Speed boat* Also Iran does not rely on super large heavy slow battleships. Their doctrine is around many different speed boats armed with machine guns and RPGS attacking enemy ships. So just imagine being on a U.S ship only to be faced with dozens if not even hundreds of these very fast very mobile ships charging at you. Sure the gunners may take out a few and the auto targeting missiles may also take out a few but when the auto targeting missiles run out (There is not that much on any given ship) you will be left with your ship being sunk or damaged and before your air forces can react these speed boats are already leaving from all these different directions. The Iranian navy is like a swam of bees. And this doctrine is not something to laugh at

Just from a capability stand point, being the US was conducting Apache helicopter exercises, it leads me to wonder who would dispense of speed boats quicker - the navy ships themselves or the apache helicopters? Obviously this is a hypothetical question as I don't believe Apaches would be sent up as the risk for those pilots may be too high. Iranian speed boats are the biggest threat to US naval vessels and in swarms, I wonder what plans we have set in place for such a scenario?

Trust me we have plans (I’m not in the military yet) but I believe if you approach a naval vessel or CG vessel and start moving your gun you’re going to be in a world of hurt, as for the apaches they might send them but where those boats are so small the .50s and such could take em down. If the apaches were doing excersizes and they Iranian vessels or something did try and do something they may call in the apaches but all your gonna get from them is the cannon on the nose missiles could be a threat to the naval and CG vessels play again the naval and cg vessels are heavily armed I definitely would not pick a fight with even the smallest CG or Navy vessel.
