I love how there isn’t any structure to the video, and you guys are just out there doing your thing, shooting random scenes. The chill vibe was great-it’s a reprieve from all the high-energy videos out here on KZbin. I appreciated the comparisons. The iPhone 13 Pro shots look better to me in almost every single instance, and that isn’t a surprise. Great video, guys!

It literally looks like the exposure is set just a little too high on the 12 pro. If that was edited I bet they would look so similar color/contrast wise. Am I wrong?

Was going to say the same. Looks like whoever uses that 12 Pro had it set to a specific exposure in the settings under Preserve Settings > Exposure Adjustment

Great minds. One looks extremely overexposed [manually] .. heck.. if not on both. Maybe 13Pro is slightly underexposed to regain some details in the sky/clouds too. And edited.

Photos from the 13 are definitely richer, but you can always achieve the same result with some exposure tweaks on the 12pro. You can even do this in post processing. Good update but not worth the upgrade yet. iPhone 14 is going to be awesome.

Yea, I feel like the 13 Pro is the rough equivalent of pulling the 12 Pro down .2 on the exposure. It trusts itself more in a given lighting scenario.

Yeah they over exposed the hell out of the 12 … and it seems like they did it on purpose otherwise the video would be boring as hell if everything looked the same …. Claiming they used the same settings is useless … if one is way too over exposed

1 - the 12 seems to be OVER exposed - have you checked the settings? if it's not over exposing than. the photo quality of the 12 is not very good 2 - the phones re NOT in the same orientation - one will always show different, overall great vid - thx!!!

Could be something off in the settings but the 12 pro ranges from just being brighter to blown out in some instances. Regardless there is definitely an improvement in detail and color accuracy. Was very evident on the skin tones and fine details like the trees on the mountain side, skies etc. I have an 11pro (going to give it to my mom), 12pro Max and I’m waiting on the 13pro max to arrive in the mail. Will do my own comparisons but this was pretty good.

@@RennieAsh Can’t speak to MagSafe, but I ride a bike in a very aggressive way and had a rig attached to my handlebars with only the magnetic attachment on a OM4, and it held so tight I was shocked. It was in a bumper case, so I wasn’t worried about it dropping. But how well it held on magnetic power alone and stabilizing it… oh my…

Most of what you see is a choice made in the new Image Processor and SmartHDR 4. With grading you could probably get very similar results from the 12 pro max. But natural bokeh on the 1x (26mm equivalent) lens is not something you would get on the 12. Overall, it seems the 12 prefers a little more light (overexposure) and this washes out the colors somewhat. But the 13 gives you much more vivid colors which are not necessarily realistic. They seem very much like Kodak colors - based on what memories feel like in color. Would be interesting to see shots side by side with a color graph.

Exactly as you said in 8:37 for ultrawide, without good lighting it was bad. I also was uploading some tests with video and pics. I was focused for night shots iphone 13 pro vs iphone 12 and i am very surprised by the ultrawide on the 13 cause it is indeed much better now in lowlight.

With the 12 Pro's shooting in ProRaw, I found this years camera updates minuscule at best. I can adjust the brightness and colors reasonably with no penalties like in the past. I might not upgrade until the iPhone 15.

Larger sensors are a help though. Especially that Ultra wide On older iPhones you can use Lightrooms HDR raw (might be under technical preview if not showing).

to be honest , for me the 13 isnt really all that much better , not enough to upgrade from the 12 in my view. if what your doing is primarily picture taking and personal kept ( yea thats a term lol ) videos like alot of us are. Is the 13 picture quality " better"? ok sure....but realistically nothing that cant be rectified on the 12 with a quick and easy trip through say snapseed ...but thats just coming from a completely non professional whose just taking pics and vids for personal use… however if your phone is an X or older then absolutely upgrade to the 13
