Bought 2 of these 10 years ago and still going strong. Originally sold for soldering copper pipe, but I have used they for loads of jobs. Produces a very hot thin blue flame.

Like others have said, the lighter Iroda have used is not a regular off the shelf flint lighter (the dimensions are slightly different) so if it develops a leak due to a fracture (as mine did) you'll have to buy an Iroda original fuel-cell. I tried dozens of similar lighters but none would work as they were either not tall enough to engage with the trigger or they were too wide to fit in the shell. If you do fiddle one to fit, the spring on the trigger mechanism (that depresses the button on the lighter) will not work as the original fuel cell requires notably less force to depress. As the genuine fuel cells cost so much you may as well dump the whole thing in the bin and buy something else... there are many better micro blowtorches on the market that cost far less than this one. TEDi stores in Europe stock some really good alternatives for just a few Euros.

Have you check out the Soto jet lighter. Same concept except you don't have to remove the flint wheel on the lighter. Just put the lighter in, put the top on and you're good to go

Thank you for posting this. You have absolutely answered all my questions I had. I wanted to use this for wire jewelry. Ok the adjuster thanks didn't know that part. I don't like the lock though . I think it should be easier to push and pull. My question is is it safe to remove the lighter later when I stop using it. For safety purposes. I've read instructions in other textbooks. So I hope I'm prepared.

You're welcome Matthew! The lock isn't too much of an annoyance, you don't have to use it if you don't want to. As for removing the lighter, yes, you can take it out very easily when you're not using the lighter. Hope that helps and all the best to you!

They should make piezoelectric transducers easier to replace. My father is s retired mechanical engineer and he couldn't replace the sparker, even with all the photos I gave him. I have quite s few jet lighters and have one as big as my head and they're all broke. I'm only going to buy cheap ones now.

hi where can i buy the fuel for my AMBRIDAGE mini butane torch refillable fuel cartridge came with a lighter with hole in the bottom and how full should the lighter be after buying it before i use it i bought one today but the lighter is empty

You should be able to find butane refill cannisters at most hardware stores. Most lighters come with some fuel in it, but some don't.

I'm in Canada, and cannot find a disposable lighter that will replace the fuel cell. Anyone ever used a disposable lighter instead of the included fuel cell, and if so, what brand? Did you remove the strike wheel if so?

Does it come with the lighter? How long does one lighter (the liquid) last?

Yes. The frequency in which you use the thing will determine how long before the tank is emptied. The lighter is refillable. I won't go so far as to say that it will last forever, but in theory, as long as you keep refilling with butane, it should last for a very long time.

You guys keep saying you can pick up the store bought to replace the refillable supplied, Lies. None of you have tried and you sure as hell do not Show it. The refillable lighter provided in a tiny bit bigger & therefore the ones you buy at the gas station do not fit properly and will not work. I Bought one (Micro-Jet) & although it works OK the POS supplied Lighter leaks fuel right back out the Inlet Fill Valve. Guess what? I'm screwed for a replacement lighter unless I can Jerry Rig something myself. Why do they do that to us? I had one Years ago that used a Simple Bic Lighter. Worked great. But now you have to have THEIR supplied Lighter or it doesn't work! Bic, Cricket, off brands none work as is. Hey BIC... Make one that uses your Lighters. Steal the Market.

Tried it...regular rectangular lighters do not work in that (So, basically FALSE ADVERTISEMENT)...I removed a flint wheel from one lighter and in the process of cutting (Dremel tool) a piece of plastic to use as a trigger to get the fuel shooting out.

no, not all lighters work on the Micro-Jet. the Bic lighters are either too thicc or too short. the empty shell that came with it is the perfect size and shape for the torch.

How is it possible that the jet lighter burns hotter than a normal lighter?

A regular cigarette lighter, like a Bic, burns with a simple open-air flame; similar to a candle. A jet lighter accelerates the air in an hourglass-shaped chamber; as the fuel burns, the volume of the combustion produced is greatly increased due to heating, and the Venturi chamber is shaped to take advantage of the resulting pressure differential to accelerate the incoming air.

Uncomfortable trigger and will not work in cold weather (around zero celcius and colder). Have to remove the cell and warm up in hands or pockets first then it will work. In my opinion there are better micro torch lighters available for around the same price or a few bucks more. Not a fan of this shell and insert style lighter.

I agree with the trigger being uncomfortable. For a couple uses here and there, it's not bad, but for repeated use it does start to annoy the thumb. As for cold weather use, I strictly use mine for paracord crafting indoors, so that's not an issue for me.

Just some constructive criticism. If you're gonna make a review, don't waste 2 minutes talking about other lighters. People click on this video for the item mentioned in the title, not those other lighters. Also, actually use the lighter because most people are interested in how a butane lighter can become a butane torch. The video just felt like it was filled with a bunch of verbiage and not so useful information. TLDR: Get to the point, quit beating around the bush, only include useful information.
