Just bought the 240 for my apartment. Mostly need it for my kitchen and bathroom but since I have a lot of area rugs should be able to use it in my other rooms. Bought knock off reusable pads from Amazon and cleaning solution. Will be getting it this week.
@williamthomas61063 жыл бұрын
Sometimes the lower tech option is the best. I have a split level 1100 sqft townhouse. The downstairs is full tile, while upstairs, the only tile floor is in the bathroom. I suggest getting a second battery. This will allow you to continue to mop using one battery while the other recharges. This allows you to tackle larger floor plans by simply swapping out the battery and pad and moving to the next room or section of a larger room. I currently use the the mopping pad to do the entryway/kitchen and use the damp sweep pads to "damp sweep" the dining room/living room area. You can use the "built in virtual wall mode" and it's suggested "left side placement rule" to split larger rooms up into smaller chunks. Doing this will pretty much ensure you wont run into issues with oversaturated pads causing streaks. I do this when I want to "mop" the dining room/living room area instead of just "damp sweeping". Using reusable mop heads saves on consumable cost, and the Jet 240 is so quiet. Although not mentioned in the video, the 240's water usage CAN also be adjusted through the iRobot app, which is especially useful for wooden floors. It's just that you need to use Bluetooth to connect to the 240 instead of WiFi, which is pretty much the only real complaint. I love the m240's size because it can get back in and around the toilet. This is where it's diminutive size is a real advantage. Overall, I love my m240. It get's into places where the m6 can't. It's easy to move from room to room. And it cleans as well as an M6 for a fraction of the price.
@michaelwallach43524 жыл бұрын
The Braava M6 has a “threshold” beta feature now where you add thresholds on the smart map that you want it to cross. Also, I agree about the dirty mop head but if you run a whole home clean 2-3x per week (I have two dogs), the maps get less and less dirty with each clean. It’s def better at maintaining a clean floor. Also, the detailed clean option is intense and I’m sure cleans better than the 240. Finally, the reusable mop heads clean better than the disposable.

I agree with your conclusion. I have a 240 and love it. My house is mostly carpet with my kitchen and two bathrooms the only hard floor rooms in the house. I put the 240 in a room, press clean, close the door on it, and let it run. I just don’t see what the m6 would add for my particular home. I couldn’t realistically use the m6 room navigation to have it clean the kitchen and then go on to the bathrooms because after it’s cleaned the kitchen it would then be dragging a damp dirty mop across my carpets on its way to the first bathroom - yuk! The only advantage I see for the m6 would be if my biggest hard floor (the kitchen) was bigger than 150 sq feet but it’s not so it’s the 240 for me all the way. [ Edit: Corrected 150 sqm to 150 sq ft. The little 240 might be good, but not quite that good! ]

I really liked this review. I think robot mops can be nice little helpers, especially for keeping the house clean in between more intense cleanings, but I also think it is not worth to invest a lot of money in them. M6 is in my opinion too pricey for what it's worth, especially because those mops can help to make the house look more fresh, but they are not enough to actually clean it in the long term. For older people or injured people they are great though.

@maricomovies4 жыл бұрын
My experience with Braava jet m6 after 3 months: very good construction, good cleaning results but software running it just sucks: - can't mop in a schedule after i7 (you have to create schedules in each robot separately). It has an option "mop after vaccum" but it works only for manual starting not scheduled - it can't return to the base station if was incidentally lifted durning cleaning (if get stuck). When get lost starts clean whole area not only scheduled - can't return if taked manually to a spot clean - can't set to mop the floor paraller to floor panel layout (as showed in the video), braava choose moping way depend on surface dimensions, and often is against the panel layout. You can't choose the proper way for each room/floor. Smudges are visible when it mops against the layout. - base station dock plate gets slippery after wet mopping and often braava can't leave the base, need glue some stickers to get better friction - can't use the proximity sensors in proper way,, often hard bumps obstacles like a crazy blind - sometime can't find the way to selected room (no obstacles at all), it seems that for each start it calculates differ way, don't know why - is much dumber than i7, often get lost, can't find the room or just mop differ rooms that scheduled - when get stuck and wait for a help battery is drained fast, when you came back home and find lost Braava battery is so low that it can't finish the job - app can't show on the map where is the robot now, it shows only name of the room - creating a "smart map" takes a lot of time if you have a big house (need minium 3 training runs), can't copy map to another robot, if you have i7 first and it already has the map it can't transfer it to a new robot for avoid training runs. - "smart map" are not so smart, somtiemes show non existent doors between rooms, which need manuall edit and separation (which is a bit tricky) - can't edit/correct walls on the map, you can only divide area for separately rooms and name it - can't mop rooms in an order selected in scheduler (e.g. 1. Kitchen 2. Living room etc), the order is random. There are rumors that this bug will be removed in a new update.

