I am a 74yr old lady living in a residential area 30miles north of New Orleans,La. USA I loved watching your video this evening after dinner. It gave me so much happiness to see the country side in the mountains and the creativity demonstrated in your building such a comfortable escape. And then at the end the evil destruction by someone with no appreciation for what God gives us. I was shocked and disheartened and so I had to send this message to let you know that I am one of so many who felt we were visiting in the mountains and it gave so much to us , so please do not be dismayed. Thank you. Judy

I watched the smile on this little abandoned van had when you walked up to it. I could feel it was hoping to bring life back into it’s cold empty shell. The more you worked on it, the more it tried to help you. Whenever you would leave it’s side, it hoped for your return. I will never forget when it leaped for joy seeing you walking towards it. My joy and tears were uncontrollable. The level of love and appreciation it gave you...while the fire burned and covering you with it’s protection is phenomenal. Thanking you for giving it warmth, happiness, companionship and life once again. For being a friend it probably has never know for a very, very long time. My point is, there’s a time for all things. You, Sir, has man up to your establishment and accomplishment. The life you have given it lives in yours and ours hearts. It will never be forgotten. You are it’s Hero and ours as well. Dima, here is what amazes me about this video. Time has passed since the events of the fall season. Although time has passed and wounds begin to heal, the people that follow you and support your videos are still very upset over what happened to the shelter. The wound has never healed. The work you did was a wonderful act of kindness and sacrifice and the people of the world that followed along your channel saw that as a metaphor to the way our world has been. They looked at the way ugliness and disparity has spread in their countries and throughout the world, they witnessed you creating beauty in your little corner of the your world and how it was destroyed. That single act of stupidity was almost like an assault on you and them and people everywhere simply couldn't take it any longer. It became personal and it cut very deep. I think you know all this already, perhaps not but it amazes me after reading all the comments so far, I felt exactly like everyone else. I know that we are supposed to forgive and forget but as I wrote, this event cut deep and this video only reminds everyone of how we all felt when it happened. He did more than just fix that old van and turn it into a wonderful shelter, he told a beautiful story. Ever read "My Side of the Mountain" by Jean Craighead George? It tells a similar wonderful story, but this gentleman (and he is a gentleman) let us see it happen. Storytelling is art. This is art. No one has destroyed it and no one can. It is beautiful and it tells the truth.

@@Janet4444 I didn't even know she wrote other books. I might have forgotten reading them. I didn't remember reading "The Lion the Witch and the Wardrobe" until I read it again. Within a few sentences, the rest came flooding back.. I could never forget My Side of the Mountain though. Remember Sam's Hemlock tree with a 6 foot hollow for shelter? He vents a fire, makes a deerskins "door" he and Frightful hunted. Remember the lady who picks his strawberries and he is too polite to stop her.. By Winter he is starving, and she brings strawberry preserves and all these wonderful people help him survive Winter by bringing him food and supplies. That story captured my imagine just like this man and his trailer. Remember the "The Boxcar Children" by Gertrude Chandler Warner, another Newbury Metalist? Great storytelling is food for the imagination. This video is a different genre telling a familiar story about survival, giving (like Sam's friends gave to him) and life. Vandals can't steal that unless we let them. I won't let rewriting the end of this beautiful story. I imagine someone like Sam or the Alden children taking refuge there. They fish and forage wild berries, mushrooms, acorns, and dandelion greens and fresh water from a stream. They lights a fire early and boil the acorns for hours to leech them so they taste like delicious beans, with the fish, berries, mushrooms and greens.. They make the beds using backpacks as a pillows and cover up with blankets they brought along. The night grows cold but the fire is so warm. They pray to God to protect them and they ask that God bless the man who created this space for them to rest. The eldest brother and sister take turns keeping the fire burning all night so the little ones aren't cold. They make a breakfast of last night's leftovers and clean up the trailer, leaving behind no trace they were there both out of politeness and so no one can track them. They leave better rested and better able to finish the last leg of their long journey ahead. Later when they are safe and home they think about the man who made the trailer a home for them and know they could have never made the trip without him and without his kindness. When the eldest son is 20 and in college, he goes back to camp but sees the trailer in disarray. Vandals have ruined it. He visits a hardware stores and buys everything he needs. Then he restores it to the way he remembered it and will always remember it. He takes a few photos and sends them to his siblings. It makes them so happy to see the trailer the way they remember. He doesn't tell them the sad way he found it. He spares them that and they never forget the stranger that made their very survival and escape possible. . -----THAT is my ending. :)).

That sucks that your shelter got wrecked. A shelter like this saved my uncle and his friends life. They were hunting in northern Maine when a freak snow storm came through. They couldn't see 2 feet in front of them. They just happened to walk into an old bus that was used as a hunting camp with a wood stove and all. If they had been a few feet off either side, they would have walked right by it.

This man never ceases to amaze and entertain me. Not only with his bushcraft skills, but with some majestic camera work and most importantly, he always leaves a place much nicer than he found it, a lesson the whole world should practice more often. Still the Chuck Norris of bushcraft imo. Greetings from Oz 👍

Man, I can’t imagine how crushing it must’ve felt to see people destroy my creation after doing all that work, not to mention trekking all that way with a damn wood stove strapped to my back. ‘Leave things better than you found it,’ is the motto of many travelers, adventurers, and explorers. Even if others ruined it, at least you can move forward in the world knowing you did just that.

And you so deserved to enjoy it. Someone went to a lot of trouble to give you a message they didn’t want you there! The massive destruction that was done there, almost unbelievable! Could humans do this, are they powerful enough to do this destruction or was it the furry kind? Anyways,I wish you the best future possible,be safe, take care! I watch a lot of videos on KZbin and this one was the best. Of course the ending was so disappointing. I’m so sorry. I thought those cruel things only happened in USA. I’ve always been so disappointed when I watch videos where people come into an abandoned nice houses and others before them trashed it. I’ve always said I’d love to see someone come and clean it up. You cleaned the truck up so nicely. I like how you are tidy. Jesus bless you and your family. I’m glad you at least got your beautiful work on video and we got to see it. ❤️
