Hard lines lads. No idea how Genge isnt captain. He is a real credit to the squad and the growth of the team. Reacted well to Ireland, onwards and upwards
@sethtrujillo1542 жыл бұрын
I feel he shouldn’t be captain because he excites his teammates and further energizes them. Usually they want captains to be calm, quiet, and best friends with the ref, in order to win favor in the long run. That’s why you don’t often see any props as captains.

Malins isn't in the squad (even though I think he should be on the bench covering the back 3), but please LORD let us see Lynagh in an England shirt, that kid is just waiting to be unleashed. We have so many great specialist wingers like Nowell, Hassel-Collins, Lynagh, Cokanasiga, Watson, Radwan etc... Here's hoping we start to see them in action.

I see a good defence, a strong team bond, good set-piece. No attack. We have the players, but the structure isn't there. I can't tell if it is just different so it is taking a while to learn or if there is no structure. Either way, can't beat France without scoring tries.

Proud of the lads Good points: Pack was unbelievable Marchant had his best game Steward was great under the hall ball Smith kept the score board ticking Things to work on: Our attack looks poor and unimaginative. When we do keep ball in hand we just pass is down the line which isn’t enough against the likes of Ireland and France. We never look like scoring and have hardly seen any tries this 6N 10/10 effort from Malins but I don’t think he’s our winger. He’s quick but not that quick and he’s not big. You can see how much we are missing a winger when you see the likes of Lowe playing against us. Well done Ireland thought the way you managed to control the last 20 was good particularly against a very loud Twickenham

For perspective...Remember Ireland lost their Captain in the 2nd minute. England didnt score a single try. Genge cheated in the scrum & u got lucky with the Ref. And Ireland won by a record margin at Twickenham. Not that much to crow about I suggest.
@Zavala12 жыл бұрын
I hope Ryan is OK and gets over the spate of concussions he's had but he's not a huge loss in that situation. Ireland have masses of experience across the park and England obviously lost a player for almost the entire game. England continue to look toothless with this backline, which is a worry. I don't know if it's getting used to Smith, not having a true ball-carrier in midfield and not having express pace anywhere but it needs to change as England aren't going to be anywhere near the world cup with this penetration. Genge/England were rewarded for doing what they were doing and weren't going to change whilst getting penalties. It's up to the officials to step in and correct the foul play. Show me a prop who says he always scrummages correctly and I'll show you a liar. The officials probably should've pinged England on a couple of occasions. There will be times when Ireland get similar treatment and I'm sure Furlong won't be correcting the referee and admitting foul play. It happens. Ireland are the better team. They deserved to win by that margin. It could've been more if they'd kept their collective heads a little more. A deep line-break against 14 men should lead to a try fairly often. Maybe against a superior team (New Zealand, South Africa, France), Ireland would have come up short. They looked spooked for 20 minutes or so but the extra man told at the end of the game. I've not seen anyone really crow about the game. England lost and it was their own doing. People have enthused about the spirit, recognised the effort and enjoyed individual performances (Itoje, Genge, George especially) but the team is still a long way off challenging in 2023 for the World Cup. I'm not sure they have the time to rectify the problems they have.

England cheating in the scrums and congratulating each other, and so proud of it , makes me sick. See Nigel Owens opinion of the refereeing. Referee should be on to their tricks in Paris.
@rob.12 жыл бұрын
Cheating? It's literally called scrummaging. You think all 16 blokes normally turn up and declare to push very gently in a straight and uniform manner? Ref gives you a penalty, you do the same thing again. Ireland would do the same, and you wouldn't be calling them cheats.

It's not sarcasm. The stuff they do is very superficial. Also sub-optimal for building meaningful relationships. You build meaningful bonds through meaningful activities (charitable and social work, activism, etc.), some of which rugby squads could perfectly well do, for example charitable and social work. Also helps generate support and goodwill among the public.
