iPhone 11 Pro vs Pixel 4 - Google didn't see THIS coming?!

The last time we compared products made by Apple and Google, it was iPhone X vs Pixel 2 XL. At the time both were my perfect Daily Driver combo but neither was perfect. One had the most futuristic design of the year and filmed some great video, the other had more of a dated design, but the best camera of the year, and was invaluable to me because of Google Fi, which was still exclusive to Google Phones.
And then things shifted in 2018. On one hand Apple's choice to iterate was completely uninspired and conservative, and the Google Pixel 3 was a step in the right direction from a materials perspective, and yet a huge step back when it came to design. I really wanted to love them, but I honestly ended up ignoring them most of the time.
This year the story is kind of different. These are two phones competing in the same category, with very different approaches. On one corner we have the iPhone 11 Pro, Apple's latest and greatest, what Apple calls, Pro cameras, Pro display, Pro performance. On the other we have the Google Pixel 4, what the company simply dubs - The Google Phone, period.

You can get a 128gb NVMe SSD iPhone 11 for cheaper than the base variant of the Pixel 4. Very close and definitely more useful cameras. Better videography Better battery life. Similar build quality. Only slight compromise being display which is equally sharp but the pixel gives OLED and 90hz. The iPhone 11 is just better value. (better software)

Omar Arab What do you mean? The Pro has better battery by a far margin, way better security as the the Pixels compromised Face unlock won’t have a bug fix because it’s a hardware failure. Pro also has the better display, and far superior performance with heavy emphasis on the performance. Sorry, you're right. I should've been more explicit with the comment. What I meant was all or nothing is that The Pixel gives you two photos. The iPhone you have to manually switch stuff all on or off.

Pocketnow I still don’t quite understand your point of criticism. The iPhone allows you to turn the portrait mode affect completely off or adjust the level of blur as you want it. I don’t see how that is inferior to giving you two pictures one with a blur effect that you cannot change and the other without it completely. What is the advantage of the second picture when I can do the same thing on an iPhone with one picture? I must confess, I have never had a pixel phone. Does it give you two pictures every single time you take a portrait mode shot? Because that would seem like more of an annoyance to me than a benefit. Also you neglected to mention that the iPhone allows you to take portrait mode shots from the wide angle or the telephoto lens where is the pixel this year has limited it to the telephoto lens only

@@mjsabie8517 I have the pixel 3 camera installed on my S10+ and yes..I have tons of doubles. S10+ allows you to changed the blur afterwards which Google should incorporate. The clarity is amazing but double pics you can't edit is not.

Taco Salad thanks for clarifying. I think the iPhone method makes the most sense which is the same method used by Samsung. As long as you take the picture with portrait mode you can turn it on or off in post as well as adjust the blur level. I also like some of apples filters. I added the new high key mono filter to a picture of my daughter before homecoming dance this year and the result was stunning.

Also Feature Drop has the ability to make the Pixel come into it's own over time. Think it's gonna be the better long term invesetment.

I’ve had Pixel devices and always was android but I just got my first iPhone for first time ever. We’ll see how this 11 pro does. So far I dig it, although I wish it had always on capability. I disagree with the smoothness of the gestures/swiping/controls. I continually was frustrated with the gestures on Pixel and constantly had to repeat the gesture to get the desired command, such as, when swipe from bottom to get back home, or swipe up to get the multi-screen, I would pull up the all apps drawer. iPhone's gestures are far better, fluid, and the I often get the desired command. It's definitely "buttery" as they say. The Pixel gestures just seem to copy iOS but, not as excellent.

I'm a pixel user at the moment but I think I will switch to Samsung again. The note series has always been great. Both I phone and Samsung release 6 months apart and they seem to just keep taking turns at the best phone throne. So at the end of the day theres no point in comparing them.

@@octoslut it really is a downgrade. I got the pixel because it had a few more features I liked and a better camera. I do enjoy my pixel but when the s11 and note 11 comes out it will most likely have the same camera preformance as the pixel 4 but with better video. Not to mention way better preformance and display. I've had an I phone back when the 7 was out but but didn't really like how I phone felt limited when browsing the web and just didn't like the layout. I then had the s8 which I liked a lot honestly liked it as much as my pixel 3 aside from the camera. Samsung overall is great in everything compared to pixel which is great in its features and camera. I even went to Best buy to see the new I phone 11 pro and pixel 4. Both were good but then I went over to the note 10 which is a little older then the 2 and the experience felt a lot better when using it. The display and the design of the phone was amazing it felt perfect imo. It made the pixel and I phone seem overrated. That's why I'm gonna wait for the new note 11 to replace my pixel 3.

I'm an iphone 11 pro max user but, I doubt the Pixel software is so amazing that it would make a big enough dent against the hardware masterpiece that is the Note 10+. That would be such a waste of $, not to mention Pixel caps at 128gb and you'd lose the S-Pen, in-screen fingerprint, WiFi 6, 4K-60 and ultrawide lens, a bigger much brighter screen and 256gb plus expandable storage that'll easily add another 512gb or 1Tb.

Don't do it you'll definitely regret it. I was feeling the same as you did last generation went with an iPhone and it doesn't matter how beasty and sexy the device is the operating system is absolutely garbage and makes it feel like you were using a kid's toy that your parents locked down

It´s a Pixel..:) Great stills with "lower" spec. and little battery. That "little" extra the stills make is not worth it over the Overall package of the 11 Pro Max this year it seems. .) Cudos to the 90hz for Google tho..:) And no WIDE!?...bad bad from google to not inc. Wide on camera. :)

These reviewers focus so much on the cameras and this mode and that mode. But what about the phone. Things like call quality or reception in various scenarios. Signal strength with different carriers. Amount of failed\dropped calls. Or things like hand fatigue if on a long call without earbuds. You know a review for people that actually buy the phone to use it as a phone.

This is the first time ever (as a hardcore Android user) that I considered an iphone. The Pixel 4 seems like a great device, but I still love my Note 9 enough that an upgrade isn't worth it right now. And the iphone has a lot of features that I really like. I'm gonna wait for the Pixel 5, and see if Google can 'right' some of the wrongs on their phone (storage, wide angle lens, battery capacity, mobile payments with their facial recognition, more radar actions). Otherwise, I might have to really consider the alternative...🍎

Other than screen the pixel line hasn't really improved since the 2xl. The 3axl is great value though
