I purchased my fiancé tickets to the CMA Theater show thats this Saturday and he’s sooo excited. His name is Kevin Dunnaway and he’s always been a huge Steve Vai fan, playing guitar himself for 45 years, you are who he always talks about. I only wish I could’ve afforded to get him the meet and greet because other than being on stage with you that would be the second biggest dream of his. Would be great if some of your poorer fans had some way to join that conversation. Not just have it only for rich people. I'm just a huge fan on disability that will always remember that bright sunny day 4 decades ago that I first heard The Attitude Song, and it forever changed what I thought was even possible for me to play on the guitar. I have about $20 each month after rent and bills, so I won't even be able to see the show, but if someone else can represent us poor folk there too at those more intimate settings, it would be such a happy thing for them, and also for me vicariously. 😊 I never got to meet you personally, though your passion for music and your take on life in general are very _familiar_ to me (not sure that's the right word), but the other guitarist in my old band once did meet you and said you were great to talk to, not full of yourself at all, just a regular guy who happened to have a decent amount of wisdom to pass on. That's probably part of why we both loved to talk to our own fans who were just starting out on their own musical journey as guitarists. Regardless, thank you for all of these past 4 decades of huge inspiration, and make no mistake; you can still surprise me after all this time. Through it all, it's always been your compassion (and the strength, honesty, and wisdom that comes naturally from owning compassion) that shines the brightest in my eyes. I love my job, but the worst thing about it is I never get my schedule for the following month until 2 weeks before the start of the month. So, even with months of lead-time on some event I'd like to go to, I can't commit until 2-6 weeks beforehand, and when it comes to things that require tickets there are none left by the time I know whether or not I'll be working. I've been wondering this lately... You have this wonderful way of using the whammy bar, where the tremolo arm is pointing backwards and you flick it with your hand quickly, leaving the whammy to vibrate freely, which produces this kind of nice stuttering/warble sound. I was thinking that it kinda resembles the stuttering sound which violin players use - especially in Irish folk music. I think it's called "spiccato" which is a bowing technique for string instruments (like violin) in which the bow freely bounces lightly upon the string. So, my question is; have you ever tried to create a traditional sounding Irish folk song by using your warble whammy technique in place of notes which usually call for spiccato?

At a meet and greet in Ohio, I talked to Chris, who I think is the drum tech/video guy for the tour. I showed him some of my three-camera footage of Randy Hansen, including some close-up guitar footage. I mentioned to Chris that I own 3 video cameras, my own audio gear, and am willing to just film and then hand over the SD cards to you guys...for free. I just have a true passion for filming guitarists, and I have been doing it for over 20 years. As it turned out, I was able to film a few songs in Warren Ohio that night, and found some footage on KZbin to create a sample video with. This video is NOT public, and will be removed in a few days. I made it solely to serve as a example of my filming and editing abilities. My footage begins at the 25 second mark, and was filmed under obviously less than ideal circumstances. So I thought I would explain 2people how this video song Ego Death came out about why, what it means, &that it is a tribute. Now I have built a ground up GEN2 (complete) vastly superiour Frank using a Steve Vai signature Gem as a foundation Steves Gem had thwidest flattest neck the original Eds Frank had. Super wide (44.4 mil bridge) &if it werent 4Vai, those were extinct specs coupled with Floyds Rose Tremelos. Satan controls all manufacuring. He demands all guitars be hell 2play. (It drains& saps yr soul) The wide flat neck is what made Ed's FrankenFloyd guitar so super easy 2play u see.. Shawn Lane? Worlds fastest guitarist? Is only well known guitarist humans history played my signature completely flat neck he &I were born almost same exact day lol he was Satans original avatar designed 2whitewash me. Are u starting 2c a pattern here yet? Those chairs in thvideo are a tribute 2the fact I ALWAYZ played, play my guitar comfortably sitting down with my "Explorer" perfectly positioned super comfortable ideal streamlined easy 2play perfectly supported angled neck 4max EASE of playing. It baffled me Ed played standing up. He would say "well I could play all that stuff too if I sat down but then I would look like Roy Orbison I wanna stand up &be crazy." Crazy& engineering dont mix is not thbest of approach 2optimizing with any tool or guitar. The worlds most technically perfect? Guitarist? With most experience &hours by far? Yup. He humbly subscribing me also. Cool huh? His name is Rick Graham he plays with a bogus set of arms thing that holds his guitar in thperfect generally angled position my ZZ did while he has 2reach over from his easy chair (a brutal backless Barbers stool lolmost) 2b able 2 even play the thing. So what happened was I found a foundation on which 2build my Franke2 on super sale by a tiny company building low cost Vai signatures with, as luck would have it, positively stellar quality neck since u didnt ask. This guitar I built now will 4ever be the epicenter of all b4 or after it. By far where I am is always where people will be. Oh. Also. ...notice all thguitarists sitting down this video? That guy sitting in throyal throne playing your basic Gibson Explorer. People dont know this, but I designed that Explorer shape 2 position neck @perfect angle while it supports your picking hand/arm with that long wood arm protruding. It also balances best from guitar straps while standing. Quote James Hetfield: "I dunno this is just my favorite of all my guitars." Explorer shape is actually quite notoriously branded as being "easy 2play," GuitarMax you tuber recently dubbed it "favorite of my sixty guitars." Ed built Frankexplorer try 2follow my lead.
