Basically its the same as ipad is disabled or iphone is disabled, from here you need to wipe the device :(

I have verified with apple support chat that once you see the "Ipad Unavailable" screen with no timer the apple store cannot recover the data only reset/restore backups , this blows my mind and I am still skeptical that this can be true! To add a "feature" that makes your files unrecoverable after 4-5 wrong passcode inputs seems crazy to me. BTW thanks for the vid/comment it helped me find the answers i was looking for. Looks like my family members data is gone with the wind. (no backups).

You're absolutely right. This feature makes me never want to own an Apple product again. Kids try to get into ipads all the time, they play around with it and press the wrong thing and you end up being locked out of your ipad and have to delete everything because it isn't backed up because you didn't pay for storage. This whole security feature needs to be chucked in the garbage in iOS 17. I don't know if it is new to iOS, but I know it is stupid. The whole point of me wanting to get back in my iPad is to recover what I do not want to erase with a factory reset. I don't understand how my ipad can still be connected to bluetooth and I can see my lock screen pic but I can't access my ipad. Why can't I just login the Apple ID page via my macbook and unlock the damn thing from there? SMH.

Thanks Rick for the explanation. I have a 9th Gen Ipad new. Kido entered in passcode incorrectly somewhere down the line while we were initially setting it up. After some looking into what the hec to do I downloaded 3Utools and all 3 attempts failed at 19%. Personally while I am not a fan of apple products period, my husband says security is good - well you dont say! Error received at each failed attempt: ERROR: Device failed to enter restore mode. Please make sure that idevice is connected with the usb cable and Apple Device Driver is installed correctly (btw - brand new device!). So I changed cables, USB ports and it failed 2 attempts via 3Utools. Changed back to OEM cable and original USB port and restored via itunes successfully stupidly enough. Going through the comments here - i think it's hit and miss either way. I restored on a Windows 10 Laptop. What I did not expect at the end of restoring via itunes was for 3Utools to open and verify/check off restore as successful. It's a convoluted process as a whole IMHO.

However, your comment inspired me to keep trying on the MacOs Catalina Mac and Finder function from Apple itself. And Voila! I could successfully restore my iPad now after 2 hours of frustration! Instruction is very clear, concise and straightforward. I tried this but had encountered problem. It stopped at 18% regardless of using different laptop, pc, cord and ports. I believe this really worked but not for everyone. If this process doesn't work, you can try restoring your ipad using itunes. It worked for me. Just open the itunes, connect ipad using cord. Power off your device then long press the home button for recovery mode. There will be a pop up window, just click restore and wait for it to be downloaded for 15 mins. It will automatically restore your ipad.

Dont trust youtube comments that say they can fix it!! It is a scam!! They will demand payment first, then put you through this fake process like they are working on it, then they will ask you for more money to complete the process. They promise it is the final step... $200 dollars later and they will ask for one last payment.... your ipad/iPhone or whatever they are trying to fix will not get fixed, they just scam you for your money. They try and get qs much money as they can out of you... they will try and make it look legit with "hacking software or screenshots" but it is all fake. If a apple product is locked and the owner cant recover the password or reset, then the apple product is dead. There is no way around it. This is the bad thing about Apple products. You dont know how many laptops and ipads get sold to a 3rd party to restore and resell but can't because they are locked. All they do is strip it for usable parts and junk the main board because of the proprietary lock. There is no way around it.

The brand new iPad I am trying to open is my boss's. He basically set up his iPad upon purchase and was immediately distracted by someone and forgot his PW. He is the type of user that has a hard enough time remembering his Apple username and PW. Fortunately, I had written them down because I maintain the company computers with his account. I took the iPad home to do the process but I got stuck when signing in to Apple and they sent a verification code to my boss who is notorious for not responding very quickly. I am not sure he even gets emails on his phone, lol. I will wait until we are both in the office to try again. And BTW, iTunes is now called Music. Something I did not know because I use older machines.

My iPad frequently becomes disabled, because it is being used by my nonverbal autistic son as a speech device. Occasionally, there is an iOS update, that requires you enter a pass code after the update. However when I set up the iPad I never gave it a passcode, because it would make it difficult for my son to use it. I never understood the logic behind the iPad requiring a passcode that it never had. As my son tries multiple times to enter a pass code, eventually the iPad gets locked out for a number of minutes, hours, or as in the case today, permanently. what I don't understand, is if you try to set up a new iPad Apple will push a six digit authentication code to your other devices allowing the new device to use your iTunes account. Why can they not just do the same thing for pass code locked iPads? It would be very simple for the find my iPad app, upon locating the iPad, to know that the iPad is locked, and to ask you if the iPad is currently in your possession. If it is, you should be able to unlock it with one of your other devices that is using the same iTunes account. Why this is not possible is mind-boggling.

If your iPad can’t go into recovery mode, you have to hold all the buttons at the same time until recovery mode pops up.

im having issues with my ipad my son got it onto the screen ipad locked press home button i did and nothing happened now i use itunes and it stuck on prepairing ipad for restore as the same with this software

If you have tried restoring the iPad on 3utools and iTunes and it's failing There might a more major fault with the iPad, Possibly try the restore on another computer and a different USB cable or contact a local phone PC repair shop

Quick question, I tried to enter my iPad into recovery mode and it showed the recovery mode logo for a split second then turned off again , what do I do ?

I hardly ever comment on videos but I have to on this one. I changed my iPad password to prevent my kids getting into it, but I did it while groggy and then my iPad died and I didn’t restart it until 1 week later. By then I was reminded I changed my password but could not remember it. I tried my old and more until it locked me out permanently. I came to terms with the fact that I’d lose all my data (I don’t back up to iCloud for my journal). I found this video and followed what was said. In the end I logged onto my iPad with my old password (the same as my phone) and to my pleasant surprise, I did not lose a single piece of data!! So THANK YOU!!!!!! 🙏🏻 you’re a hero!!
