Russell Pace I agree let me say this Russell. My wife says she has no preference she will use iOS or Android but she has been rockin Android for about 3 years now. She bought the S9 plus earlier this year then when we switched back to ATT she got a Note 9. I have to say the display in the S9 plus and the Note 9 is to die for. I use her S9 plus as a media center and live tv and retro gaming now. My daily driver as of Tuesday when it arrived is the MAX. I absolutely love this phone I been watching KZbin videos constantly on it..fluid fast, big. The height of the phone is no shocker to me it’s exactly the size height as my old 6 plus and 7 plus..just more screen to body ratio. I said I will never switch from Apple I love how my air pods series 4 (gold to match my MAX) iPads MacBook Pro..just that whole ecosystem the way they shake hands is just so beautiful but...that’s a big but 😂...I will consider the Note 10 next year!! I hear something amazing is coming to that phone that even the S10 or no other smartphone will have. If I get it I will keep my MAX... the only thing I really love about Android is the customization!! I can throw terrarium tv eternal tv on it play games.. download them instantly...and the Dolby Atmos sounds amazing!! They don’t compare to my LG SK10Y setup but for a smartphone Samsung is just about to take over as the best.

ChristianNotAvalible you are correct but the tech they laid on top of that display is all Apple. The new iPhones displays are by LG until Apple get their display division off the ground. Apple helped Samsung with those displays. I follow stocks... Once Apple paid Samsung.. Samsung made more money last year than they ever did before that’s facts!! No one talks about this but I will say this one of the reasons why Apple stopped making iPhone X was to cut ties from Samsung. Side note....the best tv right now in the USA is the C7 by LG. LG is finally getting it right-the OLED technology.

Software in iOS sucks. - settings for camera is on a separate app. - no file manager - no multitasking - no battery percentage (so annoying) - notifications sucks (because notification lane was hidden by the notch. - can't download torrent.

Hey I’m curious why haven’t you’ve talked about . Glamour mode that can’t be shut off when taking selfies / also the huge charging problem problem going on since iOS 12 . I'll give you a reason why I think Apple didn't include fast charging out of the box, because it's not necessary. When you take your iPhone of the charger in the morning, your iPhone is going to last you all day anyway, especially with the Xs Max! When you get home in the evening, then just charge it overnight! I have a Note9 but still, that's the way I see, the plus size iPhones tend to have great battery life.

You say that until your battery lifespan starts to deteriorate after a year or two and moderate to heavy usage no longer lasts all day, then you're going to really wish you had a fast charger like every android phone on the planet has had for an eternity now. My phone can go from 15% to 50%-60% in 30 minutes. Bam, just got another 3-6 hours of screen on time.

That or you have to buy wireless earbuds which are not ready for everyday use. The battery life should average longer life in the buds market before the jack is removed. I like wireless and I tend to have everything I can without wires, but I still find myself needing to because everything is on battery. Air pods only last 5 hours, get lost easily (more $$ for apple), and almost certainly lead to people buying the jack adapter anyway because they don't want to deal with no battery. Plus, they're not acceptable quality to match their $160 retail price.

malik bilawal I get the same speeds on the 5ghz wifi channel on my Xs Max that I did on my 7 Plus. The LTE is more concerning. From what I've read, the modem on the Xs/Max has a tougher time connecting in spotty/low reception areas. Add in the poor antenna design, and you have big time connection issues.

Have you had any charging issues when using the plugin charger? Apparently if the screen is asleep when you plug it it, the Max versions do not charge. There are varying versions of the issue, but please check into it, because there is a lot of complaints out there!

I loved your objective and honest review of the iPhone XS and XS Max. Not too over the top and you make plenty of true, valid points. More people need to see this before making a purchasing/upgrade decision. Kudos!

The prices have just gotten absolutely ridiculous, I've been an iphone user for best part of a decade and I'm really struggling now, I've had 3GS, 4S, 5S, 6, hated the size of the 6 so got an SE and been using that for nearly 2 years. But I've never paid more than around £400/500 for a phone. Doubling my budget just isn't an option to stay in the Apple ecosystem. My ipad mini is near on useless, still running ios9 because when i tried to install 10 it killed it so went back to 9. All I'd really miss is iMessage and quite frankly I'd rather get an Honor 10/Oneplus 6T for around £400/500 and go back to using WhatsApp. I've even seriously considered the Pocophone F1! If I can get a 3,500+ mA battery, decent camera, the latest Kirin or Snapdragon and atleast 4GB of RAM in an android phone for under 1/2 the price of the XS, then the Apple ecosystem can get stuffed...... Just need to figure out how to actually leave and transfer all my crap to Google *sigh*

Sophie Murphy that's why I always buy my iDevices used. Got my iPhone 7 for around €500 last year and currently I'm thinkin about an X at €700.

Sean Q thanks Sean, I couldn’t agree with you more, wireless charging & glass backs aren’t important to me either, I’d rather have something plastic or metal that’ll be a bit harder to accidentally destroy. I’ll be honest i’m only really swaying toward the Honor 10 over the F1 because of the size, I’ve got big hands but every time I’ve tried a 6 inch phone I drop the bloody thing and the honor is the smallest of the bunch. But then it had a glass back so will I instantly break it? Lol

Sean Q well, 700€ is exactly half its introductory price one year ago, so that's not bad value. And it's still faster than any Android phone (benchmark wise). Hell, my iPhone 7 has higher Geekbench scores than most 2018 Android phones. Don't get me wrong, I've been tempted to switch many times since the recent price hikes started.
