He’s certainly grown on us. I think his win against Wisconsin in 2021 to put Iowa in the title game played a big role in that. The early rhetoric of the gophers becoming the Alabama of the North was tough to stomach but he’s built a winner that doesn’t make many mistakes.

I have been a die hard Hawkeye fan for my entire life. Admittedly I have a very average football IQ... your guys' podcast is far and a way the best Hawkeye podcast/channel out there. The ending thoughts were fucking A1 perfect. I know I've said shit about Brian and a good majority of the time, he's earned the frustrations that people have with him. I want so desperately for these guys to succeed, and we have to understand that Brian and Kirk want it more than me. My only thoughts on the Wisconsin game apart from what a TREMENDOUS job that Castro did on defense (should've gotten B10 Defensive POTW), was just some confusion that I had with not only going for it on a 4th and 3 on the first drive in a game that we knew was gonna be decided by mere inches, but having Ragaini of all guys running that sweep. We've leaned into the meme of Tory Taylor punting 300+ yards EVERY GAME, we've leaned into the TEU meme, why not lean into Sneakin' Deacon and let him just bull forwards for 1-7 yards? Or take the points? Also, we actually milked the clock on offense too. Holy shit man holy shit man holy shit. We milked... The clock.... On offense. Why is it that I feel even better about this team now than I did in the beginning of the year, being down QB1 and TE1&2? I think we've found a niche on offense. The three-headed monster that KJ2, Jaz, and Williams have the potential to be is insane. Maybe it's about making a statement - maybe due to the circumstances we're in right now, Kirk and the whole coaching staff is saying "We don't need to bend to the way everyone wants college football to move, we can win a football game the same way we did 100 years ago." I stand by my previous concerns and critisms, but we've now shown that we can win, and win above all the BS that happens in a season. Hawks by (only like 4 points tbh but hey) a million!

You were wrong about Iowa fans not showing their displeasure with that effort by our offense. Winning games has only covered the stink of our offense, as well as our utter failure to recruit, develop and coach quarterbacks. This team should have received the loud boos they earned.

Have you ever watched a game where you get excited for Special Teams and Defense but you almost cannot watch the Offense. IOWA football will give you a heart attack. I like the old school low scoring games. Brian Ferentz still needs to go. Iowa's defense is insanely good.

Iowa is bad enough on offense that it should NEVER telegraph run or pass. I wish 5-wide, empty backfield would NEVER occur in Iowa’s scheme. I wish Brian would call every single pass off play action. I guess he wants to save 1.5 seconds with the shotgun, but he could run play action out of the gun. Without a serious passing game, Iowa is in trouble unless Deacon can start connecting with a big play now and then off play action. Seth Anderson and Nico need to step up.

I’ve never liked PJ Fleck. For some reason I ended up watching his press conference yesterday. I hate to say it but I at least respect the guy. His outfits and rah rah demeanor are cringy and easy to hate on, but I don’t hate him as a coach anymore. He’s certainly a much better interview than Kirk 😂 we know what Kirk will say at a press conference before he says it. It’s cute but not super insightful

All of these statements apply unless you’re playing the big 3. I think it’s up to you guys as the fans to decide expectations for the program. Would 11-2 with 2 massive blowouts suffice? Truly asking

The bounces went the opposite way against PSU. There’s a reality where Iowa is in a 3-3, or 6-3 game at half if not for the two careless TOs and missing on the opportunity to recover PSU’s muffed punt. That is without projecting a single first down for Iowa following any of those bad plays. It likely would have still resulted in a 17-6 or 17-9 loss but I think Iowa fans could stomach that. If you had that halftime lead, does the defense play harder? Does the offense relax a little bit and protect Cade with more runs? It’s a lot of ifs and buts - but I think it’s worth a consideration I think Michigan would crush us and win the big ten. But I think Iowa is capable of competing with OSU and PSU in a muck it up game. PSU didn’t not run the ball well.

Good show. I watch many, many shows like this one. Here is the 800 lb gorilla in the room. The Iowa offense is a HUGE laughing stock among Analysts, HUGE. So much so, outside the Hawkeye bubble, I hear smart CFB guys saying that Iowa has zero chance of making the CFP. Even a 12 and 1 Iowa that beats Michigan or Ohio State in the Big10 Title Game will be left out by the committee. Why? They say you can't have the worst offense in the country be a playoff team. At first, I thought that is silly, but then I realized it is probably true. Kirk will never make a playoff and will certainly never win a national title. Winning the West has been the only achievable goal for Kirk. That is gone next year. Back to 8 and 4 Kirk next year. Sorry Mate, you won't even see the Outback ever again. It is time for you to take a walkabout.
