Pull headlights & bulbs out and put in sun for a few hours. Run around the lens to headlight bucket seam with a black high temp sealant (do this while the headlight is still warm/ hot from sitting in the sun, will stick better and allow the plastics to expand so you get the sealant in everywhere). Also check the lens for any cracks. Your Missus is definetly a keeper bloke- throwing paint down or turning a spanner doesnt bother her🤙

They are great! Just noisy hand brake shoes and the hand brake cable stretching is an issue with mine. Apart from all the other AU specific issues it’s great and so comfortable.

Enjoy the content guys, inspires me to get on with some of my own repairs I have been putting off. You have got yourself a keeper there brother! Respect to you both! Also my headlights had the same issue with condensation- I found the seal between lens and and light had hardened too much and was brittle - I sealed them back up and found the turtle wax headlight restorer to be the best product (have used many) and finally got them nice and clear

Man I miss my old 5.0 fairlane, I ended up parting it out when they were worth nothing. Couldn’t even get 2k for it complete. Now try and find a clean v8 one… Such awesome dailies. They always reminded me of Lincoln town car from the 90s/2000s

Where is SA are you guys? Great work, they came up well. My daily is an AU LTD 5L and she’s in need of both the bumpers tidied up to. There’s a big dent in my front bumper from a small kangaroo. Common problem with the AU Fairlain/LTD headlights. Finding good second hand headlights is hard but you can heat up the seal to remove the lens to clean and dry them out and reseal them with sikaflex

When I first bought my NU I took the headlights out went and bought supercheaps degreaser in the 4 litre container, its great road grime remover .I pored it into them shook them around then hosed them out until all soap was gone leave them to dry. They'll look like brsnd new on the inside. then when I put them back in I used cable ties around the rubber boots and never had another issue even after pressure washing under the bonnet .

🤘😎 respect to you both. Andrea is killing it with these repairs. Try a 3m rubbing compound to brighten the headlights. For condensation check the headlight vents...make sure they aren't blocked. Good luck with all your projects. Wishing you both a successful journey 👍

To stop condensation from happening again, take the headlight off, bake it in a cardboard box with a heat gun in it for a bit, then pry the clear plastic off the housing. Once it's out, you can sand it and clear it, then remove the old sealant and whack a bead of sikaflex on the dog. Stick it all back together and clamp it with a rachet strap until it sets, then whack it back on the car, good as new

Fk yeh that came out mint, Andrea did a killer job, thats a mad effort am diggin the glasses too, looks good. Have to take in the conditions an environment into account too, just that amplifies the task shitloads. I can tell ur not a tradesman painter bro, it kills me to see incorrect ways taught to ppl i cant help myself i hope u read this properly an take it the right way lol i dont really care but its gd advice. legiiit, few things, the rear bar - heat gun/a metal file the repair, no filler man if it gets tapped again it will crack worst than where u started as u said 'bad repair' it just looks av ifff it gets tapped again.. u probb thinkin that wont repair it good enough after jus using a course file. ur right, but thats the other thing on R bar, NO interface pad on the sander - u want it to be flat like a block ya knoww. it should be fairly straight but 120 an machine shape the bumper its easy or feather out what u have too etc. u kinda made her go the long way bout the repair process an no one likes that part its shit an time consuming asf. cos u dont knoww, plus the materials in filler etc uu save there., is the way to go for plastic repairs. If u come across a rip or tear like on a bumper lip or something u can go hard with a soldering irron, its amazing wt u can do with that an a heat gun no shit. - technically speaking its a no-no but i have no issue in the right situation once ya get good with plastics. thats not gd common practice lets say other thing an i know its prob cos u dont have a tinting system (i cant blame ya there $$) No stick matching. its a very vague comparison. all metallics need to be sprayed, use bog applicator or something an wet it up with prepsol for a look at ur colour. Can u colour match anyway? may aswell spray what the store gave ya really. Sometimes the lads at paint shop will match it for ya if ya give em notice. but even then ur still goin on his ability an the quality of the sample u provide. depends on the job an the dollars u have in it so can vary wt u can get away with.. u were in absolute prime lighting for looking at the colour tho. especially whites. -metallics full sunlight ideally tho. oh solid colours just wipe onto a plate or card to check colours, but useless looking at a solid sample unless its fully dry. This rant ive got goin here probably seems pedantic cos we talkin bout a AU touch up here but thats not my point. the falcon looks dope now its a tidy job in all honesty but this shit is my life ive been painting 18yrs an it teaches dicipline when it bites you, also for me a lil OCD but theres ways to do things an ways not, i know u can acheive a good outcome but its not correct an its stuff like thatt that ppl dont see an devalues the work the painter/beater world. u know, why pay me 20k ffor paint when this guy said he can for 8k. Jus sayinn

oh 2k prime is a must i noticed u didnt show the front bar lol, did it fry an map up hard? it NEEDS a 2k seal. its a overnight at the shop job unless ur k with primer patches for a day. Oi, how good the sound when ya run ur hand over the roof, windows, doorsss. i know u said polish anyway but throw a sheet over it or somethin bro ur not gonna polish the door moulds, plastics window rubbers, overspray gets everywherrrre. headlights need a coat plastic prime a 2k clear them FYI donbt make life hard for urself by bein slack

Wow, that was a lot to take in. A lot of what happens doesn’t come through in the video. I do use a heat gun and soldering iron to fix plastics often, in this case there was damage that I couldn’t file out, hence the filler. Generally I try to limit filler use. Also, If we were trying to get this car super nice I would have blocked every step, but for what the car is we smashed it out and cheated every chance we got… just like using old colour and some clear as primer, instead of actual primer… so no, I got no shrink back in any of the repairs as it was sealed with 2k Thanks for the support
