Until a few months ago I owned a Sigma 180mm f2.8 OS macro lens and used it on a Nikon D500. Fantastic lens but so heavy: it wasn't easy lens to handhold. I now use a Sony 90mm macro on an A7III. It is so much lighter than the Sigma and handholding it is a doddle.

Great video Stewart - looks like a huge weight when you have camera, battery pack, twin flash and this new lens. Nice looking lens so i look forward to the full review when it comes out. only trouble is i might want to buy one and having invested in the Canon 100mm macro my budget might not stretch to one of these also. Your pre-sets, would they work in Photoshop if you sold them? if yes then i am interested. regards Erich

I wonder if it can be a replacement for the canon 100, always looking to improve but without stabilization I'm not sure, light is always an issue with macro and the stabilization does help with this, looking forward to the field work, could you look into David Forgang's comment regarding the rubber focus ring moving, your vids are always a pleasure to watch but you need help if you start talking and apologizing to your lens.....that's what my wife tells me anyway :)
@StewartWoodArt5 жыл бұрын
I always need help lol. It could definitely be a replacement for the 100mm macro lens. I am feeling the hit when it comes to the image stabilization. As for the rubber ring moving I've not experienced that as of yet.

I have this lens (IRIX 150mm ) for a couple of months now, but I notice something very strange. Every time I mounted this lens on a camera (in this case a Canon camera) the battery depletes faster, even goes down when the camera is setting down in the off position. I had contact IRIX about this but I haven’t heard any resolution to this yet. I’ am wondering if anybody else have this issue.
@StewartWoodArt5 жыл бұрын
I have seen the battery drain a lot quicker, I've reached out to Irix and am waiting for a reply.

@@StewartWoodArt I am glad that I'm not the only one. Here in the USA we can only use the website (IRIX) to communicate; I send them on email with my concerns, the answer Was..... will contact our technical team in Europe to see if this is something that they are aware of and if is any kind of solution. It is just that when you are the only one with this problem (maybe) and you know is the lens , because only happens with this lens , well it is frustrating to say the least. Never had seen a crying lens before 😂 lens is good but no stabilization makes it little weak. Can you answer a question. If i shoot raw what picture profile settings will affect the final raw file? Does picture profile matters for raw? What you use?
