I didn't dislike it, but was expecting actual IPv4 and IPv6 explanations, such as how networks communicate between each other using both protocols. This video spends about one minute explaining what IPv4 and IPv6 are, and then 8 minutes teaching binary/hex/decimal conversion.

I have dual adaptors or both my laptop and my desktop. I have IPV6 going thru one adaptor, and IPV4 going thru the other adaptor. IPV6 traffic handled by their own adaptors are going thru almost twice as much data. Its a way to split your traffic as well.

There are enough /48 IPv6 address prefixes available to give every person on the planet about 4000 allocations before IANA has to release some more of the 80% of the space which is still undefined. Another way to look at it is 2^52 addresses for every observable star in the known universe or one IPv6 address for every atom on the surface of the earth. Yeah, it’ll take a while.
@tylercrawford82525 жыл бұрын
@@netpilot5 Of course! The texts I've read have suggested that the number of IPv6 address is equal to the number of grains of sand on Earth. I'm simply saying that there was a time when we thought we'd never deplete IPv4 address space. Now, here we are saying the same thing about IPv6. I agree that if the amount of IPv6 address space is exhausted, many of us will be long gone. I mean, we've found a way to keep IPv4 around this long.
@netpilot55 жыл бұрын
@Tyler Crawford Did you know that IPv4 lasted less than 30 years before its address space was exhausted?
@tylercrawford82525 жыл бұрын
Netpilot Yep. I believe we exhausted our address space on this side of the globe in 2011. Did you know that in 1981, the world had only 4.5 billion people? Today, much of the world remains without Internet access, electricity, etc. And, we still haven’t colonized Mars. Your point was taken. This doesn’t need to be a debate.
