I find it funny that people call the lgbt community a hive mind when Dave fans do the exact same thing but worse. This didn't bring any community together and it wasn't suppose to. The special wasn't even that funny and it completely ignores trans black people. Maybe instead of them listening to a loud minority of people, take quotes from what many of the LGBT community is talking about. Honestly Daphne felt like "I have a black friend so I can't be racist"

@@edwin1845 stick and stones was much better. This special was mostly a millionaire comedian doing a netflix special complaining about cancel culture, using Daphne as (my black friend) and basically saying I know very little about this community but I'm gonna criticize it anyway. The sad part is that if he took a little time to know about the community and their issues then it could have been a truly amazing special that brought many groups together. There would have still been some complaints but you can't please everyone.

Emboldening Words leads to harm. Example? Shouting fire in a cinema. Jan 6 insurrection. Covid denial. Antivaxx rhetoric. Anti-LGBT Hateful rhetoric. A white person calling a black man Negro boy And his black friends was silent on the issue. Tell me Aba and Preach. Words is not violence. Silence is not violence. Someone's existence becoming only an opinion and spreading that opinion makes those existence not matter. Do your research. Talk to people and find their perspectives. Accepting ignorance as the default in the age where information is readily available in the palm of your hand... Is actual ARROGANCE.

In the West, that applies to Corporate interests. The bootleg-women community is a diamond mine for Capitalism (KZbin censors the T word for me even in its respectable form lmao). Market estimates put the cost of surgery alone per-person at $150k and upwards, and that doesn't include into the equation: lifetimes meds, lifetime hormone pills, corrective procedures, repeat surgery, painkillers for dil., antidepressants, and then you also have the fashion, makeup, and wig industries. That's an industry to exploit by pharma/clinics/fashion/makeup/wig sectors, which is well in excess of $200 Billion annually if we go by the number that there's 1.4 million people in this community and even more. That's more than the movie industry. Corporations are going all in to not only market and support such a diamond mine, but also find ways to force people who don't necessarily have a gender problem, but have other mental problems that make them malleable into being easily convinced and pushed into the community to exploit and commodify even more people. The final touch here is Capitalists getting Socialists who support the bootleg-women community to force the state government to take money from taxpayers and put it into welfare funds so even those who can't afford surgeries and meds can easily get them, and that means Corporations like Pharma now getting 100% assured monetary flow from taxpayers via State, enabled and fueled by Socialists themselves ironically, making for a harmonic cooperation between Socialism and Capitalism which is just pure brilliance.

Exactly. Equality is making fun of everyone without having to censor oneself. If Black people, Jews, women, Muslims and disabled people can all be made fun of, but trans people can’t, that’s not equality. You can’t demand equality, then when you get it (and all that comes with it), you demand to be handled with kid gloves again. It makes no sense.

Listen, I’m gay and these lgbtq people are crazy af and too sensitive to everything. I watched Dave Chapelle’s special and I laughed through it all because it was true. I live in L.A so I see and hear the Final Gay bosses allll day. In my experience, the most racism and discrimination I’ve received was from the gay community. If I don’t fit their standards, I’m an other. If I don’t agree, I’m an other. How I see it, being gay is such a small part of who I am. What we’re seeing now is too many people taking their lgbtq identity too serious, so any mention of the “community” is considered VIOLENCE. I’ve literally been told I’m gay so I have to agree like stfuuuuuuuu. That’s my TedTalk rant for today.

This is so refreshing to hear. I don't understand why these LGBTQ people put so much of who they are on who they are attracted to. Being gay has nothing to do with how you treat others, how hard you work, how much you give back, etc. I feel the same when I hear these crazy feminists. Being a woman has no impact on who I am as a human being. I work hard, have a good heart, give back as much as I can, and try to live by, "love thy neighbor as thy self." ❤

Hey I'm a trans man and I actually got pretty emotional by Dave Chappelle's special, not because of the jokes ofc but because of his tribute to his trans friend daphne. That part of the special really hit me because even though I knew the mob could be like this, it broke my heart to know they may have harrassed a person from their own community to take her own life. People don't usually realize this but comedy is one of the greatest ways to spread awareness and I think that is more what dave did in this special. People also don't realize that not all trans people are the same just like Dave said "not all trans people support cancel culture". People need to start accepting that trans people are not monoliths and that includes the community itself too. And I think dave knows that and supports that idea :)

No matter who you are. Hearing Dave talk about his very close friend Daphne, was heartbreaking. "She wasn't one of your people, she was one of mine." He loved that human dearly. To see other Trans people using that personal thing as an attack? Yall wonder why so many people can't accept the Trans movement. Maybe it's because the Trans movements can't fucking accept themselves.

It’s sad because more so than any other special, in the “closer” Dave clearly tried to emphasize that he’s words weren’t meant to be violent and that comedy is meant to be a way to talk about hard things and difficult topics but still laugh at ourselves and each other. When he told that story about his friend that committed suicide and still managed to get people laughing it showed that comedy isn’t meant to be taken seriously but is a way to turn something negative into something positive without degrading the importance of the issue. Words legit only have the power we give them and it’s sad that people allow themselves to be affected by them like this.

