Maybe that could be somewhat mitigated if they were required to turn the police sirens and flashing lights on outside, at the very moment they kick in the door. Then there is no point in being sneaky anymore and the people inside would know it is actually the police and not just some guy pretending to be. Not a perfect solution but maybe one that is somewhat realistic to be implemented within reasonable time and would help quite a bit.

I was a victim of a no knock warrant behind mistaken identity. Luckily for me (and them) I saw they were police before I started shooting. I put my gun down and came out of my bedroom with my hands up. After the detectives searched my house and figured out he had the wrong guy, he Apologized to me and said "I'm glad you gave up quietly because with the guns you have, a lot of people could've died today." These assholes kicked my door in scared the hell out of me and my family and I barely got an apology, they didn't even fix my door. They could've just knocked on my door and got the same result they did but they choose to put all our lives in danger. We need to get rid of this law.

I'm a retired LEO, 20 years as a deputy sheriff, deputy marshal , firearms instructor - range master , and tactical team leader. I believe that "no knock " warrants should be outlawed. Every officer knows that the safest scenario for serving a warrant is to wait until the suspect is in a vehicle, where a traffic stop can be executed with the suspect(s) at a complete tactical disadvantage. If there's a search warrant for his residence, you detain him and then go to the residence and conduct a tactical entry and search with an announcement.

I can relate to the sounds in the night comment. A few years ago there was a police raid using an armored vehicle and tear gas grenade launcher. It was literally 40 feet from my front door, middle of the night, and I heard nothing. not a peep. The next day I saw my neighbors windows blown out, smelled a bad odor and my wife told me she bolted awake to the sound of megaphones and sirens blaring in the night. Amazing what you can sleep through when you're tired from work.

I am not against no knocks, there are extremely dangerous people out there where a no knock may be needed. Having said that, you had better be 310% on your intel as if you were a mathematician working for NASA putting someone in space. When someones, anyone's, life is on the line you check, and recheck, and then have someone else check and recheck the numbers so that when that door does get kicked in, it's a bad guy and not just someone down the hall because someone wrote an 8 that looked like a 6.

Instead of no knock warrants they can wait until the person is leaving their house and catch TV hem off guard. It would be a lot less of a risk and be orchestrated and planned so that they prevent a chase and know for a fact that is who they are looking for. Either way we need to get rid of no knocks. This is why you get a fiberglass door, with long reinforced screws that go in at the hinge and deadbolt. Then you will wake to some frustrated police hitting your door with a battering ram wondering why it keeps bouncing off of it. Just be careful before you walk up to it that they are not about to use a shotgun on the deadbolt .

Eric, I know you do a LOT of reloading. As an experiment do you think you could mock up 20 rounds of .223 brass out of copper, as fire them reliably through any AR-15 platform gun? Is copper a viable case material? I know during the War that was not Civil, it was tried. Would modern alloys be superior?

I worked as a police officer for a while. In 25 years I must have served or was present for probably, well at least 200 warrants. I've never requested, or was involved in a no knock warrant. As you guys said no knock warrants are dangerous and of no real practical or tactical use. There are easier and much more practical ways to accomplish the task. One thing some folks don't realize is that every no knock warrant requires a separate approval by the issuing judge. So the police are not the only responsible party. It is the courts as well.

I actually work for a federal law enforcement agency and no-knock warrants are prohibited due to the safety considerations. There is an argument to be made for using no-knock warrants in some situations, but those would be very limited to only situations where the subject is involved in violent crime (a murder suspect for example). Regarding the Breonna Taylor situation, there were tragically so many failures and there needs to be a criminal investigation of the event.

First off, I am a black man and a HUGE fan of this channel for many years....Now, I don't like No Knock Wareants.... BUT in this case here are the facts... FACT: Breonna Taylor was involved in a drug operation in which the Narcotics Department have her vehicle traveling to and from a known "trap house." They also have the dealer of that trap house on video, pulling up to Breonna's house and leaving with a package. They did a simultaneous raid on both her house and the trap house. They performed a no-knock so that the evidence could not be flushed or destroyed. She put herself in that situation and I don't buy that the boyfriend fired the shot that hit the cop either. It just as well could have been her firing the shot. Either way, although it's unfortunate that she lost her life BUT she wasn't innocent in the situation either. Speaking on behalf of the black community, we have to stop including the cases like this one in comparison to Floyd's death. Trayvon Martin, Mike Brown and some others who Nanci Pelosi and the "Pander Squad" mentioned were CRIMINALS and were shot, killed, justifiably. 💯
