The following is something I've noticed with individuals your age and younger (like my teenage niece): The more we travel forward through time, the more powerful technology gets, which in turn means that newer and newer generations will inevitably use newer technology - which includes the advent of numerous social media platforms. This has created an artificial bubble where social behaviours and emotional maturity are not what they should be. As for me, I literally only use facebook when it comes to social media. To be fair, this is typical behaviour for someone with autism like myself. I've noticed autistic behaviours in younger individuals because of the aforementioned artificial bubble created by the newer use of technology. Both the inability to socialize and the lack of social skills is very apparent. This disability is something extremely normal for someone like myself, but it should NOT be "normal" for someone your age (or younger) who is neurotypical. For example, I prefer texting over calling. But in general, that's because this is a typically normal behaviour for someone on the spectrum. But when I was younger, I can tell you... Neurotypical teenagers LOVED talking on the phone with their friends. It was the next best thing to seeing them in person. When it comes to the lack of technology vs the emergence of post-modern technology, the latter has had a massively negative impact on a social scale. Younger generations are drowning right now, and I don't see it getting any better, sadly.
@Kenny-k7j14 күн бұрын
Yeah, most younger people think they have autism but they really don't. They just have similar symptoms to autistic people due to how technology has affected our brains.

I recently got mine and plan to use it as my primary phone too! I'm thinking about using my current iPhone for maps and music only when I'm in the car. I think google maps will be easier to navigate on the iPhone. But I can't wait to use my barbie phone! It's so cute!

For the texting issue in particular, I know that there were specific types of phones with a full (albeit small) slide-out keyboard back in the day right before smartphones started getting popular! Pressing the buttons from my experience took some force, but you get used to it after tinkering with it for a little bit. All the other issues though, I completely understand :P There are quite a few things required to live in the modern era that can't exactly be thrown away, like Email for example. Most jobs encourage digital application nowadays. Kinda wild.

5:59 I heard tons of people complaining about this. I quite like it! I can still send long texts (and I still do) and the only issue is having to switch keyboards when I want capital letters in the middle of my sentence or when I want the number 1 as I have to cycle through all of the symbols. I decided though a cheap flip phone wouldn't cut it as they either were too smart or had tons of irremovable bloatware. So I spent €108 on the AGM M8. Great phone.
@XennialTV4 ай бұрын
You don't need to switch keyboards, when you reach the letter you want all you do is keep it held for an extra second or two and it changes to a capital. Been that way since the 90's.

I totally agreed with you, I too unplugged myself out of my rut that I have been struggling for years, but not just any dumb phone, but even dumber than ever. I was the only kid who master this technique that nobody in my age had success with, the one and only, the rotary phone. I've used it for six months and it changed my life like a flip phone. It was the best decision because I too been addicted to my smartphone for 7 years until I had enough. Dumber and dumb phone for the W.

5:50 lady, back in the early 00's tapping the buttons multiple times to send a text was the only way to send messages and we could all do it extremely fast and we wouldn't even need to look at the keypad cos we had the letter location memorised. Also we would be texting eachother all the time having extensive conversations. We never found it an annoyance and never found it irritating, it was super easy. I am gobsmacked at how easy young people today are irritated and brought to annoyance.
@NickS-m3h4 ай бұрын
You have to remember that people who were children in the early 2000s or even the 2010s had no experience using those style of cellphones firsthand because children back then didnt have their own phones. It was their parents or older siblings using those. I was born in 2000 and my first phone was a smartphone in 2016. It makes sense why zoomers would be annoyed or frustrated by the change from a smartphone to a feature phone. The technology is incredibly different. Of course feature phones are much better. Smartphones have been a disaster for society as a whole.

Good video, i do the same, w the tcl phone. One good thing is it does data sharing as a hotspot. So going back to the old days keep your phone without a sim card w maps, youtube n note taking and a calculator. Use the smart phone sparingly. Tmobile allows you to use digits the voip app / text on your number. So if you do need to send a text you can do that too from your smartphone via the digits app. Cheers

Maybe think about it if it were the other way around: going to a smartphone from a dumb one, and someone made a video about the pros and cons of it. Eg “I loved that I could navigate to places easily, but I became a lot more anxious in front of people and found my mind would never switch off” etc. If that were me, I’d be like “why the hell would I want to switch to an iPhone then?”

My parents said no to the idea of a non mobile phone, and the easiest thing for me to do was just make all my addictive apps (except KZbin) a web browser instead. The inconvenience of having to manually log in to check on it made me spend less time on it. But another problem I had was the fact that high key, I do not go out nor are my friends and I really allowed to go out that often, unless we randomly went after school, so that we did and I hardly went on my media. Then I changed to a school that was nearly unwalkable and then began getting them as apps. High key it feels like the real solution is to actually be allowed to go outside and do stuff
