The book has the same title, and is a great read ✔ from the 40s ,joe sentenced to hang / then 30 yrs of troubles., the missions for supplys around the world, he misses the helicopter pick up. He was the 4th person. 3 got on board, joe had chest pains, went back to his cell, and the chopper landed in the yard, about 1978/79✔ (alot more to it ) Id recommend it to any readers ✔

@waynepower766 not to contradict you my friend, but I don't think anyone involved, forgot the suffering, that ordinary people went through. At least I hope not. .I p feel a sense of despair sometimes, when I see the way commenters on conflicts that have escalated in recent times , like the Israeli/ Hamas conflict, seem to view it as if it's a sport, ie. the suffering of a mother, on one side, upon being presented with the corspe of her child, is less or more, than that of the mother on the other side. God grant them all his mercey.

What is necessary and the best course of action at one point may change over decades. Armed struggle was necessary imo at one point. Critics will say the dont have a united Ireland. Well they certainly wouldn't have had a IRA man as deputy minister in the 70s. Sinn Fein wouldn't have had the reach it has now. You have a small catholic majority in Northern Ireland and i dont see the british holding on forever. Who's to say continued violence would have improved anything. Unless you're conversing with the almighty I doubt anyone has those answers.
