IRAN 2024🇮🇷 Isfahan City Night Walking Tour on Jolfa Street

Nojolfa or New Jolfa (Armenian: No Jogha - Noor Jogha), a place with an Armenian population, was built in the Safavid era, in the city of Isfahan, by the southern source of the river. The name of New Jolfa is taken from the name of the city of Jolfa on the bank of Aras River, whose main inhabitants are Armenians. The Armenians of New Jolfa during the time of Shah Abbas I of Safavid in 1013 AD. (1605 AD) from there they moved to Isfahan.
From the time they built Jolfa, Armenians engaged in trade and commerce, continued their activities in this field, and started to build valuable buildings and works by rich and famous people such as Khwaje Avdik and Khwaje Nazar.
Among the most prominent ancient and religious monuments of New Jolfa are Amena Pargich Church (known as Vank, which means "church" in Armenian) and Badkham Church. More than 1,200 ancient relics related to Armenians are kept in the Khachatur Kesaratsi Museum in the area of New Jolfa.
Jolfa is also famous as the center of French missionaries in Isfahan during the Qajar era. The population of this neighborhood (statistical block) in 1401 was 17,549 people with a density of 119 people per square kilometer.
