Important Note : This 3 minute screen repair only works with Complete Touch Screen/Digitizer Assembly's (the complete repair kit that has the metal backing and camera housing attached to the digitizer screen, completed). This part costs a little bit more, doesn’t require you to remove two old connections and reattach them to the new digitizer (which typically doesn’t work because they weren’t intended for reattachment. Also, it removes the possibility of encountering unforeseen trouble with camera quality sometimes associated with the initial repair. Other than that, good video. I saw one guys video that was 44 min long. I am not sure why.

I bought just the glass on ebay ($5) but by watching your video, it seems it would be better to get a screen with the digitizer because it seems to be the way to go. However, all of the ones I see on ebay are ones without home button, ear piece, sensor silicone mesh and camera. Are these transferable from my old digitizer, and do you have a video on how to do it?

There is 2 parts to every screen. The Digitizer (which is the Glass part) And the LCD (Which is the display part; the color) The screen i have linked in the video description from Amazon is the Digitizer/LCD combo which is what you need to repair a cracked screen. The glass and LCD are glued together and are nearly impossible to separate successfully.

No, the 4 and 4s both open from the back. And then you have to dig through all the electrical components to get to the screen. It takes about an hour.

When you replace it, It will replace the glass AND LCD so it doesnt matter how broken it is. As long as it still turns on at the moment, it'll work when you finish. (As long as you dont break anything new while you are messing around in there)

Four months ago I paid a shop in Miami $125 to replace the front screen and digitizer assembly, which was cracked in several places. After returning home I googled and found this video. I immediately ordered a screen assembly on Ebay, knowing sooner or later I would need another repair. I needed one today so I pulled up this video and put out a few white sheets of paper, turned on a bright light and disassembled my phone. Yes, it took more than 3 minutes and the first time I assembled it apparently had a bad connection so I took it apart and tried again. Success! Works like a champ.Just be patient and watch the video at least twice and you will save money. O'yes, I ordered another scree from Ebay today, just in case.

Depends on where you get your screen from. If you get the one from amazon, youll have to transfer the camera from one screen to the other. Its pretty simple. Just 2 screws and the rest should come lose.

The digitizer (which is the glass part) and the LCD (Which is under the digitizer) are glued together, and separating them without breaking one or the other is near impossible. I plan on making a video of the process as soon as i get another broken iPhone 5 to repair. So subscribe to stay up dated for that.

True if the new screen includes the home button, front camera, and a few other components. If not, all of these will need to be transferred over to the new screen. Then it turns into a one hour job, but still easier than replacing the screen on the 4 or 4s.

Ive personally bought 2 of them and theve worked fine for me. I did have to switch over the home button, metal back plate, and ear piece, but its pretty straight forward. It will differ a little from what i showed in this video.

Hey man, I was hoping you would be able to lend a hand. One tip I'd recommend, is putting a piece of sellotape over the 3 screws holding down the plate covering the connectors. The screwdriver tends to be magnetized and the screws are extremely small, so getting the screwdriver into the cross-head to pick them up is pretty impossible for a novice, (which I am - 74 years of age repairing my Grandson's screen!) You can break through the sellotape with the screwdriver tip, but the sellotape then holds them in place, so you don't have to remove them from the plate and they're still in position when you replace it!

It is very very difficult to separate the glass from the LCD. You are much better replacing the screen as a unit. I get all my stuff from Amazon, you can check out the link in the video description.

Depends on where you buy your screens from. Just transfer it from your old screen. Just remove the 2 screws (or maybe it was just glued, I dont remember) then you can attach it to the new screen. You might need to move over the front camera as well.

Separating the glass and the LCD is very very difficult since they are glued together. You can sure try, but you'll probably break one or the other. Plus the replacement digitizers (glass pieces) aren't reliable as of now (check out the amazon reviews) I would play it safe and just get the full replacement screen, you'll save hours of work.

The replacement digitizer and screen I purchased (different seller than the link you provided and cost was $90) didn't come with that, the bottom button, and the steel backing behind the screen, as well. Thank you for the video! Followed it to a T and was successful! This, like most apple repairs are very, very doable as long as your brave and you take your time! Do not rush and do not force things. Overall this screen replacement cost me $49.99 (39.99 for screen on eBay and $10 for icracked repair kit on amazon). Beats apple's price of $275! It took me roughly 15 minutes. Thank you again!

JerryRigEverything Is this video repair of an iphone 5c? Because I have a 5c and it has 4 screws to get the plate off, and of the 3 connectors, 2 are vertical and one is horizontal. The new screen I got on ebay has 2 horizontal and one vertical. And you can't take one of the horizontal ones and turn it, because it will damage the ribbon. Can you tell me anything about this?

Great video! Thanks for sharing and providing the links, they were very helpful. I disagree with Edward's comments. You can replace a cracked screen, you just need to tap the screen with some heavy duty clear tape (worked for me). My only feedback about the video is that it does take longer than 3 minutes, unless you've done this several times, plus the video doesn't display how you need to remove the frame/bracket and camera from the old screen and put on the new screen, which will take an additional 10 minutes, maybe longer when trying to align the parts.

I know that the sprint and Verizon screens are interchangeable. I have not verified personally the ATT ones, but i would imagine they would be the same you could always message the seller on Amazon to check.

Hi Jerry very nice video , i just have one problem ,my phone is shutting down unexpectedly(and more often when it's connected to the charger or with pc) , iphone screen is up at the top and i can push it down but i don't know why and when i push i a lot harder the phone shuts down, i just replaced a week ago the battery but i still have the same problem , do you know why it is shutting down , also after replacing the battery now battery percentage is stuck even when i charge it or use, it'll only show the actual % after restarting the phone.

The 3rd cable might be the front facing camera. All you have to do is move it from the old screen to the new one and you are set. There are only a few screws.

There is a tool kit you can buy for like 15 bucks listed in the video description. Im not sure the exact size of the drivers. One is just the standard pentalobe screw driver used by all iPhones, and the other is just an itty bitty Philips head.

It depends. You CAN buy just the glass, but it is VERY VERY difficult to separate the glass from the LCD because they are glued together. There is another youtube video that shows how to do it, but It will be much easier and safer for your phone to just buy the LCD / digitizer combination.

I notice the screen is thick and includes probably the pressure-tech touch system. What's your advice if it's simply a cracked glass issue? Any idea on price? Ya, as long as both screens are made for your model of phone (verizon, att, or sprint) It should work just fine.
