUCH MUCH later. -The sequids are on Earth now, but nothing happened. -The majority of Marks being evil across almost all timelines was dumb. There is probably more things I'm missing, but most importantly... -The season would've been way better if Mark never got back with Amber and he should've quit college after comming back to Earth realizing he has a brother and his real job should be protecting Earth. Also Mark doesn't need to prove he isn't like Omniman because it has been proven time and time again that he isn't the murderer his father was because we, the audience, know. I only really liked Alen, Nolan, and Cecil. Maybe a little bit of Debbie in the first half of the season.

Agreed on mostly everything, but the whole “I’m not my dad” thing was definitely for him. Start of the show he wanted to be just like him and he saw Omnimans true colors eventually. Him having no remorse for what he was doing to Debbie and Mark probably made that even worse

- Darkwings apprentice will be back and will be a big plot line in the future - Mauler twins don't really have anything major to add to the plot when compared to planet conquering Viltrumites - Wdym by Atom Eves arc meant nothing? - Robot and Monster Girl arc isn't even over, they never even said it was over I think you're just being overly demanding of a show which has only finished 2 seasons
