Wow!!!!! That's an awesome invitation you gave her. I lost my husband and two sons (ages 7 and 9) in an accident a long time ago. I totally FROZE UP for a year. One day I was watching TV and there was like a glittering light in the corner of the room. I heard, in my head, adult male voices that said they were my sons. They said they had important work to do where they were now and my attachment to them was holding them back. They spoke a bit harshly to me, said they appreciated the time they spent with me but I'm interfering with what they need to do now and I need to let them go and move on. It was actually a bit aggressive in the message. The sparkling light faded away and there I was dumb struck. Was I crazy, did I have a stroke? I was wide awake, never drank or did drugs. That day, a year after the funerals, I got in the shower, had my car I'd not started in a year jumped and went out applying for a job, and got one. What ever it was, what ever happened, it changed me for life. I believe it was my boys, but their voices were like young men. I decided not to live my live as a grave stone to the family I lost, but move on and cherish the good I learned when I had a family. I never dated or remarried. I can still see that sparking light and hear their voices to this day. Life changing moment for me. When I let them go I let myself go, too. I've used that lesson in many aspects of my life ever since.

@@emmaq3250 California didn't decide to have a high cost of living, that's what happens when there are many high paying jobs in the area. You'd be surprised how little "friends and family" care when it's a minor inconvenience to their life or space. They could care less. Shocking but the human mentality of today. And if you stay at a shelter you're somehow an untouchable or pitiful person to a lot of people in society. It can be cold and cruel. It's hard not to be bitter or have a cold heart after seeing how narcissistic a lot of people are. We all have that tendency because of social media "selfie culture", and the obsession with materialism and fame culture. Our connection to earth and our fellow man is extremely damaged. That's why there is so much homelessness and untreated addiction and mental health issues. It's years in the making.

South Dakota is one of the cheapest places to live and you can't live off a grocery store wage here. Maybe in the small towns you can scrape by but not in the larger ones. You have to make over $30k a year here to even begin to feel somewhat safe, and that's assuming nothing is wrong in your life.

@@likejohnnyandjune2024 In many small towns in Indiana, you can work at a local grocery or dollar store for $8.00 hr. If you work just 30 hrs/week you'll make over $900/ month. No taxes due to low income. In those areas you can rent a trailer or even a room in someone's house for $200/ month. You have a roof over your head in a safe town and a few hundred a month for other expenses. Way better than sleeping on the ground in L.A., making zero dollars, plus you have your dignity.
