Such a great explanation of so many things. I feel like a lot of people don’t realise all the accessibility features that phone have now! I use the magnifier a lot, I’m only really mildly short sighted (just graduated from boarder-line glasses to actually need glasses really) and the magnifier is SO useful for reading subtitles when I can’t make them bigger. And for taking some pretty cool macro photos! I also love the fall detector on my Apple Watch, it’s much cheaper than the fall system that my social worker wanted me to install! And much more realistic than having a carer around all the time. I also get notifications when my heart rate gets super high, I can tell when I need to use my reliever inhaler because my oxygen starts dropping, and I can message or phone my husband if I get stuck in the bath by yelling at Siri! It’s so great.

With the door detection and umbrella detection, was that an app you were using or was it a specific feature built into the camera? and if so, is it only for the iPhone 14?

It’s built into the Magnifier app with iOS 16. The door detector is more specific but the umbrella was detected from the overall image description feature built into the magnifier when using VoiceOver. It’s not exclusive to the 14.

That’s OK, I have the iPhone XR too, but I’m gonna update it because you could still do it, but are you on iOS 14 or 15? Because if you’re on iOS 15 it would not work but if you upgrade to iOS 16 it will❤❤

Does the 14 )lus have the sake Magnifier detection features of the Pro models?

Only phones with the LiDAR sensor which is unfortunately just the Pro models at this time.

Did you encounter the bug where voiceover would not turn on after reboot? Happened to a few devices with iOS 16. Also happened on my new 14 Pro.
