Hey man as a historian do you mind if I ask you a couple questions? I've had a passion for Mythology, Symbolism, Etymology, Ancient History & the Occult/Secret Societies since I was a child. My 6th grade teacher specifically is the one who sparked the flame for me. I feel like it's my destiny to get involved with History but at the same time I've always been deterred from it as a career as I've always heard being a historian is only a little better then working retail when it comes to financially succeeding as a career. Do you find any truth in that? I'm 29 now & am having a crisis trying to hurry and find a career before its too late for me to do so as I'd have to start from square 1 & being my age and just starting anything is never a good look. Can I support my family & live a comfortable life style being a historian? Or is it honestly not worth it as a career and more of a hobby type of thing?
@dariodegros9243 жыл бұрын
@@brandonconstantine3853 Hi, that is a very good question. You might not be happy with the answer though. I myself am a teacher which is what I wanted to do with my history degree so for me its not a problem. But I don't think I know anyone from my university that actually is a professional historian. Most of them are teachers or journalists by now. One person works in a museum though. I live in Belgium and there is not alot of work for somebody who wants to do actual research. It might be diffrent where you live though. Unlike Belgium the US is a country that thrives on its history for example. You can succeed as a historian and have a good carreer, but I fear that more than most professions you'll need to be lucky to get it. Now, if you think that teaching is something you would like to do, to spark the flame in others like your 6th grade teacher did with you, go for it :) You can always be on the lookout for something more while you are teaching. Alot of teacher teach part time and do part time research.

Totally agree on the AC:Origins, Bayek is my overall fav AC character of the lot. I remember an old National Geographic from the 80s that showed footage of the panel behind the Sphinx in Egypt. Not just random.... but SUPER random! Adulting can be quite the frustration. That craving can be very painful when you have had a long day and have to debate between sleep and gaming. It's not just your mom's place, but your Mom's and Cats' place! I can relate, I always would say it's not my home, but Mandy's (my old cat) too. I loved hearing about your talks with Assassin's Creed Origins in the discord, you really really loved this specific game in the recent iterations of the franchise. It is really good to see the excitement in your expressions and in your voice as well as when you write about it. I could have sworn in a previous Voice Chat you said similar things along the lines of feeling like you have "been to Egypt before" in a previous life. I am starting to feel like you might have a reincarnation. Not sure if I might be all for the fixture myself, but cool that someone offered the option to play portable with a pro controller. Last time I played with the switch undocked was in tabletop mode when a power outage occurred. I played that with my procontroller. Note to self: Don't pack the Fixture and Switch away like Ircha, stuff can fall down lol. Loved watching you play Poison Control on the Voice Chat in the Discord. That was a lot of fun for many of us who tuned in. I enjoyed hearing your perspectives as you were playing as well as you got all our inputs as well. Would be interested in seeing you do that some more if that is possible down the line when you have more time. lol you and I are polar opposites, I despise gyro controls, motion sensing controllers have never agreed with me. but I hope that they can improve on the mechanics in future updates (maybe include that gyro controls you desire). You did not sound so enthused with Deiland at all from what I saw in that Voice Chat. You did try to get into it but, your tone really didn't feel immersed in the game. P.S.: I hope the necklace is able to get repaired.

I completed both original Deiland (the one that came out before Summer in Mara and on PS4) and Summer in Mara, so I get the complaints and compared to so many other games in the farming simulation genre they are both just really okay in my experience, but I think if they keep working from the feedback they get, they have potential to become much better developers in the future.

Thanks for the context. I'm not a big farming Sim player, so it's good to know this is middle tier in that genre.

@@redlion145 To be fair it is a small new indie team that made these two titles. As a professional developer that has worked in small indie companies in the past, I understand that it's very different comparing how a new small indie company approaches development compared to a seasoned company with experienced developers. I haven't tried the Deiland remake yet, but just from what I've seen, it looks like they used what they learned from Summer in Mara to enhance it. So maybe when they have more games under their belts, they'll make some really good titles in the future.

@brandonconstantine38533 жыл бұрын
DO NOT buy any of the Harvest Moons. They are not even the same game from the GameCube which is why most people support Harvest Moon. If you are looking for the real Harvest Moon it's called Story of Seasons. Don't be fooled. Harvest Moon is trash unless your playing the GameCube version which was made by the same studio who does Story of Seasons. To put it simply, Story of Seasons is the real Harvest Moon from back in the day, they just had trouble with keeping the name due copyright issues. So they used there original name over seas for the rest of their American releases which is Story of Seasons.

Ok, first, no matter how much you like playing with your switch, nothing is worth destroying your hands, so please always consult your doctor as well. That being said, there's people playing video games with one hand or no hands at all. Look up "gaming accessibility", especially for tendinitis. Problem is, the more you veer into custom, the more expensive it gets... Also you'll likely have to get adapters as well. Sadly, you might have to give up some specific genres of games. I hope I won't be too blunt ... But I will never recommend Deiland... First, the devs already had the base game made! This is what everyone else has on Steam, PS4 and Xbox. Than this dev decided they needed to have a whole new Kickstarter to make thousands, just to up visuals, add a pet dog, seasons, seasonal fishing and some other minor aspects... You know, things most other games of this genre naturally have. 🙄 Well, the dev loved when I posted about Summer in Mara. I was even kickstarting Deiland (against better judgment) and I message the dev about Mara. If there was a place I could submit a bug report to. Mind you, I had messaged before and gotten responses. But the minute I mention that their precious game has bugs (ones that crashes my Switch). The dev decided to ghost me. Acting as if I no longer existed. I'm sorry. A good dev wants their game to be better. And doesn't always take offense if someone asks a simple question. I got to see how this dev really was. And I got to cancel my Kickstarter before the deadline. And I am so happy I did. I can not believe the amount of money they brought in for this game. When they already had the base game as is. It's like Summer in Mara all over again. That Kickstarter brought in soo much. Yet what players got, did not live up to the potential it could of had. I would definitely stay clear of their games. Less one gets it on a massive discount! Imo, they've already gotten enough out of people. They never bring quality. But they definitely bring in the 🤑

I didn't mind Deiland and ended up playing it through to conclusion.. There's no escaping its mobile origins which has resulted in a game that isn't as dynamic. Repetitious chores and quests are fairly one dimensional and it didn't take me long to game the process. But in saying that, I got attached to the home I created and found the beauty/aesthetics very appealing. No it's not a great game, but it's still not bad. Especially if you get it in sale or review code 😁. Give it another go once your world calms down from the move. Xx

just want to say, the logic of past lives is as follows, whatever instinct you may use to infer a past life you have to wonder if it isn't a type of romantic one but truly if any life is a past life all are and that includes those yet to be lived. suffice it to say, you reincarnate into one life you reincarnate into all lives. think of it as a big daisy chain of souls. imagine the person you wish to reincarnate comes to find out you were the one they were before. it'd be weird, like that was the person who earned my life? it just doesn't add up without it being the whole lot. that said, this sort of perception helps me empathize even with people I disagree with/don't want to be.

Blasphemy! Zelda: BotW is the greatest game of all time. The sequel has some massive shoes to fill for me. BotW replaced my previously held #1 that was my favorite game since 1994 which was Super Metroid so yea. Damn, now I want to boot up the game again.

Nice video, but there is something that completely lacks in your voice: enthusiasm. You sound like you're talking about some boring 9 to 5 job that you dislike, not something you're passionate about. Just a friendly feedback
