The iPhone 6s box is far better; they brought back the front graphic and traditional box design. Never liked the iPhone 6 box. Also, my vote for phone history video. Oh and by the way, the darkish corners of the screen is an issue on even real iPhone screens, not just replacement ones. My brand new 6s has it. And yep...the M8 is a pile of ass.

Tom check that the IMEI on the back of the phone matches the one in software, if you are lazy and don't want to go into settings, open the phone app and dial *#06#

I'd like to note (correct me if I'm wrong) that when in activation mode the brightness tends to be close to all the way down or all they way down, and thus makes the display look not very crisp like it would with the brightness all the way up. I , myself have noticed this on many iPhones.

The iPhone 6 box has no photo, it's an embossed letter press in the shape of it. That doesn't look right though, it's not quite as glossy from the looks of things.

7:57 Personally almost every iPhone 6 I've seen have had wonky backlights like that. Not really a problem at all. With a phone being that thin and the screen / glass / light being one piece I can let that small issue slide.

With the box and accessories, they often are legit. I get them in at work wholesale (complete box without handset), most brands not just apple, most of the time they are bought back from corporate users. Say a company upgrades 500 employees to iphone 6s (from 5s), they sell off all the accessories as the employees already have them. Sometimes the opposite happens, where you can buy back new handsets for peanuts as the corporate people only want new plans rather not replace existing handsets. Sometimes the cables come from Foxconn directly, although foxconn's packaging is different to apples retail ones. I'd be a little skeptical of the charger though, if it is a knock off, they often are not safe and mains can jump into the USB port (this is not an exaggeration), often they just create lots of electrical noise and cause you phone to do odd things..

Some refurb handsets are good some are horrid, what I mean by this is some sellers don't really know what they are doing in regards to handset repair, often times screws are missing and stuff like that. I've seen some pretty bad ones before, one time I had an iphone 3gs come in that was held together inside with sticky tape and a few screws...

I have a htc one m8 but being an android user and expecting a bit more, I ended up going for a 16gb OnePlus One, and I have to say I'm loving it so far, the quality is so so good, even the box has outstanding attention to detail will have to decide whether to keep the m8 but I'm too attached to let it to, especially when it took so much to get it in the first place😂

The camera on the iP6 is excellent-I use it for all of my videos. If you can keep the footage organized then it would be great for vlogging (footage gets lost among other pictures really fast)

On the 6 the back-light diffuser panel is very thin, I've seen brand new iphones with darkened edges (the iPad Air 2 is the same), the backlight only runs along the TOP of the screen. With replacement screens, the LCD and digitizer are genuine but the Ear mesh, Front Glass pane and retention frame are new. Run your finger along the edge of the phone, IF you feel an edge on the screen (like it's raised a little) IF there is, your phone has a B grade display fitted and often they un-stick from the retention frame which hold the display assembly to the handset's rear chassis. Using you forefinger and thumb, squeeze the corners of the phone (thumb on glass, forefinger on the back), there should not be much if any movement, if there is then again you have a B grade display assembly. Do the screws match the color of the phone?

It's actually depends. There are lots of different qualities when it comes to replacement iPhone screens. You have the cheap copy glass and copy LCD, copy glass and original LCD and original glass and original LCD. Like you say, the backlight is very thin and the backlight is located at the top of the display, so dark spots towards to bottom of the display can be expected. I'm almost 100% sure this phone is 100% genuine apple refurbished.

***** I've never come across a copied LCD on anything newer than the 5, I sell back damaged genuine displays which then get the glass, mesh and frame replaced. The only copied LCD's I've ever seen where on the 3's an the iphone 4 when it was new. It's just not worth it..

+Slot1Gamer I couldn't agree more. I once had a customer wanting me to fit a new screen they had purchased off ebay on their iPhone 5C. It was a very poor quality screen, the frame was already starting to peel off, the LCD has multiple dark glowing green pixels - just horrible. I always say if you're repair a device worth £100+, don't try and skimp on parts.

Yeah, the no picture on the box thing did throw me at first when I got my 6 (Plus 128GB in Space Grey)... I suspect it's apple being cheapskates.. saves on printing an image on a box, and instead just using a different texture.

Great video Tom. Good choice on the phone, you really can't go wrong. I suspect that screen isn't a legit part; the other thing to watch out for with those eBay sellers is the batteries they use are sometimes a bit crap; you can use an app to check your battery health.

Congrats on your purchase, but somehow, I feel unsure that this was a good deal. I don't really like the 6, especially its horribly inefficient design (protruding camera, plastic stripes, way too thin). Plus there is the 6S which is a billion times better and is more future-proof. So, I assume you'll enjoy it yourself if you bought it, but for me, I don't think so.

+Garirry 'a billion times better' lol what? it has a slightly bumped CPU, slightly better camera, better storage controller and force touch. It's really not worth the extra cost (especially if you have to think ahead about your expenses because you have a child like tom) and 'future proof' - you realise that apple supports their devices for about 4-5 years,and even once it no longer receives software updates you can use it for about another year after that; its a bit touch and go, but it's doable. also, 'horribly inefficient design'. Those reasons you stated are not reasons, they are opinions, and ones on purely aesthetic design choices at that.

The 6S doesn't have that many new features, I agree, but tiny things like the RAM bump are deal maker to be fair, plus 100$ more isn't much for that. I guess that's how my mentality works, I don't like buying older products (unless they're just really cheap and old).

Much less app/tab reloading, and the difference will only become more noticeable with time. Apple always puts the best hardware in the s generations. They stay relevant longer. Just look at the 4s compared to the 4. The 6s is no exception.
