I know right! Is American bacon different than others' bacon??
@1jurosado6 жыл бұрын
@@kbaca9415 In a word, yes. Bacon is different just about everywhere, American bacon would just be sliced pork belly in most places while a leaner, thicker, more ham-like, meat would be called bacon (as in Canadian bacon) or perhaps something closer to a thin dry-cured ham (As in German speck). At any rate, don't expect American bacon outside of the United States unless it is advertised as such. That said, bacon from all around the world is tasty, the only times i've regretted eating bacon is when I was offered turkey bacon (gross) and vegan bacon (even worse). Maybe they are getting better with the flavor but that texture is just too hard to replicate with anything other than the real McCoy. This was way more than you probably asked for but it's late, i'm wired, and super bored.

Spunky Monkey It's funny because every facts video is basically them loving our "disgusting versions." Also, by your logic then PIZZA AND PASTA are in fact Chinese because the ideas were stolen by Italian explorers--most likely Marco Polo. Also tomatoes were not native to Italy, tomatoes were brought from Peru by Spanish Conquistadors, so naturally Peruvians probably invented tomato sauce. Minced meat patties have been around since the Roman era and in Asian countries, so not German then. A lot of foods today are only renowned because of its Americanization--wings, hot dogs, burgers, pizza, fried chicken, BBQ, etc.

It's just too hard to beat good (American) pancakes with maple (or maple-flavored) syrup. The extra crap isn't necessary. Good pancakes do not have to be thick. I like mine about 3mm thick, but they are still fluffy. They need to be made with buttermilk, as well. And covered with some butter, too. Sausage or bacon make a nice side for them.

Stories by Brittney I don't mind when they represent our food properly and they don't like it. That's fine.I'd rather they represent the food properly and they hate it (like root beer), rather than them love it but be horribly represented. So, thank you this time around Facts, for doing thus right!

dunno, i've never heard of red velvet pancakes, that sounds like some made-up marketing iHop bullshit, nor have i ever seen anyone put bacon on them, either.

Buckwheat pancakes with light syrup......heaven, pure heaven. The natural sweetness and nuttiness of the buckwheat and then just light syrup really lets the full flavor come out. No butter, but if you do, whipped sweet cream butter ONLY.

E Kramer2 pour thick, let the bubbles pop, then flip. It should be firm enough to not splatter. I used to do peanut butter and syrup.
@bums0097 жыл бұрын
E Kramer2 I love making French crepes with sugar and lemon juice or just some good quality honey... I loved when my mother used to make them as a child, I know my grandmother made them for her when she was young too. And I hope to make them for my future children as well. Everyone has their own familial pancake traditions to pass down it seems 😂.
@KCimini7 жыл бұрын
The trick is to not overmix the pancake batter or the eggs when making them from scratch... cook them on medium low(and allow time for the pan to warm before pouring), and flip when the bubbles pop. They should be nice and fluffy! But share any awesome crepe recipes you have! I love trying new recipes and cooking!

I lived in Wales for a couple of years and in England for 15. Every pancake day I would make more and more people American pancakes and they loved them but they had no idea how feeling they were either! I make my pancakes just like you ate but about as big around as the plate so big strapping men had trouble with two of them and I can only eat one that big normally I make them a little smaller. But every British person I gave American pancakes to was like I've been eating French crepes my whole life not pancakes! LOL

Crepes have their place, but they're not a replacement for a fluffy, buttery, not-too-sweet-not-too-sour American pancake!

#2 and 3 aren't really pancakes no matter how tasty. 4 is a proper pancake but with the addition of bacon on top. Not the best bacon, but even substandard bacon is usually welcome. I wish I could feed you a proper Southern American breakfast. It might be your most favorite American experience ever if I could. Anyway it's good to hear positive comments about our culture instead of about how loud and fat we are.

If anyone ever has the option, get Vermont maple syrup. Processed syrup like Ms. Buttersworth don't got shit on we got here. Vermont Syrup is liquid gold in price, but your taste buds will thank you. If you've had Vermont Syrup and are not from Vermont, let me know what you think.
@guslook31847 жыл бұрын
Vermont maple syrup always tastes the same to me. It's what maple syrup tastes like. Always perfect standard maple syrup. Alot of the Maine maple syrups have a certain flavor to the sweetness. Like it's got a bite to it. There is an extra terpine or flavor in the trees. Canadian maple syrup is the sweetest but has less flavors. I've mistaken Canadian maple syrup for the fake stuff. It's kinda neat that they are all the same trees in same corner of the Earth, but they taste different enough so that people can argue over "the best".
@Manfromthenorth05517 жыл бұрын
I've had Canadian syrup and found it to taste pretty similar to Vermont, but I live close to the border so the source of our Canadian syrup is probably from the same area of trees that our syrup comes from.
@Manfromthenorth05517 жыл бұрын
In vermont we take it seriously, as it's a main export. Shit people have stolen barrels of the stuff worth thousands of dollars. In St. Albans Vermont, where I live we even have the Maple Festival. Where there are rides, games, and pretty much every bit of food has maple somewhere in it.
@mescko6 жыл бұрын
I rarely eat pancakes/syrup anymore, but when I do, I won't have the fake stuff anymore. It's nothing but HFCS, and I'm trying to cut that out of my diet as much as I can, one of the worst things you can put in your body (not to mention that the real thing tastes soooo good). I figure If I'm going to pour liquid sugar on something, it may as well be a natural substance! Never have tried Canadian, just Vermont.

Amelia Showalter Thank you Amelia! I knew there was no way it's just red colored chocolate
@MalixJanon7 жыл бұрын
Red Velvet used to be red because the vinegar would react with the cocoa powder's anthocyanins (which gets redder in presence of a strong acid) but nowadays that is virtually impossible since most cocoa powders go through a process which neutralizes the anthocyanins, so they have to dye it red with food coloring. The reason why Red Velvet cake tastes so much different than chocolate cake is that Red Velvet has the addition of cream cheese, whereas chocolate cake has more chocolate in addition to chocolate frosting. EDIT: another thing is Red Velvet has buttermilk.
