I remember back in the 1980s Northern Ireland railways were using the old compartment carriges on their enterprise trains..I got on one going to mosney from connoly ...the nostalgia 😆 🤣

Aaah Mosney Station : the loop line has been removed and the station itself, now unused, is detached from the main line. (Worked there in summers 1970 and 71..)

Amazing video Stephen I love this video its so interesting and has some great moments I would say some of the rarest moments were when 112 hauled 141 & 85 and seeing 112 in North Wall & 3005 at Claude Road & it was rare seeing a 29k on the Cork line also why was a 29k on the Cork line & why was 112 in North Wall & keep up the amazing work

Nice catches. Question, why would you be seeing steam locomotives being hauled around?
@Irish-Transport-Photography Жыл бұрын
The RPSI have a few Steam locos for Heritage runs and conservation, its most likely being hauled to Inchicore to be stored while wviting for a heritage run

Great vid, just one question. With the context of the 29000 set hauling the DART set, what does a DaRT transfer mean and what purpose does it serve?
@irish_trains2 жыл бұрын
DART transfers use 29000s to haul DARTs to drogheda for the wheel lathe. the 29000s are used because of the coupler being compatible
@Irish-Transport-Photography2 жыл бұрын
@@irish_trains brilliant, thanks
@elliottfisherman Жыл бұрын
Why wouldn’t you just drive the DART itself?

@@elliottfisherman The electrified lines end at Malahide, well before Drogheda, so it needs to be towed by diesel power.
@Irish-Transport-Photography Жыл бұрын
@@elliottfisherman because the Darts need to be brought to Drogheda for the wheel Lathe, but the Dart's are EMU's and rely on electrified lines, and the lines are only electrified as far as malahide, whereas the 29000's are DMU's and can run that far

I’d love to see the M3 Parkway line extended to Navan, as having family in Dunshaughlin and travelling home on SailRail from Manchester via Holyhead into Dublin Port (North Wall) this would make things so much easier

That second clip of the level crossing at Sutton is not something you see everday...i live there and you hardly ever see something like that.

The last time a loco went out to Howth prior to that was February 2020 on an engineers train. It's very rare to see anything apart from a dart on that line. In my 10 years of filming trains. I've only ever seen a loco on the branch about 10 times. So when something like that goes out, I never pass up the opportunity to grab a shot.
