That is so true, I used to work at Verizon and still have tons of friends who still do and what we would see back 13 years ago and now is that the vast majority of people want a phone that is a reasonable price, works, a brand they know and trust, not the latest and greatest innovation/specs and so on. Honestly Apple releasing it now during this lockdown and hard economic time is beneficial for them because the price point is insane at full price or payments.

well the thing is, this probably the next iphone I like from iphone 6, I've always kind of never liked iphones, but they held my respect until iphone 6 (I'm in India and since iphone 7 prices were just joke inflated). This phone is what most Indian market and let's say a smart market looks for. It's not about mid range but how much do you need, if it works well, can do top quality app performance or gaming performance, has a good camera. It's a good phone It's not Android, but Redmi, OnePlus that held that title for a while. And now iPhone swoops in and does well, actually Samsung has been doing really bad in this department. From how they actually got famous, by not caring about model but software and pricing, to now Samsung has kind of turned into Apple. I've always and still will hate the concept of ios tho. Need everything apple, that's just dumb.

Exactly. It's not "aPpLe sHeEp dOn"t cArE aBoUt sPeCs" but rather, they just have different priorities and preferences than you. That said, the screen on this SE is really outdated. Most people don't care about resolution or refresh rate or OLED, but the bezels are still super thick. I feel like the only people who will buy it are people with really small hands, or parents buying it for their youngest children.

Thank you for your input, Marques! I’m debating to purchase this for my parents or the iPhone 11. The price point is definitely a deal. The only drawback is that home button. If it had face detection it would be perfect for them since their finger prints are difficult to be clearly accessed at times. I was hoping you had one in hand with tests! Jaigarful, I do care about it. I always see people looking over my parents phone and I have to constantly remind them to cover their phones. They have the finger print detection but they do so much outside work at times their fingertips are cut up and end up putting bandaids on then putting their pins cause their fingerprints are undetectable. I’m going to buy them the se. Most important thing to them is that they have an updated phone and can FaceTime their grandchildren. I’ll just buy them a screen privacy protector. ☺️

Wesley Yu, True, I had mine for over 3 years now and it only crashed on me like three times, I do not have an urgent need to swap my phone, but I just fancy the next one for the sake of A13 Bionic chip. I find that my old SE heats up ridiculously when I am running a bit more graphically demanding games (when travelling, I like using it with my Xbox controller) or even some simpler tasks when “multitasking” between apps.

This is the phone I’ve been using since it came out and by god it’s great. I was android user before hand and hated it, but this phone made the transition so easy and perfect. I’m a fan of a home button, and this phone is new enough to be worth the money, but has everything I want in the body of the phone I wanted

I like the bezels as they give me something to hold onto without activating the touchscreen. I’m also a big fan of the fingerprint reader so I can use my phone flat on the table, and not have to lean over it to unlock it.

I still use my iphone SE and just ordered a new one. I never bought into the new phone hype. I use my phone for basic functions: Texting, Calling, Navigation, email, podcasts, work photos, and web browsing. I worked on the road for over 2 years and the original iphone SE worked just fine. Only problems was that I'd mistype a lot because the keyboard is so tiny when the screen is vertical, its battery is dying (I know replaceable), and its getting slow. A big part of marketing is selling the need for a product before selling the product itself. I don't think many people take full benefit of their $1000+ phones but instead fall to a marketing ploy. "I need this phone because it has a really good camera for taking pictures!" Then they take pictures that never exploit the capabilities of that camera. Its fine to splurge sometimes. I did with my car and I'll likely not do that again. I don't intend to splurge in the future on phones either.

I actually got it through Walmart for $199. They had some prereqs - you had to be either an AT&T OR Verizon customer and you had to be eligible for an upgrade and sign up for a 30 month plan. I called AT&T and asked if I could pay off the plan in full - yes- so I paid in full. 64 GB black for $199 + $5 shipped to my door by 5/5. I'm excited

The “not everyone cares about the spec sheet of a phone” is a really important discussion. Not many people play intensive games on their phone and most people use it as a camera/media consumption device. Before I got my first iPhone I used a rooted 3rd party android with a custom os and to be honest it just introduced more problems. The iPhone has a good camera, a really nice os, and can use Twitter and KZbin. Over the past few months I’ve realized that’s all I really want from a phone and I think it’s why they have such a big share of the market. As much as I’m interested in new tech, learning about it is enough for me since I never have much use for the new features as they’re often imperfect at the start.

I’ve had the se original since it came out and have been waiting for about 2years for an updated one but in December my se crapped out and had to get a new phone. I wish it lasted just a touch longer. I personally care pretty much exclusively about the internals of a phone since they will tell you long the phone will last.

I have the Pixel 3A and it was my daily driver for months, but then I went back to iPhone and got the Xs. I still kinda miss that camera. It’s really hard for me to say which is better in the stock camera app (on social media it’s clearly iPhone that wins).
