Been caseless since the iPhone X and a month into using a pitaka case cracked my screen right after no case and been since. Always have apple care but love the feeling and look without on my 14 pro space black. The only thing that happens is scratches on the side but does not matter for the overall feel and look.

Outside of real physical damage, I realize now that cosmetic wear like scratches don’t hurt trade in value at all. We hold on to our phones only long enough to trade up when it’s time. So cosmetic wear is only going to bother ONE person on this planet: you… IF you let it. There’s no tule we have to keep our phones in pristine condition I’ve realized

I purchased Applecare + for a reason but I’m just so used to using a case that using the phone without a case feels unnatural to me 😂

One drop and it’s getting scuffed up. Only go case-less if you have Care+ and your prepared for it to get it scratched. Honestly for me it’s either Care+ and a Glass Screen Protector or just use the phone case-less at home and put a case on when you go out.

What you keep in mind when it comes to the stainless steel: Only the silver models scratch this easily. All other colors are much more resistant there. I personally kinda would like to go caseless (even have AppleCare) but I'm also just a bit too nervous when doing it 😂 even tho I never had issues about dropping my phones etc. A few years back I even never had issues going Case less. Idk what changed in my mind.

Agree 100%! Why cover a beautiful device with a $10 rubber case from Amazon? I’ve been using iPhones naked for years now and prefer it so much more. The only time I cracked my screen I actually was using a case.

What do you think about the latter box designs (Tac also made a carbon copper ) that have that same type of case design that still shows the sides a bit around my power / volume button & top and bottom. Do you still believe I’ll get some of those kind of macro scratches along my 14 pro max?

I normally rock a Latercase, which is super thin and has a great feel. I’m not someone who ever drops a phone but my iPhone 11 Pro Max had a latercase, almost 4yrs old. I accidentally dropped it in the kitchen (tile floor) and it just happened to chip the upper left section of the phone right where the latercase ends on the upper left. Screen protector shattered but luckily the chip is the only damage. Better to be safe than sorry but up to you 😅

I got my 1st iPhone this year. Went through a few cases. Stuck w/ the  Leather Case. Glassfusion+ on the screen. I don’t have AppleCare so I’m super careful 😂

Facts. Mothers polishing compound & a rag can take away deep scratches on a stainless steel model. I’ve done it before.

How does Apple Care + work on these natural wear and tear, like the side scuffs and scratches? Does it fix it? I was really thinking of going caseless for the new iPhone 15 pro, but this is a thing that I have in mind... Not only for the looks, but also when it is time to sell the phone and buy a new one, could I just go to a store, get it all fixed and replaced and sell the phone as "new" for a more appealing price?

I agree but I have reasons I cannot be without a phone while it is being repaired. No communications for how many days? If I dropped and broke my phone I would just have to go and buy a new one the same day.

I'm the kind of person that doesn't want to use a case but knows I need to, because I'm not always gentle when setting my phone down, and I just don't want to worry about being super careful all the time. I've never gotten Apple Care because I just buy older secondhand phones.

Only the Silver colour band can be polished as it has no coating on it.The other colours cannot be polished as it would damage the colour coating.

Seriously iPhones with stainless steel needs screens protectors & cases! Besides protecting your screen, the side stainless steel easily gets sweaty oily slippery on it!

Treating your phone normally does not and i repeat does NOT cause the sides to scratch up the way yours has unless your normal is being inconsiderate with it, I’ve had my 13 pro max since June last year and use it normally and there are zero scratches on the sides or back, i have one or two on my screen protector but that is what i would call normal.

I’m getting the 14 pro in a few days I have a iPhone 12 promax right now I keep cases on it constantly and the stainless steel silver sides are still scratched up pretty bad I wish I knew how to prevent the scratches even though I have a case on it at all times, but still scratches

So I’ve been going caseless for a while now. For one, an employee at Apple informed me that most of the iPhone repairs are performed on phones that were broken while in a case. I’ve even seen reviews of the back glass on a 14 pro max shattering after a drop in an OtterBox Defender case. Second, I have found myself being more careful with my phone now that it’s caseless. I also have AppleCare so for me, a $29 glass replacement is more affordable than a $50+ case. The phone feels so much better without a case and I just can’t go back to wrapping up the surgical grade stainless steel in a bulky rubber case. Kinda like buying a Lexus and wrapping it in rubber or buying a Rolex and putting a bumper on it.