Excellent video! I own a 380t braava and have been using and abusing it in this coronavirus quarantine. I bought this little robot 3 years ago, and just a few days ago I discovered that I don't need the cube to use it. In fact, it seems that without the cube it works better and has a greater reach. That hub devours batteries and has no button to turn it off. Like everything about iRobot, by the way, when batteries will completely discharge in a matter of days if the robots are removed from their bases. Since you don't like to read instructions, you may not have read the 380t's navigation modes. If you hold down the sweeping or cleaning button for a few seconds, the 380t enters a less precise navigation mode. Well, that's what the manual says, but in practice I didn't notice any difference. Yes, useless information eheheh. But here's a very useful piece of information. The 380t has a USB port. And no, you can not update your firmware, as you will transform it into paper weight if you connect it to a PC. There is a bug that burns (yes, it actually catch fire) the LED circuits if the 380t is connected to a PC via USB and two buttons on the robot are pressed at the same time. So, be warned. No connection to a PC.
@seizuretastic4 жыл бұрын
I'm less sure about braava (but I imagine it'd be the same), but all Roombas come with a serial port, and iRobot publishes documentation about how to interface with it. Obviously, don't try this if you don't know what you're doing. But you can remote control it, get sensor data, set cleanign schedules, basically everything. I got mine to play the Mario theme in beeps and boops. I'm pretty sure this is what the usb is for: for iRobot themselves to use it, or for developers interesting in "hacking" their roomba.

Do you still have it? How has it been?
@mtrivelin3 ай бұрын
@@kiwisun529 Hello! Yes, I still have the brave Braava, but it is stored somewhere in my storage, after the batteries ran out and I didn't buy any more. All the ones I bought in China turned out to be fake, or too old and continued to be sold as if they were new. It's cute and quiet, but it works better for collecting dust than cleaning a floor with a damp cloth, which quickly becomes grimy. It ended up becoming a piece in my iRobots collection :) I ended up buying a Chinese robot, an ilife Shinebot W455, which ended up replacing both the Braava and the Scooba. The first one doesn't clean as well with that damp cloth and the last one gets everything wet and makes an absurd noise, only suitable for hard floors. The wooden floor in my living room has a lot of cracks, and Scooba releases too much water, which would end up damaging the floor. That's why it was only used on the balcony, where the floor is made of stone. The W455 isn't perfect. It has its software problems, which could have already been resolved. These Chinese companies leave a lot to be desired when dealing with and contacting customers, unlike companies like iRobot. But despite this, the device cleans well, is silent and can be controlled via the smartphone app, in addition to the physical remote control. It has speed control, brush rotation speed, amount of water you want to use and even voice volume. Yes, he talks too much. I use it all over the house, after using my old and noisy Roomba 581 from 2007, which works great so far. The Roomba picks up all my dog's hair and the W455 washes the floor. Efficient duo. So, if you want something very quiet that can be used to sweep your (small) apartment, the Braava is well suited for the job. As long as you don't have furniture with gaps a little higher than it, where it tends to get stuck due to its wedge shape. It's more cute than good, I'd say. It is used to scrub the floor, but the area is small and the cloth gets dirty quickly. It has no control over how much water it uses, it doesn't warn you when the water has run out and if you finish the job before the water runs out, it will keep wetting your floor until the reservoir is empty. I would say that it is not a device that should be left working unsupervised. Every now and then you have to come and see if it hasn't gotten stuck somewhere. The W455 is practically independent and has no problems getting stuck in tight places. It doesn't hit practically anything, it warns you when the water runs out or when the dirty water tank is full. It can do the same route up to 3 times, as long as there is water in the tank or the battery lasts. I recently discovered that it is faster and more practical to wash the balcony quickly by scrubbing the floor with a broom and then letting the W455 dry the water. It will scrub the floor with its rotating brush while sucking up the water in its drying mode. It's faster and more efficient than letting him wash the balcony himself and dry it afterwards. As it only carries one liter of water, it's not that much to wash an external area that accumulates a lot of dust. A good bucket of soapy water, 3 minutes of scrubbing to loosen the dirt and letting it finish scrubbing and collecting the water is much faster and more practical. We have to discover the best uses for our robotic friends, don't we? The Braava makes a great door stopper. :)

