Excellent, thanks for the instructions. I’ve been using Evernote because of its ability to easily link calendar events to notes. I’m going to replace Evernote with Apple Notes using this method to link to calendar entries, especially since Evernote announced they are increasing their annual subscription cost to $129.99 US.

Thank you for showing us how to do this. I’m surprised it’s this complicated! I’ve been using the Notes app to scan receipts from any kind of appointment, dr, car repair, etc. I’d like to be able to actually put the scan in the calendar on the appointment. That way if the note was ever deleted, it would still be in or on the calendar.

Love your videos Rich but this one was quite complicated! I need to have two iPads on the go to watch and copy everything you do. There’s one thing I would add to the medical notes - mileage, parking and other out of pocket expenses. Could I mark these items in some way so that when tax season comes round I have all my expenses in one place? Just looking for the moon! Thanks!

good job, very useful! I have an another option, but not quite as good. I have added the app Fantastical and synced with apple calendars. Must highlight test and right click to Share option. Now I can just SHARE to fantastical and then It copies back to my apple calendar. however it won't create a link from calendar back to notes, just takes a copy. When apple finally offers a share calendar item directly I won't need to do this.. ...\

It seems that anywhere there is the ability to add a url in a Mac app you can share a link. However, you cannot add more than one url. So if you have a website or a zoom call that needs the url field it won’t let you do it properly. Also, it won’t let you do this if you were invited to an event that is in your calendar or a subscribed event. Only events that you create can be linked.

Great videos, I view them a lot but I was wondering if you have a way to create a a note - with a table - where I could keep readings taken on blood sugars, which I monitor several times a day due to hypoglycaemia. I was trying to create a chart/table with three columns, one for the date, one for time and one for blood sugar levels. However I was wondering if there is a way to have the table auto fill the date and possibly the time too. Would you know of a way to facilitate this?

The Invite with Link is available on iPhone as long as you have Collaborate chosen instead of Send Copy in the Share dialog. The steps are the same after that.

Easier Way. Before selecting "Invite with Link", change who can access to "Anyone with Link". This will copy the link directly to the clipboard without having to invite yourself.

Good video, thank you. However discovered couple of issues, at least with my iPad (IOS 17.4.1). The invite to link button does not add to the default row after first using. The link in calendar will work, but will not link to the note on subsequent attempts, (error message something about user has stopped sharing it you don’t have permission…). There also seems to be a “copy link” button that will sometimes appear on the note sharing drop down, but it appears sporadically. Apple could make linking to Calendar a lot simpler.

Correction to previous. I can find Invite with Link on my iMac Note, but not on my iPad or iPhone. I was able to connect the note and calendar using Notes on the iMac. All devices have latest IOS.

I agree. I just have one calendar so that I can see every thing I have listed. Often times I have 2 completely different appointments in one day such as a doctor and car maintenance in one day. Other than that it is a great video. On another topic how about another video on the Apple Watch. Happy New Year 🎊

@@kathleenwanek3964 I have 1 calendar for my appointments too. It gets too confusing when I have more than 1 calendar for me. If someone wants to have lunch as an example on a specific day, I check my calendar to see what appointments I have to see if I’m free that day. Or if my boss asks me if I can work overtime next Monday, I’ll check my calendar to see if there are appointments.

You may be using a number of calendars that contain New Year's Day (and other holidays). Check your calendar list. There, you can uncheck calendars one by one and watch the duplicates disappear. Hope this makes sense!

As far as I can tell, this can only be done on the iPad. That's a shame too. Apple needs to fix this. Wish I could be more helpful.

So I've been mulling a round with a video on this very topic. The utility of each app and how they speak to one another. And yes, you can link a note to a reminder. Just use the share sheet as shown in the video. When you've copied the link paste it in the reminder field "URL". Now, you have reminder with a link back to a detailed note!

The tip to embed links to Apple Notes App from the calendar is really useful when the notes contain lots text and images that would be required for the calendar event or a project activity that it represents. However notes related to a doctors appointment could be added to the notes field of the calendar event itself without having to go through the abovementioned jugglery.

Correct. When I made this video I was thinking about building a medical history and having it located in one place. Finding a single medical folder and all the notes it contains is way easier than scrolling through the calendar trying to find doctor appointments and then reading notes to see if it's what you're looking for. But your point is well taken and I hope others see your comment. I should've mentioned this the video. I'm still learning too!
