Edit: Just found panel gap similar to iQOO 13 with my Galaxy Tab S9 tablet which has full metal build and is IP68 certified. I'm positive this gap is mostly present in metal body phones to allow the metal to expand or contract based on temperature. From what I have picked from OnePlus/Samsung and iPhone sub-reddits is that this is a normal thing to have. Some iPhone owners were able to return their units only to find panel gap in different parts of the front on the new units they received. Some Apple users claim that the gap exists to give the metal frame room to expand and contract based on the temperature. I have a telegram channel, where after this discussion a guy found gap in his Oppo Reno 2 which he never spotted before. Meanwhile Samsung has officially claimed it to be a normal thing to have: www.samsung.com/sg/support/mobile-devices/there-is-a-gap-between-the-screen-and-frame-of-my-device/ Regardless I am least concerned about this. Here are the posts that I have referred on the video, but there are plenty of other posts: xdaforums.com/t/panel-gap-between-screen-and-frame-on-a-brand-new-s21-ultra.4333495/ imgur.com/a/8DOwO41 www.reddit.com/r/GalaxyS22/comments/tml6lv/gap_between_display_and_frame/ www.reddit.com/r/GalaxyS23/comments/14bu3cf/gap_between_s23_ultra_display_and_frame/ www.reddit.com/r/GalaxyS24Ultra/comments/1afjds1/s24_ultra_screen_gap/ www.reddit.com/r/iphone/comments/1g5sr1x/brand_new_iphone_16_pro_is_a_gap_between_the/ www.reddit.com/r/iphone/comments/170o3nw/iphone_15_plus_gap_between_display_and_frame/ www.reddit.com/r/iphone/comments/1g5l0h5/new_iphone_16_pro_max_thin_gap_on_right_side/ www.reddit.com/r/iphone15/comments/1esp9lf/i_can_see_a_gap_between_the_display_and_the_frame/ www.reddit.com/r/iphone/comments/1914w0l/brand_new_iphone_15_pro_max_display_gap/ www.iphonetricks.org/iphone-13-gap-between-screen-and-frame/ discussions.apple.com/thread/252073288?sortBy=rank www.reddit.com/r/GooglePixel/comments/1f8myk5/pixel_9_pro_display_gaps/ Water Resistance test: kzbin.info/www/bejne/h6apf2V9j9OtoM0 kzbin.info/www/bejne/b4G0dICllLZgY9U

I don't think so. The gap may appear later as well, there is some tolerance. From what I read from iPhone forums, is that it's to allow the metal frame to contract and expand based on temperature. I checked even my Tab S9 has same panel gap in the corners.

I am a user who changes phones in around few months. I even have multiple phones. From OnePlus to Samsung & iPhones. I will just say one thing. Go and check phones from your friends. You will not find such gaps. The gaps have a fiber part that is for shock absorption. I won't recommend buying iqoo 13 now. Just wait a few days. iQOO should clarify this why it's like that in all units... I have not seen panel gaps like this... This Phone costs 60k it's maybe for repairability purposes when they have to change phone screen they snr take off whole frame but it could be due to metal frame maybe for antenna or display protection when phone falls the metal frame can bend and screen can crack by that that could be reason if there was no panel gaps if screen was attached to metal frame If there is slightly gap even if metal bends it won't damage screen could be that reason.... I checked my Poco F5 it has no panel gap absolutely zero gap The frame and display are perfectly matched I checked other 3 phones as well Poco M6 pro Realme Narzo 10 and 30A They don't have any panel gap at all Maybe because they are using plastic side frames... Whatever it could be....

Whether you agree or not, it feels like an issue to me. I've been in the iQOO 13 Telegram group, and many users are facing this problem, while others aren't. If it were normal, everyone would be experiencing the same thing, but that's not the case.

The first thing to figure out is if this is a 'problem' or not. I guess Samsung clearly mentions it to protect themselves? www.samsung.com/uk/support/mobile-devices/there-is-a-gap-between-the-screen-and-frame-of-my-device/ You are not in the telegram group, but I found panel gap on my Tab S9, today evening. Old phone model who use sandwich design (glass + plastic + metal frame) doesnt have this gap, its because plastic used to absorb damage impact when the phone got hit or fall, but modern phone who doesnt use plastic in the middle of screen glass and metal frame will have gap in the middle to make a space if the phone fall or got hit, so the metal frame dent doesnt goes straight to the screen glass. This is common science, phone who use plastic frame doesnt need this gap because plastic frame has bigger impact absorption than metal frame. And other thing is, metal and glass has different expand/shrink tolerant point, so gap is needed to prevent metal frame from breaking the screen glass because of shrinking in the cold temperature. Hope this make a good explanation

If the gap is made intentionally then company should speak the reason on open forum.Why in some units there is absolutely no gap? My friend's i phone had this type of panel gap and the company quickly replaced it.That time I phone company don't even tell the logic as per you.
@techstation3655 күн бұрын
All I am saying is from my observation. I don't care what others think. iQOO can come forward and clarify like Samsung. Samsung clearly mentions that panel gap is expected: www.samsung.com/uk/support/mobile-devices/there-is-a-gap-between-the-screen-and-frame-of-my-device/ I just checked my Tab S9 with IP68, and it also has same panel gap on two corners.
@TechPill_5 күн бұрын
It's done for easier display replacement because if that panel gap dosen't than then changing screen is easier because lamination of display and frame isn't done. Because if that done one need to complete frame and the display this is the most logical reason I see for alteast chinnese companies doing in case of Samsung it might be to enhance the speaker quality maybe but completely seen as cost cutting measure

It's water resistant not water proof that's why the panel gap didn't matter for water water resistant,it was certified to work in water as normal water doesn't conduct electricity but in salt water it'll definitely damage the phone
@techstation3656 күн бұрын
Water damage is not covered anyways by anyone. I don't think anyone claims to be water proof and most likely salt(ionized) water is not even part of IP test. The most logic reason is what I found in Apple forums -> It's to keep some space for the metal frames to contract or expand based on temperature. I'm sure there is proper protection inside, even regular tap water can damage electronic items as I have experienced it.
