This is one of their more rare slow songs. In general they're more upbeat. New Sensation, Bitter Tears, What You Need. Anything from their live concert at Wembley is great. They were essentially one of the top 3 bands in the late 80s, early 90s..on MTV constantly. They're real legends, Unfortunately Micheal Hutchence, the lead singer, died in 1997.

People/reactors who react to this as their first INXS song are pleasantly surprised by the saxophone solo. The saxophone isn't on every INXS track, but it is frequent on their music. Kirk Pengilly is the saxophonist, but he mainly plays guitar in the band.

An FYI on Michael. He had terrible stage fright. He also was very nearsighted. By not wearing glasses onstage he couldn't see past the 1st row of fans and didn't get so nervous. Saw them more than once in the 80s, he was a great front man.

Love that Australian music. Hutchence slowed the song down to the tempo of a Viennese waltz, so of course the Director, another great Australian, shot it along the banks of the Vitava in Prague. Amazing song. When Hutchence died, this song was playing as they carried his coffin out of Sydney's St. Andrew's Cathedral.

@@drakulkacz6489 My apologies. The song is indeed at the tempo of a Viennese waltz, and the city is indeed Prague so I simply made a very incorrect assumption about that being the Danude. Michael - a poet - wrote the song for ex girlfriemd Michele Bennet. Michael Hutchence was beautiful, charismatic and a wonderful singer..a baritone where most lead singers were tenors. He was magical and at heart a humble sensitive guy, even shy. His superstardom and hard work played a huge part in this group of friends becoming the biggest band to ever come out of Oz. Pick just about any INXS song and it will be a great jam. They are one of my all time favorite bands.
@Robbo7662 жыл бұрын
Being a Sydney boy, I first noticed INXS on a billboard for a gig they were doing at a local pub in 1979 and I read the name as Inks. So, I just thought the band were called The Inks or something like that. Then I found out it was an abreviation of inexcess and the name was inspired by IXL jam (breadspread) and XTC (British band). In brief, Midnight Oil's manager gave them their name because their original name, The Farris Brothers, was kinda crap. I got to see these guys numerous times in the 80's, and it was a no brainer that they'd do well internationally if they stuck at it. Not putting my local music scene down, but a lot of our bands were either masculine and brooding, or arty and brooding. Michael Hutchence was a bit of a brooding type, but he knew how to use hairspray and give the ladies a fantasy. That's what separated INXS from hyper masculine Aussie bands like Air Supply (just joking). Nice to see the Michael Hutchence trick still working.