I remember as a Cuban when everyone was out here posting about the tragedies occurring in Cuba and how it needs to be stopped. Virtue signaling in a nutshell. It was popularized with Kony in 2012, marking the beginning of the end. I think it is a result of the global communication pipeline opening up a lot more information about the "outside world" to those trapped in their country's geopolitical bubble around 2005, as well as social media encouraging politicization. Twitter warriors are just playing politicians, they fight and cannibalize each other to earn the coveted title of being the representative of a certain group online, and with comms opening up there are a lot more groups available to vie for control, and they're larger, too. It still wasn't enough however, so they began creating groups that they can say they are representative of. I chalk it up to the pangs of a burgeoning global communications culture. I think in a couple years this will all be a thing of the past, but there's also the chance that because humans in general have a hard time dealing with large numbers, people will always "groupify" those they are not familiar with and we will never see an end to these kinds of talks

There was nothing he said in the whole special that was offensive to anyone if they actually listened. Just because it has a punch line doesn't make it offensive. A few things to consider: 1. Criticism is not hate. 2. I would be amazed if the people saying he hates trans actually watched the specials. No one has yet pointed out the things in the specials where he was supportive of the trans community. They only say he attacks them without being specific. 3. The only time I've seen specific references made were in articles which only seem to mention the TERF comment, but not the parts where he was supportive. And yes, if you watch and listen, there are many. 4. To demand a trans person be put on the board because you don't like the special is the height of hubris, and shows how unrealistic your expectations are. We need less outrage and hate in this country. Trans people are people too and deserve the same respect everyone else gets. That means they also need to accept jokes about them are fair game, just like with everyone else.

He surrounded every joke with his view that trans people be understood as human beings, while pointing out points of criticism. Once I realized I was mentally and emotionally incapable of properly absorbing information(I suspect BPD, but I'm still talking to somebody about it), I took a step back from paying attention to local and global issues. Exactly like that Trans Nikita Dragun she made a song called “dick” and in her lyrics she basically says biological women get their style from trans and copy trans girls. She got backlash and decided to say that she’s never met a biological woman that was more beautiful than her fellow trans. This type of thing is the problem, also many trans say that straight guys that find out they are trans and don’t date them still are transphobic. Which is not true if I saw a hot guy amd he turned out to be trans I would not be attracted anymore, it’s not a phobia I would just prefer a biological male. Why do these trans women want to replace real women

Did you see the vid with VITO GESUALDI (a comedy ytube content creator) who went to the protest outside of Netflix ? He carried a sign that said "WE LIKE JOKES" and one of the writers violently tore down his sign, then ILLEGALLY tried to weaponise the mob or the police to attack Vito, for "carrying a weapon" !

Too many people that are outraged forget to mention the part at the end where one of his once good friends and trans comedians he tried to put on, daphne dorman, committed suicide due to the amount of pressure and flak she got from the LGBT community by defending and not declaring him as transphobic. Or when he financially supported the family after the accident. Hell of a transphobe.

HE MADE THAT PART UP TO BE DRAMATIC AND GET SYMPATHY. DAPHNE HAD A LOT OF PERSONAL ISSUES AND SHE WASN'T FAMOUS ENOUGH FOR TWITTER TO BE THE REASON SHE DIED. DAVE PURPOSELY SAID IT LIKE THAT SO THAT PEOPLE WOULD JUMP TO THAT CONCLUSION BUT IN THE SPECIAL HE CLEARLY SAID HE DIDN'T KNOW ANY OF THE DETAILS. THE TRANS COMMUNITY CALLED HIM OUT FOR WAITING ALMOST A FULL YEAR TO DO ANYTHING FOR DAPHNE OR THE FAMILY. THEY OBVIOUSLY DIDN'T KNOW EACH OTHER THAT WELL.

There has always been a lot of hypocrisy in the Trans community. I remember telling a trans woman that I did not want to be called a cis woman and she insisted in calling me that because she said that's what I was. If I would have called her a man all hell would've broke loose. You have to give people the same respect that you are demanding. Dave made jokes about EVERYONE, but for some reason the the trans community are exempt?! It's crazy!

You're also transphobic or a fetishist if you only date other cis people. 'They' create all these categories for everyone and then criticise people for being the category that 'they' created. 'They' say you can choose your pronouns or choose to not share your pronouns but criticise you for not sharing. I never said that I am a cis-gendered heteronormative female, they did. So if 'they' say that is what I am, then why is my attraction to cis-gendered heteronormative men a transphobic fetish? Makes zero sense.

Amd they have exploited the black community to make it seem like they have faced the same type of oppression as black people, but it's not even close to being the same. I've heard them say that not wanting to date Trans people is like saying you don't date dark skinned women, which is such a false and insane statement. They need to stop.

I've seen some comments about Dave using the trans comedian as a "My black friend" and the fact is, the problem with "my black friend" is that the black friend isn't looked at like a HUMAN BEING. Chappelle has a line where Daphne says that she is having a human moment. No Netflix employees had a problem with the child exploiting "Cuties" movie. Nobody had a problem with Chappelle when he made fun of white and black people. Funny part is that all this controversy is making Chappelle's point.

@@dharma_mane The reality of life is every single group of people has those that are suffering in some way. A poor white kid in West Virginia is likely just as disadvantaged or more than a black kid growing up in an rough urban neighborhood. Also objectively speaking some groups suffer more than others. Each group has structural, social, and economic advantages and disadvantages. Comedy is pointing out and even highlighting many of those facts in a way that brings people together to an understanding. The trans community is going to alienate all potential allies in the future, like many right wing extremists have using violence and intimidation to silence any and all criticisms and trying to promote a way of life that many people would naturally have reservations about.
