@@debraallen63 Debra ,the thing I don't like about his story was, it is too simplistic. He blamed everything but himself. Failure is rarely due to only one bad decision, it's a string of bad decisions we make that ends up badly for us all. He made his story simple so we could understand his pain. I'm 66 yo and at my age, I'm sure there is a lot more he's not talking about. The truth is not what he is saying, its everything he's not saying. In there lies the truth. I've had many good jobs in my life, only my last big career choice at 35 yo stuck. U have to zig when they zag, and always believe in your ability to land on your feet. I do feel badly for your situation. Find a way to heal.

Thank you. This is what we are trying to tell people about our company. Like one day this could be you but they don't want to donate or buy a shirt because we are not known. Then one day god forbid they do need our help now they want to ask for it. We won't turn them away but what about when we were trying to raise money to start the company and now you need our help. People rather support gofundme or Kickstarter about technology then a company trying to do good unless they are known. It's sad.

I can only do so much... some of the guys I see on a regular basis are extremely mentally ill. It’s hard to see a way out for them. I have no professional training and am physically and financially limited myself. If anything, I get too close to these guys and need to set better boundaries. No one wants to be home-less. Yes, most of us are just one or two paychecks from serious problems that could take what we have or what we are still paying on. I wish that people who do have - will share. Share your $5. coffee money a couple times a week with those who are on the corner with the cardboard sign. Talk to them - they are human as you are and acknowledgement means a lot. Care about others and share what you can.

@keecefly I cannot make a concise judgement as I cannot visit where "Mark' is at to see for myself .I do not even know where he is at . It was my opinion based on what Mark had said . Even "if" the Police are concerned about fire, they should also be concerned about a person staying warm . Maybe Police should get a fund going for the homeless and make sure they have top of the line sleeping bags , Mylar Blankets . There ARE battery operated heaters . Sounds like a good idea to me .! I have camped with propane heaters before without issue. I could understand them not allowing a campfire. But to take a heater that Mark bought and is 'his personal property' to keep himself warm just because the Police "think" it may cause a fire is thoughtless , cruel and uncaring. We care about animals being out in frigid weather and will receive warnings about the temps dipping down into the teens and please bring your pets in. But what about PEOPLE ? Also, I have known people who have lived at shelters in CA. If you are a senior citizen and get SS, half of that money will be taken by the shelter. So , how can you save money with deposits and all, for a small Apartment ? Plus, a lot goes on in Shelters that is dangerous, your few personal belongings get stolen and many do not want to risk it and feel safer elsewhere. Also, Shelters usually let you stay only up to 90 day and then you are thrown back out onto the Streets where you came from in the first place.!!! Its a vicious and cruel cycle . Only a few make it onto the housing Lists which are incredibly long . Peace.

I'm 69 and fully retired. I grew up in the San Fernando Valley. As a 10 year old boy moved there in 1961 into a tract of houses that hadn't been built yet. Only 3 models surrounded by dirt terraced hills. Our small boxy 3 bedroom two bath house cost $13.5 K. Now its up to $750K (we put in a pool, retaining walls and landscaping). Its a beautiful neighborhood now. Its a shame to think of how wide open it was in '61 and how the people that lived there can't even find a place to live now. Shocking and shameful.

Emily that's what I was wondering. He said he moved to L.A. after becoming homeless because his daughter is there. But then no mention was made after that of what's going on with that situation. Why can't him and his wife stay with their daughter? Can she help them with money? Can't they at least use the shower at her place? I love this channel, but I just don't get why Mark never just asks those questions to make it clear. This man is a saint. Imagine he was your father in the same city as you and he was homeless and you had a house or apartment. What could the possible reasons be of why you couldn't help him? Isn't that an important question to figure out if you're going to do an interview? I'm not trying to criticize. It's just that this video was heart wrenching. I know he's sitting in that tent right now and feeling bad, and then I'm just going to be left wondering all day why his daughter in L.A. can't help him. It's just really confusing and painful.

@@lynneprice8463 EXACTLY. Life is all about the choices we make. Back in 2006 I was about to become homeless, could not find work in Georgia to save my life. I filed chapter 11, locked up my beautiful home and drove all the way to Canada where I was able to find work paying me enough to dig myself out of the hole. I had to live in my vehicle while I worked 24/7, but I managed to keep my home and today I am set financially. I made the choice to get out of my comfort zone and face the great unknown completely alone. Not completely, I had Jesus.

This man seems like someone who just needs to catch a break and get back on his feet. This is exactly why I am saving for my rainy day. I have lived thru homelessness once and that was enuf for me. I was helped by someone who sneaked money to me and through a couple who ran a small church. Without those, I would probably be dead and buried in Mississippi. I really pray this couple gets a hand up soon.

Hell's favorite NPC #69OU812 . why do you always put things in a male vs female stand off? Don’t be mad at me because you don’t like Nancy Pelvis! I think people who are homeless due to economics need a hand up, speaking from experience. People who are homeless due to addiction need rehab or to quit on their own if they can. I don’t give homeless money unless I know their story and that’s to pay it forward for the help I received. So far, I only know of one!
@CiaofCleburne

Hell's favorite NPC #69OU812 . Many times at this age, people cannot see the screen or stand over a grill all day or walk safely on all that grease. Burger King is a good place for kids to work but not after a certain age. Many times they cannot shower daily or shave, and that’s a big no no for the workplace. Please don’t lump ALL homeless together. Not all are out there by choice. I know. It has nothing to do with feelings. It is knowledge and experience, something you still are acquiring as your life continues.

As much as I love listening to these stories, I hope to god that they paid him for this interview otherwise they're just making money off of people who literally have nothing. I've been where he is. I've slept in doorways and tents and had nothing to my name except for what's on my back. My life was like that for 3 years until March of this year. I honestly think I would still be in that situation if I wasn't a female. People are more likely to help you as a young female, I also had my dog with me. Now my dog and I are so thankful to be indoors. Things aren't perfect, but man did being in that situation humble me. I will never let a change in lifestyle cause me to lose sight of what's important. I still think of those I met out there who still struggle, I come back out often and help them. I can't change the world, but if all of us did a little something, whether it's giving a few bucks here and there, a meal, a coffee, water, handing out gloves, hand warmers, blankets, during the colder months. It doesn't take much to help people. Be kind guys. He's right, most of us are just a paycheck or two short of being where he is. Living indoors doesn't make us any better of a person.

Andrew Yang is running for president. One of his policies is to enforce a Universal Basic Income of $1,000 per month for every American adult. This will help those who need it the most, especially those living without a place to go. I pray he wins. If UBI were enforced decades ago, as M.L.King Jr wanted, I doubt homelessness would even exist today. Yang needs to win.

If you feel it in your heart you want to know her story, you should take this chance to talk to her. Maybe offer her a gift card for something to eat. I'm sure she is completely harmless, it would change her life if just one person would acknowledge her as a human with feeling's. There is a reason it's weighing on your heart, and you shall be repaid for your good deeds, when the time is right. God placed this on your heart.
