CMIIW but Indonesian customs had been "approving" the new iPhones since day one by registering the IMEI of the devices to their system AND paying some taxes. But this only allowed for personal, hand-carry purchases only and not for resale (ik absurd right). So the ban only applied for Indonesian distributors who would officially import & sell them in the country.

And that's another reason why I don't plan on upgrading to a new phone right now. Not only that but my iPhone 11 is still working pretty good, and I can also use ChatGPT with Siri in Shortcuts without the need of Apple Intelligence
