Recently Dahua pushed out some new firmwares for their Eco-savvy 3.0 ePoE Series(Pro Series) cameras. One of the new features included was RTMP streaming from within the camera, let's take a look at that!

Hi Q.... Thanks for always your generosity with your Tim and knowledge. I am having an issue with my "old champ" at least I think its an old champ Dahua OEM ....but it does not have sound. I am unable to get it to push a stream to KZbin. I have done all the setting as you have said..... and I am able to login to the camera remotely from my offsite office so I know its on the internet. Hello! I am new to the camera streaming world and really have learned a lot from your videos. Being new to this I still have some questions. We run a goat farm and dairy and want to incorporate live stream video of our barn and pens for our followers to enjoy. I recently created a stream using a ubiquity cam however it requires me to go through Angel cam or two different processes to get it online. Neither of which work with KZbin. The cams you reviewed seem to be fairly hands off and curious if they would do what I want them to do, stream to you tube and not tie up my computer resources. Thank you.

You could port forward, but something like a "VPN in" solution would be much more secure (but require more hardware).

Since the latest firmware updates most Dahua series now support it. Check out the camera review I did for the 4K 2019 models, the vari-focal, although slightly less sharp then the 2018 turret style would be a good fit I think. No onboard audio with bullets though, but you can get the ZAS version to which you can attach a powered microphone.

Yes that is correct, if you give the camera an internet connection on it's ethernet port, it can push the stream to KZbin itself without a PC or anything else necessary.

Hello again, Thank you for very informative video and your recent answer to my question. I have another question: I have set this up using Dahua model IPC-HDW5231R-ZE and after some time, audio delay begins. After running for a few hours, audio is out of sync by up to 10 seconds. I have tried all bitrate settings for AAC audio sampling but none help. Only restarting the stream works. Video set to 50 frames 100 keyframes and youtube at ultra-low latency. Any thoughts or suggestions? Thanks!

Hi! Great job! I have a question: I have a IPC-HFW2431T-ZS with the V2.800.0000008.0.R, Build Date: 2019-06-19 Firmware - It supports RTMP, but I can not make it work with KZbin since it seems there is no stream. This camera do not have AUDIO, but other then that it is pretty similar to your camera. When I try to connect FACEBOOK I get a server address error, sems the key string to Facebook is much more complex then KZbin. Any idea where the problem is?

rtmp streaming to youtube only work with h264 and audio codec aac. so if your camera don't have those, it will not work with youtube rtmp

Yes, no problem, you can just disable IR and force the camera to color permanently. As long as there is enough light this will work without a problem.

I just purchased your favorite camera, the - HDW5831R-ZE 8MP and love it so far except I can't get it to talk to youtube for GoLive streaming. I've plugged in the URL put the / and then the key and no luck. I tested GoLive using a different camera running SDI into the computer using OBS encoder and youtube sees it. I followed exactly what you said to do in the video and nothing. Any suggestions? Seems so straight forward, yet no working.

Hey Ive got a question for our particular situation. How can I stream the video from a IPC-HDW5831R-ZE with a stereo audio feed from a different computer input? We need this for our Behind the scenes making of a music video and we want the audience to hear the clean audio from on set playback

You can't with direct streaming from the camera to KZbin. I suggest using OBS and getting the IP Camera feed over RTSP into OBS and then adding the stereo mix. You'll have to fiddle a bit with audio latency but you can get it pretty close. Then you can record and stream it from OBS to the Internet.

@@musicandmotionpictures8914 Yeah that is something you'll have to deal with if the source is an IP camera, the camera is always going to have a 1s to 2s delay. You do have cameras with an audio line-in and that takes away that issue. I have tested with those, and although you then don't have the issue sync issues it's low quality mono at best. :(

I don't think it will be a good solution, but look into getting the IP camera into OBS using RTSP and then use a video for windows device plugin for OBS to use it as a webcam. That will work, not sure if it will be good though.

The same one still actually, haven't come across a better one. Although the newest 4k contender I reviewed (2831t) would also be a good choice, little less in image quality but also cheaper.

Trying to set up a live stream of a church service; using a IPC-T5442T-ZE, i was able to get this to work; The only problem i have is once i end a live stream and then try to restart it, KZbin cant connect to the RTMP feed until i go back in the camera firmware to turn off RTMP and then back on.

I don't know, I don't own any model that isn't an official international model (yet). It doesn't matter where the camera comes from, only the model number does, on the internationally listed models you don't have to worry about firmware upgrade issues, but I do know with Chinese models you need to be careful with official NVR compatibility and the interface reverting to Chinese. Also, this RTMP stream firmware has been released for this line/models of camera but firmware for others cameras from the same timeframe don't have it, so no clue which will or won't get it.

Make sure the camera is in H254 compatible settings with KZbin and try setting audio to AAC. Otherwise test with a local NGINX server to troubleshoot what could be going wrong?

Techneclly firmware updates should be very safe as long as the power doesn't go out during the upgrade and you should be upgrading the firmware for security reasons

I followed your video but this camera does not have audio so I was not able to set Audio to AAC as you suggest. I set the RTMP coustom address using my streaming key rtmp://x.rtmp.kzbin.info****-****-****-****-**** but KZbin says it has received No Data. Do I need a camera that has Audio? Do I need to change a setting somewhere so the camera sends a silent AAC audio track? Is there a way to make this camera sent RTMP to KZbin? Thank you.

Poh, good question, I've only tried it on cameras that do have audio, I don't know if KZbin requires an audio stream before accepting video data. Sorry about that.

Now the ask is how do I stream the MNVR display with all the camera output as we usually have in grids, to youtube without having any other onboard computer. From an IP camera like this? They aren't meant for low latency applications, will always be one or two second from the in stream buffering alone.

Agreed that Dahua is very sketchy when it comes to firmware updates. This also goes for the way that they name the firmware files and organize them on their web sites. Each time I go looking for one, it's an adventure, because, yeah, I've bricked my share of IP cameras over the years. Thankfully none of the ones that I've bricked have been Dahua cameras, but yeah, it's happened and is unpleasant.

Yup, the HDW5831R is still my most recommended 4K camera. I have tested some new models like the recent HDW2831T and it's still less in image quality (although good for the cheaper price). I don't use the RTMP streaming too often myself right now, but when I did new firmwares only improved stability of it. I have about 30 of these cameras and none has failed since purchasing. :)

@@IntermitTech are there high temperatures where you are? In the location where this will be mounted, I think temperatures might reach about 48.9 degrees (celsius). It would be rare but could occur.

Normally no, but during our CampZone event last year we had about 18 outside in the scorching sun above 40c and none had any issues (one shorted during a rain storm, but again that was bad cabling work and I was able to repair that one too with only replacing the plug). Look up the CampZone videos, you'll see them. :)
