Have you ever heard of "frame carpet" or 'frame rug"? While I was exploring Tehran Grand Bazaar I got the chance to learn about them and how they are made. Sharing the whole experience with you.

My friend, as an Iranian Azari whose grandmother immigrated from Baku, to get away from Russians and go back to Iran, I just tell you, although you use the phrase “north Azarbaijan” or “south Azarbaijan”, the actual Azarbaijan was always SOUTH OF ARAX river. North of Arax was called Aran and Shirvan (hence name Shirvan Shahan). When Russia annexed that land from iran, they named it Azarbaijan, to which Iranian Azaris protested heavily.

I wonder what they teach them in their school history classes, that they were once part of Persia? In any case, saying South Azerbaijan sounds offensive, as if it is the inferior part of something bigger. In addition, saying Azerbaijan instead of Azarbaijan is itself mischievous, because azar is a totally Persian word, meaning fire, and shouldn't be pronounced in the Mongolian language that they use, which turns the a into e. Another case is the totally ancient Persian word shahr, meanning city, which the Turkic languages pronounce as shehir. I liked the way even the gentlemen from Tabriz kept him at arm's length, and one wasn't interested in showing him his shop when asked to.

@@mortezanazar5967 many people just dont know about it. And they say south azerbaijan just because its in south of the country Azerbaijan. Not every person that uses this phrase has ill intentions. I'm sure Davut doesnt want to be disrepectful.

I hear sometimes some Iranians using the fake term of south Azarbaijan too. The name of Azarbaijan belongs to the south of Aras river which is located now in Iran. Now they are called East and West Azarbaijan Provinces. In all of the old maps which made by Europeans or Russians, you can see that the name of Azarbaijan was used only for the area in south of Aras. After separating of many Iranian cities to the Russians by wars between 1812 and 1823 between Iran and Russia, the communist regime of that area in the beginning of 1900 stole the name of Azarbaijan from Iran. So, many years they were brainwashed first by Russians and especially last 40 years brainwashed by fake governments, they are so rude that they change whole history also in the school books. So, it is not strange that the most people of fake Azarbaijan have gotten only fake and manipulated information. All of information and history provided by Iran are just true and based on real documents but their history and info is just made up and fake. Azarbaijanis are historically, culturally and genetically Iranic, DNA prove this too.

Confused 🧐 am I! Are these authentic hand made or machine made? Through the camera lens I’m not convinced. Takes 6 months to make and you pay 150. It doesn’t ring true to me - sounds like a Chinese market ploy? To be honest I’d rather they be machine made fakes as I’d be gutted otherwise. If the real macoy would rather pay to the creator of the artwork directly and at a more higher price. You may recall that Davud brought a cloth book from Kyrgyzstan- way less time was spent on that. I’m not at all convinced plus ‘the last supper’ picture I wonder how many copies there are on that market.

@@naderhfx2000 I know about the floor rugs as have grown up with them and possess several from Turkey, Afghanistan and Pakistan. Also have a small silk I think from Iran - it is very fine. But all are quite costly and sad to say a number of the older ones were probably made by child exploitation/labour (I remember reading articles on one appalling factory owner chaining the children). These picture framed ones I’m suspecting that they are not fully handmade - would have to see in real to examine. But if they are the real McCoy then I think it’s a travesty that they are being sold so cheaply. Here in London we can get rubbish prints that size selling for £150. Will remain a ? for now, will have to speak to someone with better knowledge and eyesight than I. Either way I’d be reluctant to buy such an item nowadays other than from the person who created the item and then ethics would also dictate me to pay a much higher price than the 150 dollar’s being quoted.

While I appreciate your beautiful Vlog, there are a couple of things I need to recommend. First, Iranians say "Salam" or 'Dorood" as greeting words. Second, your country, the Republic of Azerbaijan was part of Iran until the 19th century when Iran lost that to Russia. There is no south Azarbaijan. There should be called Iranian Azarbaijan. Third, Iranian is the nationality and an Iranian could be from Azarbaijan province, Kordistan province, or Fras province, etc. So, there is no distinction between being Iranian and Azarbaijani. Better to say Iranian Azarbaijani.

The hand made Persian carpets are unique, if you buy one then you receive also a document of originality, sometimes they paste it to the backside of carpet. A Persian rug seller will not damage his reputation by cheating people. Besides the quality of a handmade rug with a machinal rug is obviously and easy to recognize.
