Earth Observation Based Approaches for Archaeological Interpretation and Cultural Heritage Protection and Conservation
Nicola Masini is the Research Director of the CNR-ISPC and leads the Italian Archaeogeophysics and Heritage Conservation Mission (ITACA) in Peru. He is a Professor at the University of Basilicata, teaching Fundamentals of Restoration. He is Editor-in-Chief and co-founder of Heritage Journal. He has authored over 420 scientific publications in fields such as remote sensing in archaeology and non-invasive technologies for cultural heritage conservation. His research is centered on two key areas: 1) Remote Sensing, Archaeogeophysics, and AI: Site detection, archaeological interpretation, studying human-environment interactions, and monitoring cultural and natural heritage in changing environments; 2) Non-Invasive Imaging, Data Science, and Machine Learning: Applications for the conservation and monitoring of historical built heritage.
