I have been running alot of the b car at Road America, my oval irating is double my road, and this week has been one of the best weeks for me, I am terrible on the road courses, but for some reason, I have been really good this week, and as an oval racer, I haven't been getting lapped, except when someone decides that they can take Canada Corner flat out and destroy my car. Also, good video man

This week at Road America was my FIRST EVER NASCAR ROAD COURSE RACE. Must say it was quite difficult trying to get the car to stay on the road. But torwards the end of the week I managed to pull of decent times and got into my zone. And the thing u menchined about Oval guys on a Road course caught me good, because the guy behind me I was tussling with the whole race had a very sloppy line and i got a lead comming off corners very well.XP

Start overdriving the car and sliding every corner and the tires get hot, pressures go up, and that leads to more sliding in this car, which makes things progressively worse with no real way to bring them back in line. The tires basically turn to balloons of steel, least that is what it feels like.

@TacticalCardboard10 жыл бұрын
Oval. Grid is set by Oval iRating, counts towards Oval SR, car numbers by oval iRating, gain Oval iRating. For a series like the Star Mazda for example (a road car that has an oval race or two as per the real world) it's the opposite, the oval is a "road" race. It is determined by which side the series is predominantly. Sadly though.... I don't think there is any way for them to have a combined series of the two easily (allowing both sides in) for the Indycars. They ran that combined oval / road mix a long while ago, but it was a road only series so oval guys got screwed. :|

Why was the tachometer constantly changing hue during the formation lap?
@TacticalCardboard10 жыл бұрын
Because that is your pit road speed indicator outside the box that pops out. It's set so that at a certain RPM in a certain gear you are right on the speed limit, usually 2nd gear. Yellow dots build until you fill them up as you gain RPM, when it's green you are right on the speed limit, when it's red you are over. NASCAR cars don't have speedometers nor pit speed limit buttons. It's actually pretty neat, they've had that in the real world for the last few years, some teams use them some don't.
@archofficial192210 жыл бұрын
Empty Box Oh, cool. I was gonna ask why they went through all that when they could just memorize what RPM the speed limit is at but then I remembered were talking about racecars here with gearing adjusted for every track, and of course oval drivers. ;)

i ahve a question, the steering wheel on my game stops at 90 degrees but i can turn my G25 more. I have it set to 900 degrees but it locks me into different degrees depending on the car, is that a bug or just a setting?
@TacticalCardboard10 жыл бұрын
Do you have driver arms enabled? The animation for the arm crossover isn't complete, so it stops at 90 degrees each way. Also, the game sets the proper steering rotation per car, for example on the MX5 it's like 400 degrees or something.
@osfponikhths10 жыл бұрын
Ok yes i do have the arms enabled, time to disable them, because i think i dont take corners properly because of that :/

Just got a G27 finally and I'm having issues with downshifting. My car wants to spin when i downshift even when im going straight. Any idea why? I let off the throttle, hit the clutch, and downshift 1-3 times depending on the corner.
@gazzrfc19 жыл бұрын
+Murderin7 I realise I'm probably too late at replying, but you have to make sure you are rev matching, even if you are in a car that blips the throttle for you, you might just want to try it anyway, and make sure to not downshift too much in rapid succession as that can cause spinning too

@TacticalCardboard10 жыл бұрын
Incident points. They determine your license level in iRacing, more is bad, though I've already reached teh end of the license progression so it doesnt really mean anything to me.
@SebastianWoodard10 жыл бұрын
Empty Box ok. so I can't get out of rookie with them?
@TacticalCardboard10 жыл бұрын
The fewer incident points you get the faster you get out, yes. You can still get incidents and get out of rookie. As the license level goes up, you have lower tolerances essentially, you need fewer incidents to hold a A license than a D class for example.

The iracing software is getting really good. They use to be too slick to drive half the time. Mazda would spin out going like 50mph in a corner, and the Gen 6 was practially undrivable, its gotten much much better lately with the new builds. I think you would love it, no other racing title offers the MP clean racing aspect like iracing does.

What are you talking about? They race these cars as fast as they can possibly be raced at a RC . When's the last time a so called "Road course ringer" won a cup race at a road course? Been quite a while.
@TacticalCardboard9 жыл бұрын
Nic H. I'd easily consider Marcos Ambrose, Juan Pablo Montoya and AJ Allmendinger as road course ringers considering that is where 95% of their background is, regardless of if they were full time drivers or not. It's gotten better over the years, but there is still a clear delineation in the NASCAR world on the road courses between those who can drive and those who flop around like a fish out of water.
@nic25379 жыл бұрын
I see. Remind me again how many wins Marcos and AJ have racked up in the cup series...then we can compare that to the everyday oval racers. Guess who'll have more. I'm not saying these guys are up to snuff with F1 & indy on road courses (open wheel drivers certainly have no oval game compared to NASCAR drivers while we're at it) I am however saying that for the most part, the cup guys are competent road course racers these days and are running the cars to their full potential at those tracks...again, for the most part. Anyway, nice video, nice win. I'll check more out later.
@TacticalCardboard9 жыл бұрын
Nic H. Some of them are, most of them are not. You know when NASCAR goes to a road course you automatically eliminate half the field as competing for the win, because it isn't going to happen. Until a NASCAR guy goes into Indycar and proves they have no oval game, you can't say anything. Kurt Busch got slotted into one of the top teams whose teammate actually won the race, after half a month of practice on one track and just cruised to 6th. That's where I'd expect that car last year to finish running safe and in a "dont screw up" fashion - hardly "wow, NASCAR drivers are so amazing".
@LordofTheWhales9 жыл бұрын
U would be amazed what some nascar drivers can do, Jeff Gordon as an example, he's good on any track, ovals, road courses, he can win it. He was on his way to be an indycar driver but he made the right choice and went to nascar