That's disappointing - I expected the m6 to be able to be told via software 'hey, there's a bump transition here, but it's OK, proceed over it' and for locations that I don't explicitly say 'OK to cross', act as normal and don't proceed in those areas. I was thinking of grabbing the m6 at some point up until you mentioned that - I've got wood to tile transitions that I would have expected it to traverse (and wood/tile to carpet that I expect it to not), because that's 6 rooms, but because it won't dare cross transitions, that number becomes 2. Ouch. Hard pass for me unless they address that, be it software or a new bot (if the m6 can't physically cross a transition point). My little 240 will keep on chugging!

Have all 3. Have had M6 for only 6 weeks. Also have old Scooba which is the best. Honestly the M6 was the worse. Tie between 380(which you can attach swiffer pad which is so convenient!) and 240 nice cleaning but takes too long in larger room.

I have a Mint 4200(Roomba 380t). Purchased a year or two before Roomba bought that company(Evolution Robotics) out. It still works to this day, battery life is way down from years ago though. Never really used it’s wet mopping feature just used it primarily for dry dusting. Was good at getting animal hair and small particles. Good for two large rooms and it’s Nav is/was very systematic, especially for year it was designed(2010).

i'd love it if you could review the irobot roomba scooba lines from back in the day. you could also compare how they do with the braava. that'd be interesting.
@screamtoasigh99843 жыл бұрын
I've had both..scooba was way way better but took more work after/before to set it up, like a carpet cleaner if you know what I mean. Filling the tank of water and cleaner, emptying the dirty tank. In comparison, the brava is so easy to set up and replace the pad, no emptying dirty tank, etc. BUT the brava is not really heavy duty cleaning like the scooba. The scooba cleaned like a legit mopping. Th brava cleans like a swifer wet (the sheets, not the pads). The Scooba was built like the roomba, hefty and weighty, the brava is imho too light. The weight puts some heft to scrubbing/mopping like when you push harder on a swifer, the brava can't do that it's too light. So imho, brava is great for bathrooms or general areas but was really lacking in the kitchen/high traffic dirty areas. It's better than nothing but every time I used it, I thought to myself, I miss the scooba. (I had the cheapest brava the 240, the scooba got lost in a move, it still worked years later). If the brava was as heavy as the roomba it might alter my opinion. If it let you choose between disposable pads/scooba tank option it would be a winner, you could choose the best option for the job..

Thank you for the great review! I still waiting for when they improve mop robots. My friend has 3 kids and a dog and a cat and she said mopping robot makes just a mess in her house. If a person lives alone or not many people and pets at the house, maybe a mopping robot is a good choice. I stick to my Bussel water vacuum for now.

@@99dimensions Because of text communication I can't tell if you have sarcasm or agreement. In After effects, you could use a brush effect, or in photoshop, you can do video now. In Ps you could use a brush and go to the animation pallete and create your frames. If you have any other questions on after effects, premiere or photoshop feel free to ask.

I have the braava before 380t, the whire one. it does a amazing job but takes 12 hours to charge. it can use any cleaning solution i pick including wet swifter pads

We are probably responsible for at least 10k of your views because my 2 year old is OBSESSED with "robot vacs". We have seen each video several times and would LOVE it if you could review a Kirby! We have one and he is also obsessed with it. It was over $1k and would love to see it compared to Dyson and other high-end brands!

