UPDATE: here's is Timothy's Cash App $HoneyyDidIt. People are complaining Timothy has a gang tattoo. I did a little research: as a result of prison wars, all Hispanic California street gangs align themselves with the Sureño or Norteño movements. Judgmental people never take into account what people have to do to survive! I have visited Timothy six times now. Each time, Timothy has been respectful and kind. He cares about his girlfriend, their dogs, and their homeless neighbors. We need more people like Timothy and less judgmental assholes who look for excuses to put others down, having never walked in. their shoes.
@colibri13 жыл бұрын
Nothing necessarily wrong with gangs. In societies devoid of social support like the US, people look for support where they can. When gangs try to unite and reduce their fighting etc, cops stop them from improving their behavior, and cops infiltrate and attack them to prevent them from improving their behavior, not to mention cops helping flood poor neighborhoods with drugs to destroy them. In Brazil during the pandemic, gangs in favelas, who are always demonized and attacked by cops just like in the US, Brazilian gangs in favelas organized food delivery and other necessary activities in neighborhoods, something social services did not do.

Many have crazy histories (drug addiction, mental illness & incarceration) leading them down this dark path & it's difficult to climb out of this hole. If 5 people were stranded on an island without any resources to survive, the whole nation would freak out, have pity on them, and would rescue them immediately with helicopters and everything. But we walk past hundreds of people on the streets who don't have ANY resources to survive, even though they are in the middle of civilization. It's crazy to me how everyone can have a warm bed to sleep on in the cold, food to eat, water to drink, and a secure place to live and walk past someone who doesn't have those things and not do anything even though they can. Like, these people could die out in the cold, and no one would even look at them. It seems like the second someone becomes homeless they are immediately lower than a dog. Seriously, people take better care for homeless dogs than they do homeless people.
@colibri13 жыл бұрын
On the homeless disappearing, possibly because of cops, I've had homeless people tell me a number of times that homeless people just suddenly disappear, no one able to find them. I once was in an area in the US where homeless people commonly went through trash dumpsters. I saw a probably homeless man there with a backpack walking toward a dumpster, thought nothing of it, went back to what I was doing, then heard a gunshot and a cry for help, followed by a car door slamming and the sound of tires racing away. I ran in the direction of the sound to see what it was and saw the homeless guy's backpack abandoned beside a dumpster and no sign of the homeless guy. In Brazil and other far-right Latin American countries, it is not uncommon for paramilitaries/death squads/etc, often made up of off-duty cops, to kidnap and murder the poor and homeless, especially homeless children. That probably happens in the US these days, too.

If the homeless in LA get a home, and then they become the victim of a crime, the person would refuse to call the police for help, after being the victim at police hands while homeless. And I was gonna say, "Next they'll throw away his food," and right after I thought that, he said they threw his food away. What happened to "serve and protect?" "Arrest" isn't the entirety of the police's job. "Service" is the job of the police. "Arrest" is just part of their job. But, people like this guy would say "The job of the police is to harass you and kick you while you're down." Because that's how they treat him. The very people who are there to protect you from such behavior, are, themselves, the ones treating him that way. What I would say to this guy is: Find a place outside LA, where you can hide from everyone. If there's a cave in the mountains (it IS California, after all) ..... A place like that, away from the city, away from the suburbs, away from all human population, and where no human can find you......live there. That's what I would tell this guy.

Law enforcement should be ashamed of themselves. Things continue to get worse. Such a sad world anymore.

Try Canada in the winter when its -35C. The government doesn't care, Land of the rich and entitled. Ripping apart homeless encampments is happening here too. Politicians just want them to go away. Beyond cruel.

I have traveled through more than 70 countries and never have seen the number of homeless that we have. Does anyone know of a good book or study as to why this is? India has a reputation for having a child homeless problem but it is my understanding that we in the U.S. have more homeless children despite that India has 4x the population.
