The actor that plays eladio is from Cuba so it makes sense his Spanish is off for a dude who’s playing a Mexican character but I agree they should’ve had an actual Mexican play the character just like the one who played Lalo

Quicksilver from X-Men showcases super durability while running at least 8000x the speed of sound into water and other objects. Not being mush after that should be considered. But yeah, losing to the writers here.

Imo Peter clocking Thanos is an overhated scene. What Peter did was a natural response for his character considering what he did to Ego after Ego admitted to killing Peter's mom.

Literally stfu Colin proved in your invincible review of the show that you don’t know anything about writing. lol you’re such a joke who can’t handle criticism from people calling you out on your bs nobody wants to hear what you have to say and nobody cares. When invincible season 3 comes out don’t make a video or say anything about it nobody gives af what you have to say you’ve shown you have no media literacy and nobody should take you seriously.

How to write a speedster: They discover their power, it's amazing, and then they try to stop. Their brain smushes into the inside of their own skull and they die.

At what point does dragon ball or one punch man pose as something they're not? By this metric something like the last of us 2 would be on the same level of honesty as invincible is

2:22 He clearly has super durability because at the speed he is going at the water droplets would be far more dangerous than bullets. High psi water cutting machines can cut bulletproof glass easily so the water droplets and far more deadly

Apocalypse is a based speedster by your own arguments. His perception is extremely high and he has magic thats almost instantaneous. His physical body doesn't need to be that fast. This is assuming they never let him lose to something stupid.

It seems like your definition of “good writing” in the context of most of this video is naturalistic and subtle dialogue. Which I would agree is a facet of good writing, but not good writing in itself. The conversation I had with the cashier at Walmart was naturalistic enough but I wouldn’t consider it good writing. In the context of a story though, dialogue like that showcases a great understanding of the characters. I like your point that these stories can be successful if they know what they’re trying to be. But I would also like to assert that just because dialogue doesn’t sound like it would occur in reality, doesn’t mean it’s unsuitable to the characters or scenario. When a character from a Shakespeare story breaks into soliloquy, it isn’t exactly naturalistic - but it isn’t poorly written or untrue to the character either. Charm is not an element separate from good writing, and realism/subtly are just not always the goal of a story. I know it’s reductionist to describe it this way but obfuscating the point of your story is not a substitute for the story having actual depth.

thats why the invincible the comic books are much better because whatever character development the writer wanted to insert - theyre confined to like a few speech bubbles. ive heard that the animated show has the same writer. it does seem like a few things were improved at the beginning but otherwise maybe the writer is in unfamiliar medium that they have little experience with

This is a fantastic breakdown of the way most media wants to both be easily digestible and profound and it always falls flat. However, i diagree with your Cowboy Bebop assessment that show's entire story is told between the lines with subtle gestures and profoundly human interactions. It is deep although it doesn't take it self too seriously for the most part

One argument you could make for omniman is that he can speed towards something that he knows the location of. Like omniman could use his super strong muscles the same ways he punches someone hard and fast, to move his hand at super speed to the location of red rushes hand. Same with the invisible man, he can blits over there because he knows where he is. But if he were to move like that all the time for long distances his brain wouldnt be able to keep up with his movements and he would hit something or run through a wall.

Dash is also a terribly written speedster. He literally punches someone like 25 times consecutively in the same place at super speeds. And it does nothing. It’s basically as effective as a single punch from a regular adult. That’s stupid. CW levels of stupid. Some may say he’s only a kid. To that I say 1. Let a ten year old punch you 25 times in the face repeatedly and come back here. And 2. He was using super speed. His punches aren’t as strong as an adult but they’re coming at you like 10 times faster. So apparently despite multiple punches at insanely high velocity. Dash is only as strong as the bloke from the insurance company

Issue with show Red Rush is that the writers wanted to make the fight more drawn out than it really needed to be. It was done a lot better and simpler in the comics from what I can remember. Guy was not intended to be all that strong of a speedster, I'm not really sure why they had to buff him as much as they did in the show...
