I voted in favour of Brexit here in the U.K. and I would gladly do so again without hesitation, as an Irish Catholic Patriot and Irish Passport holder - I just wish there was a referendum on Ireland leaving the EU and I would without hesitation “get the boat to vote” in favour of an EirExit if it ever happened - the EU has always been a millstone around Ireland’s neck since 1972 and it should have never been entered into, just like our membership of the UN and all other international bodies, just like the Treaty of 1921 - Eamon De Valera and Michael Collins should have never entered into discussions with the British re the Treaty of 1921 and carried on fighting for a United Ireland, even if this meant that the Unionists had to leave Northern Ireland, despite the Black and Tans, as Cathal Brugha had always advocated, as we would have prevented the bitter and divisive Irish Civil War of 1922 and Ireland would have went in a far better direction

Great street poll! Interesting opinions and great attitude from most people and a lot of honest statements. After two years this is now historic and we know in hindsight that most interviewees saying „a lot of b*“ were close to the real thing. In 2021 Britain starts to look more and more like Poland in the 1980s: queuing for petrol, empty shelves at the supermarkets, not enough workforce, price inflation… It may not always be like that, but the road out of Europe is rather bumpy. I would love to see the English answering questions about Brexit now! Did you vote for / against? Do you think it was worth it? Any regrets?

I would also like to know why these people think that trading with countries outside of the E.U. would be so difficult? It should be easy for us to supply cheap energy along with so many other goods and services to our friends across the pond. If people could freely work between our countries it would also help our skilled labour shortage and bring more prosperity to everyone. Here's hoping a better solution will be created.

The relationship between Ireland and the EU is a very different one to that of the UK and the EU. Both countries joined the Common market on the same day and it would be fair to say that it was the UK that was the prize for the Europeans and not Ireland. Whilst the UK has pumped billions into the EU and received only a fraction of that money back in regional funding, Ireland has received billions in handouts dragging Ireland into prosperity from a second world nation with crappy roads filled with antique cars. The UK has funded pretty much every road and bridge in Spain and Portugal and subsidised the whole of France's peasant farm industry. Whatever your politics on Brexit the position of the UK and how it has been taken advantage of needs to be recognised. The EU may have been a cash cow for Ireland but not for every member state.

Here’s something that I wish people across our World would understand and truly Live by: *”MORE FREEDOM FOR A COUNTRY OR CITY OR INDIVIDUALS, IS ALWAYS BETTER. THAN MORE BUREAUCRACY & MORE GOVERNMENT CONTROL! NO MATTER HOW MANY SUPPOSED “BENEFITS & CONVENIENCES” POLITICIANS CLAIM GOVERNMENT PROVIDES. THE COST *IS ALWAYS, ALWAYS, ALWAYS* HIGHER THAT THE MEASLY BENEFITS PEOPLE RECEIVE.* BECAUSE, THE MOST VITAL FACT, PEOPLE NEED TO UNDERSTAND IS: ANYTHING & EVERYTHING THAT ANY GOVERNMENT “PROVIDES” TO IT’S PEOPLE, FIRST HAD TO *TAKEN FROM THOSE VERY PEOPLE.* GOVERNMENT DOES NOT CREATE ANYTHING, EVERY TAX DOLLAR PAID TO A CITIZEN. FIRST HAD TO BE TAKEN FROM A CITIZEN. EVERY “RIGHT & PRIVILEGE” A GOVERNMENT ALLOWS TO PEOPLE LIKE : FISHING, HUNTING OR DRIVING A CAR. THE PERSON ALREADY HAD THAT RIGHT, BUT, THE GOVERNMENT FIRST HAD TO COME IN AND STRIPP THAT RIGHT FROM EVERYONE. JUST TO THEN *SELL* THOSE RIGHTS BACK TO SOME PEOPLE. So in the case of Brexit, Britain will absolutely have MORE OPPORTUNITIES & ABILITY, To trade goods to whom ever AFTER BREXIT. Because, There will be 1 less level of Government TAKING THEIR RIGHTS AWAY FROM THEM, AND THEN *SELLING* THOSE RIGHTS BACK TO *ONLY A SELECT FEW INDIVIDUALS.*

Agreed it’s been a disaster speaking as someone from scotland! It’s hillarious how england wanted there independence from the EU but they want to stop scotland having a second chance at independence even though it would seem that’s what the people want!
@dennisemanuelsson82403 жыл бұрын
The situation has change a lot since 2014 and it is only fair that the Scottish people can get a second say in this. However though I do understand why many Englishmen voted for Brexit as a Swede. Massimigration is something that EU has drowned both Sweden and England with and the situation of immigration is not as bad in Scotland as it is in England or Sweden and I think that's why many common people in England voted for Brexit. Just what I think, though I belive Scotland has their right to decide over their own fate.

@MsMissy it would seem we are considering your prime minister and anyone from the Conservative party totally opposes the idea maybe because you get a large share of our yearly GDP and you would lose that if we gained independence. It’s funny how you look down on us considering you’ve let your country turn into a third world country I didn’t even recognise Manchester or london last time I was there unsafe places and I’d hate to live in England!
