The combat shields are the little bit that goes on top of the dreadnought fists/talons in the Blood Angel dreadnought kits.

They are IH and infantry so they can also take graviton shreders. And a cyber familiar on the sergeant for extra obnoxiousness

The Morlock unit seems good because you can have more than 1 in a detachment, unlike the 0-1 BA unit and doesn't have Chosen Warriors all the time. To argue for Preferred Enemy (EC) I can see the lore reason for it is because those that survived after Ferrus Manus died and completely dedicated themselves for the rest of the heresy to hunt down and fight Emperor's Children. The unit seems like a slightly better cataphractii command squad because that squad starts at 3 then goes to 5 max. The BA unit isn't the best and it feels like they are missing something. I think they will eventually go the "build your own specialized unit" route. Having different torsos, heads, pauldrons, and maybe legs that can be used to simulate these specialized units.

Well to be fair, you can have entire squads of support volkite weapons in any legion. That said, yeah you'd think there'd be more options than just Morlocks x)

I would say the low number for the morlocks squad size is to fit with lore cause the vast majority died in istvaan, but that’s just a guess

Doesnt Haywire cause an invuln and mitigation only on 2-5 and on a 6 no saves of any kind against dreads? Just a small thing but it just reinforces your argument that graviton guns are quite strong.

The Morlocks should be able to get their hands on graviton shredders as part of the armory of the Iron Hands. It says any model with the infantry unit type can upgrade from a graviton gun to a graviton shredder for +5 points. Definitely gonna increase their points and decrease the range but I think the extra shots will make them terrifying for Dreadnoughts to face.

I have 10 MK4 marines I’ve been looking to do something with, so I’m doing 5 Ofanim with jump packs and 5 without. The limitation of 5 in a unit makes them a tough sell over a command squad. I agree they are overpriced. I’m doing them for fluff only. If you are wanting to be optimal, take a command squad.

Think you just missed 2 things with the Morlocks: They can take graviton shredders as an upgrade to their graviton guns for 5 points and Augmentor can take a cyber-familiar giving him a 3+ invul

Missed? No, the point i made was they probably should have had the shredders baked in, they are the big-brain option to take, especially with preferred enemy. The cyber familiar is available to all iron hands characters, so goes without saying.

The court is just silly. Sanguinary guard would have been better. The weapon stats are fine,just add the bodygusrd type rule from DA companions,banner options and other obvious bits. Maybe a boost if taken as retinue for Sangy. Azkaellon would be cool too.and amit

The BA unit is just... it cpuld have just been sanguinary guard and everybody would have been happier. The Morlocks on the other hand are killers. Well at least they killed the meme that IH are completely forgotten by GW and that they will never get a unit. Other than that, they seem like a fine alternative to a command squad. More durable, more shooty, less killy in CC, which is fine. Also they can get grav shredders through IH rules so they can make any tank or dreadnought disappear

Kinda sad the morlocks can’t take thunder hammers, but they are a solid body guard and a decent way to get weapon skill 5 termies in iron hands. Also how do gravaton guns look going into infantry units? What does the wound roll look like?

Each model hit must roll under their strength or take a hit with armour saves, so that great, but it also leaves difficult terrain, so pretty good control!

Thought the same thing pretty much. Ofanim are one of those units that are under powered and over priced, I liked the Morlocks though. Morlocks are alright as a unit, there are better for the Iron Hands, the thing that holds them back most is their unit size of capping out at 5, if more could be taken I'd definitely want that as part of my death star of Ferrus Manus in a spartan with terminators and although I will, it's because it's thematic, but as it stands if it's between gorgons or morlocks, go gorgon, if you only have the points for 5 beefed up terminators, go morlock. Very interesting wargear on the morlock, but like the atramentar, they should've gotten their own models. I am supremely glad for laser forge miniatures, FW hasn't dropped morlocks, but the morlocks dropped by laser forge are on point as models and although officially not coming with legal loadouts, with minor modifications you can get yourself a very interesting, totally unique unit of these bad boys. As for Ofanim, I wouldn't have even had them as a unit, I'd have them as a character, a unique centurion upgrade or maybe even something like an apothecary that gives strength and initiative bonus's to Blood Angels as well as being decent in melee combat. That was kind of how I pictured the Ofanim in what the lore has been given to us in the Sanguinius books, kind of like a commissar no few Blood Angels know about, those that do know don't really talk about them because they're the ones who put down those lost to the red thirst, so they don't seem like the kind of space marines to group into squads because there's no need to. I guess kind of treat them like the precursor to the duties of Blood Angels Chaplains

That Ofanim unit is just far too expensive as too many things do a similar job for much cheaper (even within the same damn legion), I certainly feel better about the Morlocks, and it was about time they appeared in game as an actual unit.

I wish GW could at least try to be consistent with points. In the Legion lists a volkite charger replacing combi-bolter for terminator units is 2pt. Yet the Morlock get this for free? Either a charger is better than a bolter and thus more points, or it's not. Quite simple.

Ofanim squad is a joke for that pricetag. It has no serious defence (6+ invuln practically non-existent on squad of 3 guys) It has no serious attack (ap3 is a low-average tier weapon and again - any 6+ rendings and MS on a squad of 3 with 3 attack is an anecdote) So why do they exist? I could come up with some ideas for their use if everybody had a paragon blades or standart storm-shields - something they could be really good at. Or they should be priced as Dawnbreaker cohort - I'd take a squad of 3 for 90 points (so it would be a bit cheaper than regular command squad) But with 50 points for a mediocre space marine is just insanity.

Why didn't they just make Sanguinary Guard rules?? If I had to guess, just to give us new fluff. These guys seem like a command squad version of a Chaplain. But the thing is, their true purpose I would imagine is to watch for signs of the Black Rage.

What is the crunch purpose of this unit? I guess if you want to take a command squad that can take and accept challenges for a non combat focused lord??? Or perhaps if you're facing someone like Sigismund or Lord Commander Eidolon you can use these guys as a suicide squad to challenge them with??
