Im not saying there was no victim blaming, but we saw the video before the bodycam. We saw what happened but the cop didn't, maybe he didn't hear the guy saying they were driving the first time because cars were driving by on the road. The cop just got there, he's trying to figure out what happened, he wasn't watching the livestream, he has two people with their own version of what happened. Cops don't have a third eye that allows them to know the truth, he heard the guy say he pulled her hair and anyone rational would have said he shouldn't have done that. Telling someone they shouldn't have escalated a situation is not the same as telling them the other person was in the right. IN EVERY other circumstances asking someone why they didn't just walk away would be 100% justified. Don't pretend you've never asked a dumb question under stress, its a part of being human.

It's so ridiculous hearing the guy go "she attacked me and then kept attacking me and then kept attacking me while we were in the car together so I pulled her hair to try and get her a stop and she went to that bystander to him it likely looks like I was just attacking her" And then the cop just responds "well you were pulling her hair so..." It's so disgusting especially when we have footage of her literally attacking him unprovoked

I had the police victim blame me when I had a stalker (he eventually went to prison for it) , he was insane. The police kept questioning me as if I’m the one who caused it asking if I’ve dated him or said anything to lead him on, I didn’t even know the guy. Ridiculous I was so furious had to deal with him stalking me for months before he finally got arrested.

@getsinged7631
@getsinged7631 7 ай бұрын
To be fair to the officer who was talking to the man, it seems like the information they had when they rolled up on the scene came from two men who reported a woman run frantically out of the car and hide inside a van for help, probably saying he was going to kill her because she mentioned that she thought he would kill her. The officer wouldn't have seen the footage yet and the man didn't do the best job of explaining what happened, that she was the one driving, that she was the one who initiated the confrontation etc. He did explain that she was hitting and punching him and that he then pulled her hair, but they also probably hear people downplay their own part in domestic abuse cases all the time. They really should be assuming everyone is innocent until proven guilty, but they also have to worry about their own safety and the safety of passersby, so they have to be ready for violence at a moment's notice. With the information available, I can see why that officer reacted the way he did.

The cop was right though. That dude made poor decisions and put himself in that position. He did notbing but verbally abuse her until she snapped and then wanted to play the victim. She snaps and attacks him and then also wants to play the victim. The truth is, they are both incredibly mental, both made awful decisions, and both are equally responsible for it escalating to the point that it did. Edit: this shouldn't even be a hot take. They both were awful towards each other. They were toxic AF. They pushed each others buttons until it boiled over to this point. Neither person is a victim here. This was hard to watch her interacting with the cop. The lying, asking if she is going to jail 50 times, didn't even bring up the video evidence for a little while, and trying to manipulate everyone around her.

That cop is such a hypocrite. He works in a profession notorious for hurting people when they "could've just walked away". I wonder how he would respond if someone started hitting him, in or out of uniform. Something tells me he might not like it very much, and may even need to defend himself 🤯 sad that he is inflicting this judgement onto others, especially while in a place of power

Cops like that are why I never reported my wife for DV. My friends never understood why I just took it. At the time I worked as a person trainer for a lot of local MMA and muay fighters. They've seen me spar and know how much I love sweeps and side step kicks to the calves. Couldn't understand why I wouldn't just defend myself and end any physical altercation immediately. I would never even think of doing that to the mother of my children, no matter what she did to me. No questioned the bruises. The day she struck my 3 year old son in front of me was the day I left. I had been recording the last several months of her attacking me in case things got worse. Luckily she gave up custody in exchange for the videos not getting out. When I called the cops after she struck him and attacked me, the second part on camera, they still asked me if I really wanted to press charges.

Oh, HECK NO! All women absolutely do NOT threaten to kill their romantic partner (assuming we can even call them that). I've been married for over 30 years, and we've never hit, strangled, or threatened to harm each other. Fight? Yeah, sure, but death threats not so much.
