We live in rural Iowa and the plows are always a welcome sight. Knowing a bit more about the procedures they follow and the challenges they deal with helps us appreciate their efforts and share the roads with them safely.

At Chicagos O'hare field they have 6ft high plows, that plow runways in tandem @ 50 mph, only the lead truck can see, all the rest run off the plow in front of them visually ..snow goes completely over the top of the truck on an angle

I can see hitting a manhole or bridge expansion joint with that ice blade for sure. And 10 miles per hour you might as well stay home.