Remember the braava jet has cleaning solution in the pad so just using water in 380t wasn't fair. i fill the reservoir with bona but have started to use swifter wet pads since it come with scrubbing pad, trick is to put scrubbing pad that its on back not front on plate. i own model before 380t which takes 12 hours to charge but still is a excellent robot.
@kinglord54293 жыл бұрын
Other reason 300 series braava was better design than newer ones, the pad plate is lower and sticks out from braava so the machine might not be able to fit under something but mopping pad can.
@TechAndFlights87922 жыл бұрын
my favorite brava was the brava jet 240 it cleans well and also its cute. but cons are strekes dosnt work with imprint link and you recmonded 240 i liked it.
They have a threshold option like the keep our zone to mark the map and it will ignore it's rug sensing tech and just climb over it unless it's a big transition. Also the m6 is t the best at mapping since you can't mark the thresholds until you've let it built a map. But they have another secret up their sleeve. As long as the m6 base is next to the compatible Roomba, you use the Roomba to map the house 2 times then run a couple cleaning runs to get a solid map. Then connect the m6 to the app with no maps and under new map there's an option to import your Roomba map to the m6. Then you can mark the thresholds for a better experience. I tried following my m6 around and "helping" it over thresholds to get the mapping done but took forever. Wiping the m6 from the app and unchecking the save to cloud box when factory resetting/removing means when you reconnect it it's blank like when new. Then click map icon and there is a second option to import either an old m6 map or from compatible Roomba. Voila, perfect house map can edit and put in all your zones and thresholds. My S9 is great at mapping and can have whole house and all rugs mapped in 2 mapping runs. I don't think the m6 recognizes the rug areas that are imported but I just use keep out zones for that just in case. For a few that it likes to climb on and freak out.

i use a 3rd party reusable mopping pad on my 240 and it works great although it is slightly too tall so the mop is louder for some reason. They even stay blue when i use bleach to clean the pads

I hope they make one with an actual spinning mop head that is periodically rinsed in an actual reservoir.

@VacuumWars I have an roomba i7, it works really well… I’ve heard rumours that the braava jet m6 isn’t very reliable, breaks easily and isn’t generally a good product… Should I get the m6, and is yours still working to this day? Thanks for the awesome reviews.
@Clintaso4 жыл бұрын
Seems to me that your choice should either be the 240 or M6 depending on your situation. 240 for the obvious reasons laid out at the end of the video, but if you’re deciding on one for larger spaces, in my opinion you need to either go big or go home. 380 seems to be obsolete especially with that soaking water reservoir as opposed to the spray jet. Seems to me that you can look at the M6 as the “380 v2” and think about it as if the M6 is supposed to be the refined mop that they envisioned when creating the 380. That may seem like an obvious statement but I think about it this way: If I don’t want to dish out for the price of the m6, I should choose the refined budget version that iRobot has created for us.

i have an arsenal of the 380. i like the washable rags. you would get a lot better results if you roomba-fied the room by picking up the chairs, floor lamp, and other obstacles. swiffer cloths work great too for crud and cat hair.

You really need to stop saying the m6 only works with s9 and i7. In the app I can have it mop after my 980. Also, I have mine set to mop twice a week. The reusable pad and tank last both trips so I only have to do maintenance on the mop once a week. Much like my 980.

I use a Samsung PowerBot as vacum, than the 240 to do a second wet stage. Only one thing... 240 you can also select how much water to use for each kind of wet clean, and each kind of pad. I have also an extra battery with 3x more power, than it can clean all my 100m2 apartment.
@carleh20085 жыл бұрын
it needs a way to determine the pad dirtiness.but the flaw with the M6 that will be best addressed in future is 2 fold.it needs a better dock, that can 1. swap the pads by itself, i.e. drops them/moves them into a waste bin area on cleanbase and then install a replacement from a reserve in the cleanbase..2. can empty dirty water and supply clean water, either to a larger tank in the cleanbase form or/and connected to drain and mains.they are almost there really, they just need to reduce that final lack of automation.

*Question* How is the 380t so much better than a Deebot ozmo when when they both use the same basic pad saturation method? Is there simply more weight/downforce on the 380t pad? Would putting a 1,2,3,4,5 pound weight on the pad side of Deebot Ozmo make it better at Mopping?

I just ordered the m6. Very excited to try it out. I have three long hair cats and live in a condo that is 40% area rug 60% hard floor. I plan to use the machine to dust and mop the hard floors. I will continue hand vacuuming the area rugs as my cats shed like crazy and I don’t think a robot vac like the 9 series would work for me especially with the dust bags. I use a Dyson animal and I have to empty the canister every 5 days! But the hard floor dusting and mopping? I really hope the m6 will help me out!

I would not buy this unit, I purchased this unit last year and also the vacuum unit, the mop stopped working after using it for about 4 months, The top door opened every time it hits a wall of future, a small piece of plastic was broken off, and a piece op plastic that holds the water bottle. I called to see if the have a repair location, but no,they don’t their service stinks, do your self a favor and save your money, it is junk

380t & 390t have batteries that can be removed, they are just protected by a flap and screw. M6 costs more than the 240+380+390 together:)) If the price was double maybe, but since it is triple... I don't think it is worth it. UK price is £660 vs the others around £200.
