Well I was an idiot. I bought an iCloud locked X to repair mine as at the time it was cheaper. I didn’t swap around the top speakers so I didn’t get FaceID. I thankfully kept the original speaker so I swapped them around and it worked. Thank you!

So I have an iPhone X, everything internal is original, screen however is refurbished. Did the repair myself, Nothing was damaged int he process. Face ID did not work before hand I must add. This issue started after the phone was dropped in a case. proximity sensor works as should, everything operates the way it should except Face ID. However when opening the phone and checking the front face cameras and depth sensor have no mount, this is odd to me. They can easily be moved side to side or up (till the frame stops them) or down. Are these components placed in a particular position and when dropped moved and forever unaligned? It wouldn't be enough to show in the camera, however if the depth sensor can be thrown off by a small smug or dust this off set position would be enough to cause issues, right? That's the only logical thing I can think of which is a dumb design on apples part not having those components screwed into the frame to keep this from happening. Anyways wanted to give my thoughts sense this is a common issue with Face ID. Good video by the way.

If your earpiece flex is damaged, you can simply change and swap the proximity and light sensor to the new earpiece. It will bring back your face id. I did mine on xr and it works great. You need a smd station or heat station to solder it back.

That's very informative. I have that problem with Face ID. It stopped working but based on these videos I have tested the sensors and they work fine but still I receive the message of Face ID being not available. Front camera works normally. It can detect light changes and detect my gestures ( tested this using memojis) I already restored the phone and updated it. Can a replacement screen cause a problem like this? Because the only other problem I have noticed is the "ghost scrolling" Can

it sucks; I spent 1200$+ buying it and after a couple of months a drop of water damaged the face id sensor. I called them, they said after 2 or 3 months ur warranty is over. And for the past 8 months, I have been entering my pass-code to use my phone which is the 2007 way to use ur phone. idk what to do with them.

Thank you for this video it is very useful but my problem still exists .I checked the brightness sensor the way you did it when you lowered the brightness and then exposed it to a light ...etc so mine worked normally , but the face ID is still not working , I reset the phone and still same same . There is a encrytion chip in the front camera module (front camera, IR camera and dot projector), so one iPhone only recognize one dot projector. This means if you change the front camera module or if the dot projector got some dust, the Face ID is not available anymore.

@@Antonio-km3po I haven’t got it fixed yet. It sounds like it is hardware related. None of the software fixes worked. I need to find one of those technicians that examines the boards and connections with a microscope. The back camera probably isn’t getting power.

@@jimkryzak811 I have an refurbished iPhone XS Max which I bought 7 months ago. I just contacted apple service. They ran diagnostics and said its hardware related. Apparently hardware had a problem before, but just after updateing to newest iOS system(which happend overnight), system recognized the problem and block usage of problematic parts(camera, flaslight and faceID). Their advice is to either take the phone to local apple store for fix(which may take a while because of whole corona pandemic) or request money refund from the store I bought this refurbished iPhone.

@@And33146 [SOLUTION] Hey man, my problem happend nearly a month ago. For two weeks my phone was at the Apple service and they couldnt fix it. I took it to two services and in one of those the guy connected a spare back camera which didn’t work so he unplugged it and returned everything as it first was. After assembling the phone and letting me know they couldnt fix it I turned the phone on and back camera was working, front wasnt. I immediately took it to the service where guys fix motherboards and stuff and they called me 2 hours later to let me know they fixed it. It wasnt a hardware issue.Just some kind of software bug which doesn’t go away with just hard reseting your phone at home. They charged me 40$ and I couldnt be happier!

Looks like it's still dirty or worn out if you haven't tried cleaning it with what the cleaning tools said in the video I would recommend getting a replacement

Couple of days after it's working normal I think, but only faceID is not working.. And also my sim tray is silver, but two other indicators inside are red.. @@Navien_h yeah, funny little thing that happened to me. i asked them if the phone would be water resistant. because its a refurbished. and i put it in a inch of water. and it was done. water all over it. i called them again, and they sent a brand new sealed one in exactly what i had (X 256GB Space Gray) so yeah.. good luck.
