I thought you were going to talk about the coup d'etat of the fairly elected (1950) and popular Prime Minister of Iran, Mohammad Moseddeig. Iranians traded in a courageous, true leader for a sociopathic, greedy, murdering, STAVA, Western King puppeteer who betrayed the trust of the Iranian people despite the modern buildings he built over 26 years of his puppeteer kingdom. He gave the West want it wanted the most from Iran: NOT democracy, not Freedom, but energy resources for the foreign corporate elite. Give the good people of Iranian a chance at fair elections again and keep the West and East and all foreigners out of their Free elections if they ever come to pass again. So many sociopaths become leaders, whether they are religious or secular. It's a rare leader who really cares about what their own people think. Countries engage in bitter disputes over lingering past experiences of very bad will, very bad acts, and move forward with strategic self-protection, expecting the worst from an opponent that "burned" them in the past.

Happy Persian New Year! Kvon is my fave 1/2 Persian guy! I remember that long ago Persia was very much like a European country with a mix of faiths who were free to live as they wanted. The people were happy, successful, free, educated, tolerant. I want that coubtry restored and rid of the ruling extreme despots!

I think our ancestors crossed paths (Magyars and Persians) - I found out that Hungarians picked up quite a few words from your language. kabát/coat, padlizsán/eggplant, papucs(PAW-pooch)/slipper, hodzsa (HOAD-zhaw)/master, sál(sholl)/scarf as they moved west into Europe. Even language is influenced. Orange, Spanish naranja, and Hungarian narancs comes from Persia. Happy Nowruz - I hope your new year is a great one.

I was born and spent my childhood in Tajikistan. I really loved Navruz. We are not Persians and did not celebrate it at home, but when everyone around you celebrates, you also feel this holiday. We with my classmates and my teacher used to go to a special bazaar where baked goods specially prepared for Navruz were sold. Everyone used to dress festively and there was a real feeling of spring coming

Actually: The area was controlled by Persians. This is a very large debate. But the game of chess we all play today with the rules and the shapes was Persian. The Indian version included dice. When was the last time you rolled dice on the chess board?

Happy New Year! Don't want to spoil the party but regarding the "persian" innovations, brain surgery (trepanation), chess, windmill and ice cream are not persian innovations at all. Also the first blows to the Persian Empire were in the battles of Marathon and in the island of Salamina. That of course doesn't change the value of the Persian civilization and the strong connections between the Greeks and the Persians at that time. Herodotus informs us that the Persians used to boil the water before they drink it ( very important innovation indeed) they never urinated in the rivers or in the lakes. Also the men urinated while sitting down and the women standing up! They learned homosexuality by the Greeks ( you know the Greek way of loving) and the men could pracτice polygamy and could also have various concubines.
